A daytrip to my girls spot today. I haven’t been there since March. It needed a clean up, new flowers, more stickers (always!). I love seeing what others leave there for Olivia. I find new “trinkets”...or letters placed under the rocks, artwork. And even though the weather has washed away the words/colors, I am so grateful to those who took the time to think of her and travel there. I hate what this spot represents! But it’s something that I will forever consider mine...mine to care for. #grief#childloss#sadness#roadsidememorials#alwaysremember#almost2years#october29 Thanks @liliaann.medinaa for the help!
No one ever talks about what you’re supposed to do with the good memories you still have after being severely betrayed. My marriage wasn’t horrible. We had a lot of really great times together. The only thing tainting these memories is the sense of complete loss. It mostly happens when I’m driving — I’ll pass a place where Jay and I have been: a place I once had a fond memory of. Then it happens, I’m abruptly hit in the face with a singular thought: “Something I loved died here.” #starlingstories#healinginprocess#roadsidememorials#mydarlingstarling#tougholbird#starlingoftheday#hopeandhealing

RMDB was started to preserve information about Roadside Memorials before they are weathered, damaged or removed. Naturally over time they get worn and are not as frequently maintained but this is not bad, this is the loved one healing and recovering from the tragedy. Still, they are not forgotten, this is why RMDB is here. #RMDB#roadsidememorial#roadsidememorials#ghostbikes
20 years ago I photographed lots of roadside memorials using my mamiyaRZ 67, Fiji Velvia transparency and a Polaroid back.
I’m revisiting days Simon memorials. I used Velvia again but it was out of date stock. Hence the result.
#RoadSideMemorials#DontrellBoykins#JeromeEvans#LetsGoFishing Highway90 #BayouBlack News article dated 10/8/2014: Two men were killed Wednesday morning when the car they were in struck a tree, flipped and went into Bayou Black in Gibson, State Police said.
Police identified the victims as Jerome Evans, 23, and Dontrell Boykin, 31, both of Gray.
State Police spokesman Greg Marchand said Evans and Boykin were traveling west on La. 182 near Oak Forest Drive when the 2005 Toyota Camry they were in went off the right side of the highway. The Camry hit a tree, overturned and went into the bayou, where it was partially submerged.
Marchand said both men were trapped in the car, but it’s unclear which one was driving. The driver was passing through moderate fog and failed to negotiate a left curve, he said.
State Police Troop C responded to the crash about 7:40 a.m. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and West Terrebonne Volunteer Fire Department were also at the scene.
Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, Marchand said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office, but the cause and time of death have not yet been determined.
The crash is being investigated and it’s unknown if impairment was a factor, Marchand said. Blood was taken from Evans and Boykin for routine toxicology tests, and results are pending.
Marchand, who wasn’t at the scene, said emergency personnel actively work to break windows and free anyone trapped in a submerged vehicle. For safety concerns, civilians are not allowed to assist in such rescues.
