Let’s switch rooms and start more towards the beginning. When you move, it’s hard to know where to start, every room needs your attention. I started with the rooms that we would use the most and were the most visible. So the family room or great room and dining room.
Pictured is (1) family room 5 months after moving in, and (2) before, the first couple months with our old sectional and rug (3)the first two big purchases we made.
Who else hates to paint? And who else trims first and then rolls? This is fairly new for me and while I dread trimming, it does make finishing the project easier. 🤷🏼♀️ #roommakeover#painting#ihateadulting
Little girls room gets a sophisticated makeover. My inspiration was this Scalamandre Chinoiserie fabric. Custom pillows and trim/velvet and bolster were made for this linen bed 🛏. An existing armoire/cabinet got a face lift with a new color scheme and some gilding, and old tired carpet is being replaced by this chic leopard patter. A soft pale pink will set the wall tone, while the tray will get a little deeper pink and curved rods will dress up the windows with a soft billowing green curtain. Overhead lighting will be this super chi hot pink with gold trimmed lantern. I will post final pics when it’s completed. #roommakeover#girlsroommakeover#chinoiserie#leopardprint#leopardrug#antiquearmoire#scalamandre#softsurroundings#linenupholsteredbed .#decoratingwithsjt
This has become my favorite room in my house. I think it’s the calm feeling I get when I’m in here. The quiet gray walls, the white furniture, the artwork I created on the walls (still can’t believe I did that), and the super plush white @rugs_usa rug that feels amazing between my toes. In the evenings when Arien is putting Aren to bed, I like to rock Rowen to the gentle ocean sounds on his @hatchnursery sound machine. Such a perfect ending to our day.
From drab to fab! 🤩 Barbara Bettis, a Designer in our Akron, OH store, COMPLETELY transformed this room! Using high curtains and strategic furniture placement - it looks like the room doubled in size! 🏠 Comment below to learn more about Barbara and the others Designers in our Decorating Studio!
Ok, I do not have an Instagram house nor do I have Instagram bed making skills but, you guys, I finally got to hang my @smallwoodhome signs that I bought on sale FOREVER AGO and I am obsessed! (They are strategically hung to cover the plugs and wiring that are on this wall for mounting a tv - we didn’t want to remove them.)
If anyone needs me I’ll be staring at my handiwork with my feet up because I’m exhausted.
BEFORE AND AFTER!! It’s amazing how quickly you forget how horrific renovating can be once it’s over. I just found the estate agents photos of our house before we bought it. It was such a complete disaster, split into 3 bedsits and so utterly minging that I really struggled to see through it all - but we did! Here is a lovely example of the genius design and decor choices the previous owner made, like tiling over a window. 🤔It’s a shocker 😱😱😱
