Another Derby thankful post coming at you! This one is from our high kicking derby girl Stella Blue!
“I am Derby Thankful for My Boo, Skycotic. The yin to my yang, the peanut butter to my jelly, the calm to my storm. The best blocking partner, coaching partner, and side eye partner a Girl could ask for. These are the memories that last a lifetime, and I'm so blessed we're in this together. My Rock, my heart, my voice of reason, You No Stomp! ❤” #derbythankful#derbygirl#rollergirlsdoitbetter#fabulous#rollergirl#rollerderby#derbywife#sincity#lasvegas

One more Derby thankful post before bed! This one comes to us from our skater/ref Lucy Purr! “I'm derby thankful for the family I've gained since I've been in derby. They've been there no matter what and no matter how close we are. They've topped out my baby shower, they've topped out my birthday. They're my home away from home and they still continue to think of me and be there for me despite all of the major life changes that have kept me from being actively playing.” #derbythankful#thankyouderby#fabulous#sincity#rollergirlsdoitbetter#rollerderby#rollergirls#derbyfamily#family
High Stake Rollers is the upcoming action comedy horror from RedShirt Films.
Featuring real roller derby players, possibly real vampires. It's a love letter to Kristy Swanson's Buffy, a high five to every Steven Seagall movie, and a long awkward cuddle with the early works of Peter Jackson.
Three York based film companies will be collaborating on the film - RedShirt Films, Ether/Awe and Pollen Studios come together to create something very sticky and special.
The amazing GlitterWølf have signed on to pour ear candy into the film, and as always the legend that is Kyoto Dragon will be working on the film in post production.
We've teamed up with York Minxters Roller Derby and others to make sure that the sport is represented properly, and the true spirit of RD is captured.

💥Watching this inspirational, life affirming doc which celebrates the talent, the love and the determination of the US Skate Community(s) I felt honoured to be part of such a vibrant and loving worldwide movement. The skaters featured in this film will make your jaw drop!!!!!!
💥Within it's stories about individual groups and families for whom skating is an integral part of family life, a multi-generational passion and a significant aspect of African-American culture, this documentary confronts its audience with the ongoing tides of structural racism and greed that continue to pervade 21st Century America. However, this film celebrates life. Full of hope and passion which continues to galvanize people as they keep pushing forward in the face of strategic and insidious attempts to shut them down.
💥If you think this film isn't for you coz you're not from the States... you'd be wrong!!! What is happening across America affects all of us. What is happening there, happens here, perhaps it seems to be on a smaller scale but that means nothing...as we all know, it is infecting all parts of our culture and it continues to damage families and communities here in London and across the UK.
💥As a newcomer to the London Skate Community, I have been so lucky to have found such a loving, encouraging and talented group of people to skate with and I want to say a particular thank you to everyone at:
💗These London companies have had a direct impact on making me feel like I belong.... Thank you for sharing your passion and skills.... I LOVE Skating and I love my #skatefamily
💗Also a big shout out to all the skaters who I have been lucky enough to meet on my journey so far...
💥So if you weren't able to make it last night, you've got one more chance to see this inspirational peice of work in London.....5 years in the making....
🔥At RICHMIX Cinema,
🔥Wed 17th October ....before it continues to various film festivals on the otherside of the pond and worldwide....
