I encourage you all to watch Robyn’s video on food allergies. I first heard Robyn on a Tony Robbins podcast. At the time, I was dealing with a toddler being diagnosed with toddler asthma and I never expected it. Her studies have shown the link with the foods we feed our children and their allergies and behaviors (ADD, hyperactivity, etc). As a parent you do your very best at all times and want to give your kids the very best. When I realized that perhaps the food I had been feeding them, could have been a cause of some type of harm, I decided to do my best to educate myself so that I could make sure they were getting the best. We started with two changes at first. Dairy always has to be organic, and we avoid food colouring. This means no fruit snacks unless there is no artificial colouring. You have to start slow with realistic goals, because it can be overwhelming, and in turn difficult to maintain, but with a few slight changes, you can still make a huge difference!
There are a lot of differences in the food industry between the USA and Canada, but the information she shares, as a mother and type A personality, resonated with us.
If you have any tips or information you can share, please DM us or leave them in comments.
Sharing my family’s health transformation from the TEDx stage was such an honor! And now getting to share what we learned then, and continue to learn every day, with you is my passion!

Breaking my soda habit was NOT easy, but OMG was it worth it! I was so surprised that I had MORE energy when I drank more water instead. You can hear the rest of my family’s health transformation story at the #TEDx link in my bio.
This book has been a great company for the past few months, and I've been taking a sweet time reading, learning, calmly savoring every word, every thought, every lesson and every truth. #theunhealthytruth#robynobrien#awareness . .
Durante os últimos meses esse livro tem sido um grande companheiro. E eu estou lendo calmamente, aprendendo e prestando muita atenção a cada dica, detalhe e pensamento. #book#bookstagram
I was making this platter of roasted beets while listening to an amazing podcast, The Unhealthy Truth by @robynobrienusa on how food is making us sick and what we can do about it. She shares her personal story on how she came to understand the food industry with a new perspective. She talks about practical baby steps towards better eating that she took for herself and her family. In the same breath, she tackles big issues such as GMO safety, antibiotics in the meat industry and the importance of organic food.
I encourage anyone who eats food (all of you!) to take a moment and listen to her interview. It is also important for anyone who makes food decisions for other people (hello parents!). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! ❤️❤️💕
On my list of books to get::: Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE food- pizza, pasta, anything carb if I'm being honest. I was the girl in high school at Burger King every day after school (which btw I never gained weight back then 😳) . Life events in the past years have really opened my eyes though, to the fact that what we are putting on/in our bodies really does have an effect on us, especially over time. That we really do have an obligation to ourselves and our families to know what's in our food supply. And to do or best to make smart choices when we can. Because we really do only get this one body in our lifetime.
I love Robyn's point of view on this to take baby steps, and "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good". And just as our kids aren't potty trained in a day, we won't change everything in a day. But we can do one thing.
And as my loving hubs teases me about buying organic "cheez-its" when the budget allows, I know this is more than a fad or marketing tool. It's simply about feeding ourselves and our families real food.
I hope you'll watch this Ted Talk... But just know you won't be able to un-learn what you'll see here.
My evening ritual...reading in bed with hot tea and my diffuser on full blast. Tonight is the holiday blend! I can't wait for my new oils to arrive. 😁😆
What is your favorite diffuser scent? Favorite evening ritual? And yes, it's only 9 Cali time...😂😜
Going through a bookshelf I found one of my old books,
What’s to Eat? The United States Department of Agriculture Yearbook 1979
Proof of the development of new foods that can resist certain diseases!! 😳
They wrote this like it was a good thing! 😡
Over the last 4 years I have learned so much about my own health and why I struggled most of my life. 🤢
As you all know, I made 1 change 4 years ago that effected everything. Most importantly I have no sign of any of my symptoms!
Do I believe it’s due to the change in my nutrition? 💯%
My favorite resource is Robyn O’Brien. Check out her TEDx talks or read The Unhealthy Truth.
We love this quote from Robyn O'Brien! Did you know 80% of the packaged foods in grocery stores contain GMOs? Unfortunately in the U.S. products containing GMOs don't have to be labeled! Take our non-GMO challenge to eliminate GMOs from YOUR diet! Tap the link in our profile @naturallysavvy to find the Non-GMO challenge on the site.
Do just 1️⃣thing. 1️⃣ substitution. 1️⃣healthy choice. Remove 1️⃣ item of junk food. Try 1️⃣ new workout. To make that long lasting, lifestyle change that's going to create better health it's not removing everything that's "bad". It's about making a decision. A decision for better health and a better life for your family by making small changes overtime. The small changes will have a lasting effect.
Comment below on the #onething you are going to change today!
🍴Dinner tonight! Kid friendly, super healthy and super easy for busy families!
🔹one turkey breast (bone in)
🔹sweet potatoes wrapped in foil (also can make regular potatoes)
🔹1 cup chicken broth
🔹salt and pepper as desired
Cook on low in your crock pot for 8 hours.
And the best part...the leftovers!!! Munch on cold turkey as a snack, make turkey sandwiches or boil the meat until it falls off the bones and make soup! This is a healthy and cost effective meal your family will love!
Listening to a Podcast the other day by Tony Robbins one of his guests a lady called Robyn O'Brien said these few words as part of a bigger context but they struck a cord and something we can all learn from. None of us are or ever will be perfect and we are always our own worst critics.
It's really important to embrace who you are, to love who you are and to be happy with what you are doing. We should always try grow and educate ourselves and strive to be better than we were the day before. That is progress 🙌🏼❤️️ #fitethos
Instead of waiting to manage disease, why are we not managing our health? I'm not an expert, dietician, or doctor. But I do agree the smartest way to manage our health and the health of our families is through our food and exercise.
Food and labels are overwhelming and scary. It's scary what we put into our bodies. So I take baby steps and am making small changes so my kids and I can function at our best. I started by listening to a podcast featuring Robyn O'Brien. If you want the link let me know! Next up, her book. I'll be sharing a weekly take-away or tip that maybe you can implement into your lifestyle.
And of course, I fuel myself with my daily dose of health and exercise. #cleaneats#robynobrien#tonyrobbins#fitmom

*Invite the media, meet in the center of town, have the kids march in one big group in front and the parents and supporters in the back to your Dept of Health or City Hall. Get there before and stay til after lunch hour so they see you. The media loves kids, we love our kids, we all all want our kids to be healthy. Let's do this!
What ideas do you have for Child Health Day? #childhealthday
Thank you Robyn O'Brien for sharing a magnitude of insight regarding the harm of the food industry. I now have a better understanding of the importance and significance of what I put into my body and how it affects me. Thank you!
Why didn't we stop this, because we were too busy getting shown other non important news to blind us, side track us
As said by @FortuneMag
The majority of our food contains #GMOs . Soon all food packages sold in the U.S. will have to have the proper labeling. On Friday #President#Obama signed bill #S764 that puts into place a federal standard for foods that have been made with genetically modified organisms, ABC Newsreports. This move comes just about two weeks after Congress passed legislation to necessitate labeling on all food packages that indicates whether or not they contain #GMO ingredients. “This measure will provide new opportunities for consumers to have access to information about their food,” Katie Hill, White House spokesperson, told the news outlet. This didn’t win over all foodLabeling advocates, however One criticism is that the bill allowed companies 2 use #QRCodes or 800 #s as a form of GMO labeling forcing consumers to scan the code or make a call to get more information. That’s why some opponents are calling the bill the #DARKAct short for “Denying Americans the Right to Know” and argue these alternative labels discriminate against low-income consumers who lack the technology to access offlabel info. Others have criticized the bill because it isn’t as stringent as a piece of Vermont legislation that will now be superseded by the federal law. Vermont Senator #BernieSanders was among the federal bill’s critics&urged his Twitter followers to contact their senators about the bill earlier this month GMOs are estimated to be in the majority of our food, somewhere between 75%&80% The Food&Drug Administration has said that they are safe for consumption but most consumers argue that, safe or not, they have the right to know exactly what is in their food. American companies say that it’s too expensive to add GMO labeling to their packaging, but former financial and food industry analyst #RobynOBrien pointed to 64 countries where they are already required to include those labels. The details of this new bill have yet to be worked out. That responsibility falls on the Department of Agriculture, which will have 2 years to write up the rules.
