I want to salute the Presidency of Nancy Hoise, the second woman president of SEG. After 18 years, the Society finally elected a woman to the top of its governance during 2017/18, creating a role model for young women geophysicists to look up to. I am glad that I will be serving on the SEG as Director at Large with her as Past President, and along Dr Manika Prasad as Vice-President, we will account for three women in leadership roles for 2018/19. More is needed, for the representation of what is a key component of the Society, the women.
Thanks, Nancy House, for your dedicated and never ending volunteer efforts to improve SEG! The WNC and WN are proud!!!!! THANKS. #women @segeophysicists @seg_women #leaders#rolemodels#nancy#geophysics#geophysicists#math#subsurface#seismic#gravity#magnetics#EM#MT#geosciences#geo#presidents#seg#seg18

I shedded my hair on March 10, 2018.
They say that "hair is like an antenna that strings our head, our individual being, with the Divine, present in all cosmic energy."
(Andrea Gibson @andrewgibby calls each hair a kite string).
"Our hair is additional protection to our skin. It is there to remind us that we should feel protected by our God."
[Dictionary of emotional illnesses]
I shedded my hair, and with it, my identity.
Like peeling a layer, a skin,
I was left vulnerable,
I am not my long hair.
I am not my brown hair.
I am not... what I have been labelling me.
••Why have I not taken the time to define who I am?••
And yet I define and study everything else...
I was using Jack Sparrow's compass ⚙,
and this event kinda set the direction
of where it would point at this year:
I shedded my hair,
and my string to the divine shifted angle.
I shedded my hair,
and a more authentic and unapologetic self surged.
I shedded my hair,
and I understood that I had seen myself as a finished product rather than a work in progress...
Which we all are.
We are in constant change
because we move.
is the change between
potential and act...
••I learned this in high school philosophy••
[Jorge Drexler @drexlerjorge
Captures this so much better in his song
[Mercedes Sosa says it best in her song TODO CAMBIA]
[ #idols#rolemodels ]
I shedded my hair
to help heal my ancestors' wounds,
that were weighing up on me,
and my own.
(And that is still a work in progress,
they don't have the final word)
See your wounds.
The day I feel I know everything
And have nothing left to learn,
Is the day my existence becomes
Or so I have learned from very wise men.
I'm a healing water creature
Part of something
So much bigger than me.

Warning: LONG POST 😁
We met the Renton family a few years ago, they heard we were looking to buy a house in town so they called us up to see if we wanted to buy their house (We did!). Unfortunately, our acreage house took longer to sell (boo), they sold their house, we finally sold our acreage house, moved, finally sold the other town house and purchased a house in a culdesac TWO houses down from the house that Renton’s moved into. Fate. What a blessing this family has been. They love upon our kids as if they are their own and their kids pour time and time and time into ours. If our boys aren’t playing with age similar kids they are guaranteed to be with the Renton boys. Tonight, they were adopted as a Renton and enjoyed all the thrills of a hockey game including the smelly dressing room afterwards. 😂😂😂 #thankfulfortribes#framily#rolemodels#strongandkindkids#ezrajamesparkinson#ryderpaulparkinson#parkinsonadventures2018
Today is @rafanadalacademy's birthday! 2 years ago, @rafaelnadal invited @rogerfederer for the opening of his academy and the inauguration was a great success! This inauguration really showed the world how much both these athletes respect each other and are very appreciative of what they both have achieved in the respective careers and of what they've done for Tennis in general. Can't wait to see what the future holds for them! ❤️ we are truly truly blessed to have the privilege to watch these champions.
Also, the academy has been doing great, they came to my city a few months ago and my friend attended their camp. She said the quality of teaching was really good and that they're definitely helping today's youth as well as adults 💪🏼 VAMOS!
#fbf ✨ Our internship @hot97 for the #nessa show was full of great surprises like getting to know @hrradiolady Ms. Pat! She is truly someone to look up to! 😍👑 S/O @nessnitty for this incredible life changing experience 🖤 #radio#inspiration#rolemodels
Working on my decorating skills. They're not great. I can organize like a mother f*cker though. I like a lot of grey & white (thanks to my dads 😂), but I'm trying to add pops of color. Yellow and blue are my fav. Our room is slowly coming along. I can't wait to set up Logan's crib and add in some artwork.
Do you have a decorating gene?
This Guy is one of my heroes. I will always be a fan and be known as "that girl" that screams the loudest from the audience. * Give yourself permission to be great! * The most important work YOU will ever do is on yourself. * Set the tone for your life. * Choice. Commitment. Consistency. Change. Repeat. * Speak life into your life. * Make the struggle surrender to you. * Your perspective is either your power or your prison. *
This is a beautiful card that really pierces the soul. I love the way her expression seems to look into your mind and ask the deep questions -so here are mine:
Deep within, is there an unanswered question that's been holding you back?
The kind of question, that you may have been wrangling with and wrestling with for quite a long time, and is in a big way, shaping your destiny right now?
Is there an unconscious dilemma, or decision that you have been unable to find the solution for ... Maybe
because of its complexity. .. but neverthe less it continues to be a major obstacle to getting on with your life and being happy?
And what would happen if you decided to answer it, once and for all?
And whatever that decision/answer is ..
You will go ahead trust yourself ...
and see it through. Stick it out. Stand by your opinion and answer...
Period. I made a freebie to help with that - check my web page link to get it. 😎 How to make an intuitive decision.
Today's affirmation:. I'VE GOT THIS!

Such a honour to represent the Westview Basketball Academy and The Revolution at the Leadership Conference today. Amazing to present with my friend and mentor Alison, and one of my former players Leanne. #coachdevelopment#leadership#strongwomen#rolemodels
