#rothenburg#rothenburgobdertauber#turismoalemania#alemaniaturismo
Here's a self-portrait of sorts.
That's part of the still-standing city wall of Rothenburg ob der Taub, founded in 1274.
The name translates to Red Fortress over the Tauber (river).
I spent the afternoon I arrived walking around with my jaw dragging on the ground. It's beautiful, and feels like stepping back in time. St Jakob's cathedral gave me goosebumps.
To get a sense of the town without the tourists (busloads of Chinese..), I went walking well before dawn. That's me, coming down the steps.
Next post will be of a famous, and much photographed and painted, corner on the west side of the town - you'll probably recognise it.
Gracias #rothenburg ... The nicest, Magic Town, we have been inside Deutschland. This experience definitely increased our imagination for our almost ready piece #sutilezaguerrera
It has been a very intense work behind all this new cycle, but we feel grateful for all the opportunities we had to improve those “little details”... And once more massive Thanks to all the beautiful souls that have been sharing their thoughts and feelings after watching us performing, believe us, you make a big role on our inner Artist.
Between the Rödertor and Galgentor towers is the Old Forge or the Gerlachschmiede - one of the finest half-timbered houses in Rothenburg. It is a loving restoration of the original house, completely destroyed in 1945 by an air raid. Its highly decorative gable, pretty windows and colorful heraldic symbols were fully restored to their former glory in 1951. Before 1945, the house was only a barn with a gable and exposed brickwork
It was restored according to its old appearance, but with historical designs and a timbered gable.
The forge closed in 1967, since when it has been in private ownership.
