The body's cues for care // one of the topics of discussion this past weekend in #rmmtt and apparently a lesson I needed to hear myself.

This teacher training weekend was the hardest one on me yet. I'm usually really good at protecting my energy, but I went in with not much energy to begin with.

Coming home on Sunday, I had a mini anxiety attack before bed. Monday, I didn't have much time to feel the feels bc of having to launch the 30day challenge. I went into robot hustler mode in the morning. The rest of the day, I felt like my lungs were being crushed by someone's unrelenting grip. Tuesday, I had an intense episode in the morning. Even after napping and getting a massage, the waves of mega overwhelm were still there. So I called off my classes.

Originally I wasn't going to share why I needed to rest. But then I realized we all should be more open about what we need to take care of our MENTAL HEALTH. Especially as someone trying to be a community leader. No one is immune. With what our society has come to ask of us, we are all IN IT. We are all affected.

As some of you know, building @ritualisland's brick and mortar home has become more challenging and expensive than we prepared for. And we prepared for quite the uphill climb. Troubleshooting this news, plus keeping up the regular hustle (which is mega), plus being married and mother of two "spirited" boys, plus running and writing the teacher training, left little to no space to take care of myself. Despite my body's cues for care, my ego believed we couldn't stop. So after weeks, my body and breath forced me stop.

Our bodies are so incredible and hold all the wisdom of what we need to take care. Our ego, our societal programming, gets in the way.

I'm doing better today. My breaths don't feel as laboured. Don't feel bad or sorry for me. I'm good.

Instead, feel inspired to take care of yourself. Despite what you believe. Despite who you think you're letting down. YOUR well-being comes first. Listen to your body. It knows. Ask for help. People will come through.

I love me.
I love you.
Love yourself too, k?

WHAT. A. WEEKEND. Weekend 7 of #rmmtt and wow did we live&learn that change is the only constant. From ecstatic playful energy on Saturday, exploring how props can amplify our practice.. to heavy loaded energy on Sunday, experiencing how deep muscle release can stir up ALL our shit. The work we do in this training goes wayyyyy beyond movement, through movement. We work and face our entire being. Sometimes she happy. Sometimes she ain't. All the time, she perfect. We are all in this.

Now excuse me while I deal with my energy hangover.

Today I’m not going to @uoftlibraries because I don’t work there anymore. In January, I’m joining the library at @nyuniversity which, of course, also means I’m moving to New York City. It’s been a really weird and intense couple months both making the decision and moving it forward. And now it’s here.

Today is the first day towards this new chapter and I’m really fucking excited. Thank you forever and ever to @mm_hamont for listening to my constant overanalyzing and always being up for an adventure; my Toronto coven for supporting me and letting me go, even though in a lot of ways this is a bummer @ky_lae @rutabeagle @barneslie @microformed; to my new bud @royolaroyola for listening endlessly and mmhmmming for months and for lighting my brain on fire with #rmmtt and making Hamilton home.

All I’ve learned in life is that plans are useless and you gotta seize the good gut feels opportunities when they present themselves. Pumped for my new chapter but also pumped for 2.5 months of freedom.

Spent the weekend as my alter ego — yoga/pilates teacher/student — at the Cotton Factory where my designer eyes were wild with inspiration. Old buildings: I love you. Forever. And ever. (And ever).

Our seventh weekend together for #rmmtt. These beautiful beings in this beautiful space. This weekend is all about going with the flow. As our bodies move through shapes, injury, age, pregnancy, how can our movement practice support us? How can we remember that our best changes from day to day, so that our movement practice serves rather than hinders us? How can we play with the support of props to modify or amplify our practice? How can we keep our chill when our body seems unrecognizable because of the changes its constantly undergoing?

Even when I’m sick I know that I’m being well taken care of; so much so that I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratefulness for the life I’ve cultivated and my family which has grown so much in the last year. My throat is sore, and I’m not myself, but my heart is so full. Overflowing with love and light. I love you all ✨
special shoutout to the love of my life @woozle.wuzzle & #rmmtt (miss you guys with huge chunks of my heart)

Spent Saturday night looking at this beautiful wall alongside a pack of incredible women. Nothing like a night out to re-inspire.

Plant friends: we love you.
🍃 🍃 🍃
Greenery in our work spaces can do us a whole lot of good. A few easy to maintain plants freshen up our day to day by reminding us what’s on the other side of our four walls, cleaning the air, and sparking some joy.
🍃🍃🍃
Are you an #officeplants devotee? I ( @lisagayhart ) have a few succulents and a curly bamboo in my home office that I haven’t managed to kill (yet). I dream of a lush office space to call my own! Other tips for bringing the outside in:
🍃🍃🍃
Stretch your eye muscles: look up from screens and out the window or across the room. Eyes need variety too.
🍃🍃🍃
Take a mini break and go outside, even for five minutes. We need fresh air! Bonus if there’s a park or green space for a quick stroll or snack.
🍃🍃🍃
Open a window. So simple and so effective.

Another beautiful and healing weekend with the @ritualisland #rmmtt crew. We grounded physically and beyond physically. Waking up our feet, waking up our awareness of breath, sensation and thoughts. We explored the necessary shake up of the great upheaval - when we are called to make hard choices or face our truth, to tear down a weak structure (failing relationships with people, jobs, places), strengthen our foundation (core values, connection to body) and rebuild, expand, reach out.

Every one of these weekends, I feel affirmed that I'm doing exactly what I need to be doing. Leading this program, sharing space, empowering other women, empowers me.

If you're curious, if you're feeling restless or itching for a shake up... If you're ready to be supported during a great upheaval, maybe this program is for you.

We had the pleasure of learning with @natalie.matias today in our #rmmtt. She gave us an intro to mindfulness meditation and shared some tools on how to invite mindfulness and presencing in our daily lives that don't necessarily require a formal sitting practice.

Here, Natalie is sharing what is physiologically happening when one "flips one's lid". We explored how mindfulness can allow us to move beyond sympathetic nervous system processing so that we are more adequately responding to life rather than reacting.

What another wonderful weekend learning, growing, releasing and strengthening in community. Many expressed this weekend was their favourite to date. GROUNDING. Grounding physically and metaphysically. Grounding through strengthening our connection to the earth through waking up our feet. Grounding through strengthening our inner connection to ourselves through breath and mindfulness. Grounding by radically accepting what needs tearing down so we can rebuild.

Happy Grounding, y'all.

It's our 6th teacher training weekend together. This time we're gathering in a new space run by our new-and-fast friends @momentumhamont.

I met @brianhumphreymomentum a mere couple weeks ago. We were encouraged by a mutual student of ours, @annlamanes, to meet as we'd probably hit it off. We spoke for 2hrs and could have gone much longer, at @durandcoffee. We bonded over our shared love of mindfulness and movement, shared views on politics and shared dedication to showing up in the small business sphere with a strong community focus.

Our usual #rmmtt gathering space at @thesevalife suffered damages from a big fire earlier this week. Community rushed to support Nicole and Chris to help while they're away on their animal compassion tour.

In a lurch of needing to find a new place for our 22 students to meet, I called Brian. "I know we just met, but I have the biggest favour to ask." He heard our story and said, "This is why we met when we did, to lean on each other. This is how love and community works." My heart burst.

How apt that our theme this weekend is "Be Grounded: Finding and creating a strong foundation". Physically this means healthy feet and strong balance. Metaphysically it means support through community, love of self and love of others.

Feeling mad love and gratitude for all the ways community showed up this week.

Goes to show the benefits of working hard, being nice, being open and asking for help.

Happy Sunday, friends. We are all blessed. In one way or another, we have wins to celebrate.

Vulnerability is hard, but important.
Yesterday in opening circle of #RMMTT @royolaroyola asked us to share how we react when we are in upheaval. In a room full of women with varied stories and backgrounds we all shared space. There were some key patterns that came up. Mostly that we all have coping mechanisms that enable us to dismiss our emotions and feelings. To diminish, be strong and move on. But how does that serve?
As my friends start to have families of their own, these topics and conversation are manifesting in my personal life, not just in prompted situations. Caring for children is magical, rewarding, beautiful.... but also tiring, challenging and it can be severely isolating. It’s so easy for us to glaze over these challenges. Keep our tears and feelings to ourselves, and post the sparkly moments on social media. But you know what, it’s ok to be soft, it’s ok to be sad, it’s ok to be not ok. In my experience, what’s not ok is to not share, to not be heard, and to not be supported. We don’t live in tribes anymore. Most of us don’t even have our family close, or able to support us as much as generations before may have. There is magic in simply having someone listen to you. In being able to open up, to let that vulnerability flow out, to not necessarily get advice, but to be FULLY heard. So let that softness in, take up space with your emotions, notice how it ripples through your body, and TALK THAT SHIT OUT. I promise, it’s cathartic, and it’s healing. ✨

Sometimes we don’t have an hour+ for exercise (okay, a lot of times). But most of us can sprinkle in movement throughout the day, rather than one structured workout.
📱📱📱
Moving away from an “exercise mindset” has shown me how much movement is possible in my daily life. I (@lisagayhart ) work in an office at a desk, all bookmarked by a long commute. To say the least, I’ve had to get creative in order to fit in more movement.
📱📱📱
I’ve learned to appreciate smaller movements: stretching my hands and thumbs after scrolling, looking away from my monitor to flex my eyes, reaching overhead more often to mobilize my shoulders, carrying my groceries, and sitting on the floor to open up my hips while Netflixing.
📱📱📱
Check out a full day’s worth of movement in the article linked in our bio for some interesting and surprising ways to integrate more movement - and less screen time - into our lives.

FIRST IGTV EPISODE IS LIVE! The topic is how cute babies are when they’re trying foods for the first time...jk jk, it’s about DIGESTION BASICS and I swear you’re going to love it more than you think.
〰️
Robin and I were chatting after the last #RMMTT weekend about how into the physiology lecture the students seemed to be and wondering if there was another way to share the info that had piqued their interest. The focus of the weekend was the trunk and so the lecture covered what goes on in your belly beneath those strong ass core muscles. We settled on making a few IGTV episodes and number 1 is all about digestion basics! There’s info in there around how the tiniest and most basic of changes (that don’t have anything to do with what you’re actually eating) around how you eat could have a huge impact on how you feel when you’re done.
〰️
Bear with us as we sort out how to make videos better suited to IGTV - in the meantime, watch, send questions/comments/suggestions our way! 😋

What's going on in my belly?
PART 1: Digestion Basics

This is the first in a series Robin & I came up with after I had a bit too much fun doing the physiology lecture for a weekend of the Ritual Movement Method Teacher Training (#RMMTT) that was focused on the trunk. The goal of sharing this information with budding RMM teachers was to draw connections between what is going on in your gut and how you feel and brainstorm ways we might move beyond muscles to target the function of the core through mindful movement.
The focus of this first video is digestion - what organs are doing the work, what is actually happening after you eat something, and at what points can we participate in what's going on in there just by paying attention. Hit me up with your questions and comments! <3

Slow reading. We’re talking single tasking, distraction free, absorbed reading. Probably in print. Maybe alone.
📚📚📚
A large portion of our reading is done online. This is fine - as long as we can continue to read deeply, dig into a piece, connect. I (@lisagayhart) have noticed myself reading in interrupted spurts, jumping from one thing to another, not really absorbing anything.
📚📚📚
As I have been down with a small injury that requires rest, I’ve been reading a lot. I watched as my attention span grew and stabilized with the passing hours. I felt less likely to reach for my phone as I became more and more absorbed into the material.
📚📚📚
Just like our bods, our attention requires some love to stay healthy and flexible. And, just like our bods, small chunks of time can do wonders. Ten, fifteen, twenty minutes are more than enough to work those attention muscles.
📚📚📚
p.s. Your favourite librarian loves to read and has some time. Hit me with your recs: @lisagayhart

I had major FOMO this weekend: I was laid out on the couch with a minor injury, living that RICE life. I missed Supercrawl, the last weekend of summer, and a yoga date with my mom.
📱📱📱
Writing the column has inspired me to investigate ways tech can help me feel connected in lonely moments. I was craving movement but had to get creative. Sifting through the GoodBodyFeel videos, led by the magical @royolaroyola, I found a couple that worked with my temporary limitation. Working through the sequences at home allowed me to focus on what my body can do to get some #goodbodyfeel despite minor physical annoyances (and my own terrible bout of self pity…). Technology for the win this weekend.

I’m (@lisagayhart) back to my normal routine after two weeks of holidays, including a week in New York. While away, I left my phone on airplane mode and took only a single picture. The first few days, I found myself thinking in terms of documenting my travels instead of actually experiencing them. It shocked me that I sometimes saw situations from an outside observer’s lens: mentally captioning a scene for an Instagram story or funny update in the group chat. Instead of just BEING in a beautiful park, I framed the scene in my mind as if retelling it for an online audience.
📱📱📱
I’m often torn between documenting for the future and staying present in the moment. Studies show that taking a picture greatly reduces your ability to actually recall the image or event in the future. Turns out, staying in the moment and really experiencing the thing allows you to recall it in greater detail later.
📱📱📱
All week my goal was to just BE in the city: wander with my eyes open and up, sit and watch, be slow in a vortex of activity. Will I regret this next week?
📱📱📱
I don’t have an answer to the question of how best to balance documenting, sharing, and creatively expressing oneself online (which is fun!), with staying present and immersing in the immediate experience. I plan to play around with this balance this fall and try to find what works for me. What works for you?

Every BODY deserves to feel divine.

Since launching #rmmtt, the @ritualisland teacher training program, I have gained back the weight I had shed after birthing Parker.

I've been spending more time writing about how to teach movement, than actually moving my body. I've been mindlessly stress eating, thinking food will ground me down from the whirlwind in my mind full of to-do-lists. I haven't been putting myself first and I feel embarrassed in my body. Then I feel ashamed for being embarrassed about my body. Then I feel angry at myself for not walking the walk. And so goes the spiral into rumination.

This shoot for @mettamadehamont was really healing for me. For the first time in months, seeing these shots by @ohsierracreative, I felt beautiful. Comfortable in these clothes. At home in my skin.

Morgan, one of the brains behind Metta Made, has been coming to my classes for a while now. She recently shared with me how my classes helped her shift out of what her body looked like, and into how it felt. Her hope with Metta is to create the same feel through clothes. Beauty and comfort in every size the body fluctuates through. She bravely shared her healing journey with disordered eating on our blog (Link in bio // Reclaiming My Health). Here's to more of us sharing our stories, healing our relationships with self and encouraging others to be friends with their body.

A behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a yoga/movement class. Those teachers make it look soooo easy, but each individual pose is sequenced very intentionally. Learning the @ritualisland movement method has been quite the ride so far. Honoured to be on this wild ride with a brilliant group of women, brought together and led by the fiercely talented @royolaroyola who is shaking things up in Hamilton. Have so much appreciation for the work teachers put in to give students an amazing experience opening their bodies, waking things up, and coming off the mat lighter and more energized. I’m still a newb but I’m getting there! 🧘‍♀️✌️🌊 #RMMTT #yogateachertraining #movementismedicine #yogaeverydamnday #ytt #pilates #moveyourbody #hamiltonontario

Out of office and offline. I, @lisagayhart, am taking a break from screens while on vacation. For three days, along with a small group of #rmmtt buds, I’m shutting down all my devices and turning off all my screens.
📱📱📱
I’m curious to see what will come up in the absence of my usual online habits. What will take the place of screen time? What will I miss? Will I feel left out? Relieved?
📱📱📱
How do you think you would react to going offline? Even if you can’t manage a break, can you take a mental tour through leaving your devices behind? What do you miss?
📱📱📱
Check back for a full recap of our screen free experience in September.

Maybe we’ve spent less time on your devices this summer and we’re worried about returning to the same habits in the fall. Digital wellness is all about balance. Can we think of adding instead of taking away?
📱📱📱
Try this mini sequence to balance out how our bodies adapt around devices. Maybe we sneak it in before we eat lunch, as we prep to head to a meeting, before our commute, after dropping the kids off for the day.
📱📱📱
Doable in an uncomfortable dress shirt, even after a hectic and rainy commute 😕

#tbt to a study session during my vacation that was two weeks ago already! I have dropped a couple of little hints about what I’ve been up to, but this past weekend has inspired me to share more. I have been studying to be able to add movement classes to the services we offer at Aloft. Opening my own business showed me how much I really love helping you all, and I wanted to be able to do more. I also wanted to be able to do it for a long time without feeling too tired and sore myself. Enter @ritualisland and the wonderful #rmmtt program. I’m learning to put together classes in ways that make sense for our bodies and our lives. All these exciting connections are happening between the work I’ve done so far and the work I see ahead of me over then next few months and beyond. It’s so cool. It’s so fun. It’s got me all charged up and I can’t wait to be sharing it with you. Let me know if you want to be part of my learning process and we’ll make time to start putting your body in motion, and REALLY start changing how you feel.

// T E C H W E L L N E S S T U E S D A Y // Much has been written about morning routines. We all want to start the day on the right foot but, for many of us, our first task upon waking is reaching for our cell phones.
📱📱📱
Those few minutes scrolling, reading the news, or peaking at email before getting out of bed add up. Early morning scrolling takes a toll on our health. It can cause us to start the day stressed, distracted, jealous, anxious, and more.
📱📱📱
Try some of these ideas for a phone free morning:
-Use a real alarm clock
-Keep your phone out of the bedroom
-Eat breakfast without your phone
-Take a phone break on your commute
-Listen to music instead of podcasts
-Read a print magazine or newspaper
-Use an ereader instead of your phone

SURRENDER
✨
It’s been a weird week. Being stranded at home with a teething/sick baby was not my plan. I had things to do, places we were gonna go. But #motherhood is a lesson of surrender, and that’s what I had to do. I get frustrated, anxious, and lonely when I feel isolated at home with just me and the babe, it’s an unspoken aspect of motherhood that gets pushed behind all the overwhelmingly joyous moments. It’s not always nice, or positive, or easy, but it’s real.

Today I turned on one of my old class playlists, turned my phone off and ignored the monitor for 30 minutes and just let myself MOVE. And it felt so good. I sat outside after, and listened to the birds and cicadas in my sweaty gear, and had a moment of gratitude. Things will often not go your way, you will often be forced to slow down, but in that moment can you let that be a lesson. Can you let things unravel the way they will and try to let it go? These things are my constant practice, quelling the need I have to control things and please everyone.
I’m so looking forward to spending some time with me, and with part of my new community this weekend at @ritualisland TT #RMMTT . When we are in circle, we all get a chance to work on ourselves, as well as let our work help others. It’s a powerful thing really. When we all surrender our minds, our bodies, our beliefs over to the fact that there is much more that unites us then divides us, that’s when we can let the magic happen.

Do you start the week with big goals but end up feeling busy, not productive?
📱📱
We can make time for the work that matters to us through rituals and habits. Setting one intention and making space for it daily fosters attention and focus as a habit.
📱📱
For me (@lisagayhart), I’m tackling my creative work first thing in the morning, in small chunks, before I scroll or get to emails.

CREATIVITY IN MOTION // This Friday join us for a short and sweet movement class with @royolaroyola followed by a collage workshop with @mouthfullofstars. FREE! 7pm at the @at_theagh as part of #freefriday. RSVP link in bio.
⚡
Creativity is more embodied than some of us like to think. Move, juice the joints, get the fluid flowing throughout the body and notice how that shifts the ability to creatively express. Whether you identify as an artist or not (ahem you ARE), join us for this exploration.
⚡
Robin has been dreaming up a movement and art workshop for a few years now and we're so excited that the first one is happening with Stylo! Incredible artist and #rmmtt student. Stay tuned for more from us and for more workshops like this with other working artists of different modalities.
⚡
A movement practice, in our opinion, isn't about what we do with our bodies, but what it does for our BEING. How it shifts, unravels, exposes what we have and need. Join us and let's go beyond movement.

We’re deep in it now: summer mode. With a long weekend coming up, we have an excellent opportunity to check in on how we’re experiencing these summer months. Can we connect more deeply with what’s happening around us?
📱
Even if we feel full from a lovely summer season, if often seems as though it’s raced by. This weekend, let’s try prioritizing our real life experiences in an effort to capture the goodness of the season.
📱
Does taking a photo help you remember the moment or detract from the experience?
📱
Does social media fracture our attention during conversations or add an interesting dimension?
📱
Do online maps take away from the adventure or add a sense of security to the journey?
📱
Does the feeling of a phone in your pocket distract and tempt, or reassure?
📱
Let this long weekend be an opportunity to reflect on how we can bring intention to our technology use and experiment with new ways of (dis)connection. // discussion by @lisagayhart

Friends! To say I'm super excited about my new collaborative class with @mouthfullofstars, is an understatement!
⚡
CREATIVITY IN MOTION // a short and sweet movement class followed by a collage workshop. FREE! 7:15pm at the @at_theagh as part of #freefriday. RSVP link in bio.
⚡
Creativity is more embodied than some of us like to think. Move, juice the joints, get the fluid flowing throughout the body and notice how that shifts the ability to creatively express. Whether you identify as an artist or not (ahem you ARE), join us for this exploration.
⚡
I've been dreaming up a movement and art workshop for a few years now and am so excited that the first one is happening with Stylo! Incredible artist and #rmmtt student. Stay tuned for more from us and for more workshops like this with other working artists of different modalities.
⚡
A movement practice, for me, isn't about what we do with our bodies, but what it does for our BEING. How it shifts, unravels, exposes what we have and need. Join me and let's go beyond movement.

Community is the driving force behind social media. Striking a balance between our online lives and our digital lives can feel like it’s coming at the expense of connection and community.
📱
Summer is the perfect time to experiment with this balance, since we’re more likely to be with our communities in real life. While we’re enjoying our summer lives, we can explore deemphasizing the digital side: check Instagram at specific intervals; take a weekend away from social media; try tech free Sundays; take a walk or run an errand without our phones; pause before deciding to take pictures at an event. Experiment with a different balance and see if anything shifts.
📱
While experimenting with a digital summer vacation, do you feel more or less connected to community?

Do we need to respond to every notification right away? Are all notifications created equal?
📱📱📱
Set the bar low. We can manage others’ expectations of how and when we will respond to their message. Play around with waiting before sending a non-urgent response and use that time for something else.
☀️☀️☀️
The summer is the perfect opportunity to experiment with our response times. Let’s reclaim those minutes! They add up. They become days.
📱📱📱
How can we delay our response times? Some great comments from last week: turning off notifications to non-essentials / batch checking messages at certain times of day / putting our phone away for the night.

I deliberately wanted to take some time to process the past weekend before I spilled my guts on social media. Coming into some-one else’s space can be intimidating, and I’ll openly admit that I have my bouts of #impostersyndrome , as a lot of us (a lot of us womyn identifying humans... because you know... the patriarchy) can. But the #rmmtt students and faculty were nothing short of magical. The safe space @royolaroyola has created in that room is IMPRESSIVE. It’s refreshing to hear people speak vulnerable truths in front of a large group. To be ok saying that maybe today you are not ok, because covering all feels with a smile and a positive attitude is not helpful, and people who are immersing themselves in a program like this are usually coming to come kind of junction. A call to action, a call for change, a call to look within, and that’s not all sunshine and lollipops. We all tell ourselves stories... about our lives, our bodies... our hearts. The movement practice we believe in, is physical, yes... but it’s about much more then that. How can we serve ourselves and others, if we keep telling ourselves the same old shit over and over. Movement can be a way to shed layers, to shake off what no longer serves you, to feel strong in your mind-body connection, to be PRESENT. Yoga, Pilates, cardio dance parties... whatever you are into, it can look superficial... but if you are moving consciously, working with yourself, not against, it can be transformative. STRONG IS NOT A LOOK. It’s a feeling.
I’m so excited to be part of the @ritualisland team, and all the strong humans that are part of such an amazing community ❤️

It’s time for another T E C H W E L L N E S S T U E S D A Y!
Our phones are designed to keep us coming back for more and more throughout the day. Simple shifts in how we use our phones puts the control back in our hands.
*
Turn off notifications (except from real people) and hide time sucking apps in a seperate folder to keep the noise down.
*
Turn off cellular data (or all data!) on heavily used apps. Finding wifi or turning on data transforms a default action into an intentional choice.
*
Swap your phone for an alarm clock to decrease scrolling before bed or first thing in the morning.
*
Do you have a favourite strategy for managing your phone use?
For more strategies and a list of apps, check out the full article in our Linktr.ee.

This past weekend marked our third weekend of #rmmtt. We're a quarter of the way in and we've already unpacked, uncovered, unlearned, relearned, shared and felt sooooo much together.
⚡
The next time we meet, the trainees will teach to the entire group for the first time. I set up this little altar so they could ceremoniously choose their sequence theme, but also be reminded of some key lessons of stepping into their greatness.
⚡
1 // You are perfect in all of your rough, raw, realness.
⚡
2 // Tell the mean bitch in your head to shut the fuck up.
⚡
3 // You are made of star stuff.
⚡
I hope these prompts serve YOU at the start of your week. Remember your greatness. Search for the little wins. They are everywhere and together they amount to the big win of feeling GOOD.

While Momma had another transformative weekend with the empowering women of #rmmtt, the kidlets had two awesome afternoons with dad. Sometimes we forget the people who make it possible for us to grow. Sometimes we take them for granted. So thank you, Willis, for being the best damn dad and just dealing with it all so I can grow, heal and breathe. And many thanks to the @ritualisland community. I am deeply grateful to be a part of it and to be reminded to look for the WINS. Aspiring to keep that my motto this month. Look. For. The. Wins. They’re fucking everywhere. 🙏🏻

Oh the giggles and grunts today during our third #rmmtt weekend. We're basically all best friends now, right?
⚡
But what is the Ritual Movement Method? Ya, good question... Not your run-of-the-mill teacher training. We go deep. We explore lots. We move to find the best route home to ourselves. We share to find the best way to guide others home to themselves. We heal our injuries and our hurt, so we can encourage others to do the same and demonstrate that it is possible.
⚡
We are all equal, so we work in a circle, so we can learn from each other. There is no front or back or higher up in the room. We are all teachers and we are all students and TOGETHER we raise the vibe.

So excited to officially let you all know that I’ll be joining @royolaroyola / @ritualisland for this weekend’s #rmmtt session! Robyn and I had a meeting today, and after a couple of hours of chatting over delicious food, coffee... and cake at @saltyespresso , I’m excited as ever! I haven’t been in a teacher trainee environment since @yogadetour in 2016, and I have NEVER had any role in teaching teachers. I’m so excited to meet and work with this amazing, diverse group of women. Usually, when individuals decide to take on a teacher training of sorts, it’s a signal that there are big changes going on in their lives, if you’ve ever been in a group like this, you know it’s a powerful dynamic. Thank you so much to Robin for inviting me into her space. So far, the vibe I get in Hamilton is that there is a genuine feeling of community. I am so so fortunate to be included in this one. Xo

In this space, we push into instability, we sit with our doubts and our hopes. In this space we take care of our bodies, so we can take care of the people close to us, so they can take care of those close to them.
The more we talk to ourselves, the more we talk to each other, the more we realize, release and eventually reveal. In this space, love and all is coming.

On Saturday at #rmmtt we started the day off with a hip opening butt busting short class with @royolaroyola, and despite feeling totally pooped at the beginning of it I felt motivated to really “try my best” and push myself. For the past two months I haven’t been feeling super great and I keep having these two conflicting thoughts - that I so badly feel like I need/want to be almost aggressively active but that I’m not able to do that because of how I’m feeling. After Robin’s class I felt literally the best I’ve felt in months. What kind of artificial barrier is this idea that I can’t be active because I don’t feel well?? How come it didn’t even occur to me that maybe I don’t feel well because I’ve prioritized everything (read: work, mostly) above moving my body. Yesterday I had a couple of hours of childcare before seeing patients in the evening and no super pressing work so I took my (sad, creaky, unused & so out of shape) mountain bike to Christie Lake and then went for a swim and damn did it feel good 🚲🏊🏼‍♂️💚
On Saturday at #rmmtt  we started the day off with a hip opening butt busting short class with @royolaroyola, and despite feeling totally pooped at the beginning of it I felt motivated to really “try my best” and push myself. Yesterday was an awesome day. We camped out at @thesevalife HQ all day and it was glorious!
▫️
We started off with the first #ritualflow PWYC class, benefitting the Interval House (join us next week!). And carried through with #rmmtt weekend 2!
▫️
@dr.emilybnd taught us the language of our muscles, unpacking sensations of cramps, delayed onset muscle soreness and injury.
▫️
@royolaroyola mobilized and fired up our hips, because goddamn, we carry so much GUNK in there!
▫️
We trained our endurance and strength to dismantle the patriarchy to juicy R&B tunes.
▫️
We laughed, we cried, we stunk up the place with our good juju.
▫️
It was a good day.

Remember when we were young and Saturday nights were BARELY getting started at 8:30? Fast forward to tonight: I bailed on plans to go out and instead I’m in for the night with homework (for class and life), sipping a local beer (with a pretty sweet design) and then working on a deadline. Sidenote to this ramble: Bless the woman at the LCBO who carded me today when I bought it. I needed that this week. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 .

The sweetest gift from my sweetest sis for creating, writing, designing and filling my first teacher training, the #ritualmovementmethod aka #rmmtt, an approach committed to access and diversity.
▫️
I've always struggled with body image. And although it's something I'll probably always be challenged by, ever since having my children, I'm like, FUCK IT. Chasing and creating GOODBODYFEEL over anything else.
▫️
⚡Every BODY is a damn temple.
⚡Every BODY deserves to take up space and feel good.
⚡So here's to every B O D Y .

Gotta get in on the #RMMTT homework series. Reading about the trunk last weekend in the campsite while the kids snoozed. Loving learning about our magical bodies and their structures! .
