feeling a little bukowski tonight.
charles bukowski is one of my favorite writers by the way, and if you didn’t understand this quote... well here you go.
everybody tells you what kills. “depression kills”
this kills, that kills.
and you know what? it’s fine. actually, it’s appreciated too.
one needs people around them that tells them what isn’t good for them. and has good reasons to back their statement.
but why doesn’t anybody do the same for positive things? why are we always so persistent to only tell people to ‘stop’ something — which again is good.
but why don’t we develop a habit of telling them to ‘start’ something too.
a good habit.
maybe tell them “internships are healthy”, “working out is not just good for your body, but for your emotional energy too”, “praying is workout for the soul”, “here’s some music that’ll fight off your depression dementors.”
i recently for the first time in my life, shared my personal view of religion with my best friend. and i’m very personal about religion and never talk about it, to anyone. and also know that religion isn’t something that you should force down somebody’s throat. i just told him how it makes me feel.
he didn’t ask for it. but i just told him anyway, because i’m his best friend and if something makes me happy it would make him happy too.
and guess what? best decision ever.
now we both are constantly checking on each other’s souls, and are at peace too. the best thing is having a team member with you in your spiritual journey.
my point is, i don’t know why i keep my faith so personal to me. and yes, again don’t get me wrong. faith is something very very personal.
but if something makes your soul happy, makes you ‘live’ wouldn’t you want to share it with your loved ones?
just how you’d tell them to stop something that ‘kills’.
break this cycle by also sharing the positives in this world to the people you care about as much as you can.
did you think i was a city
big enough for a weekend getaway
i am the town surrounding it
the one you've never heard of
but always pass through
there are no neon lights here
no skyscapers or statues
but there is thunder
for i make bridges tremble
i am not street meat i am homemade jam
thick enough to cut the sweetest
thing you lips will touch
i am not police sirens
i am the crackle of a fireplace
i'd burn you and you still
couldn't take your eyes off of me
cause i'd look so beautiful doing it
i am not a hotel room i am home
i am not the whiskey you want
i am the water you need
don't come here with expectations
and try to make a vacation out of me

just be yourself.
i know it’s hard to be yourself. people are going to judge you if you do something weird or if you do something crazy. it’s hard being yourself and doing whatever you feel like doing because there will always be people judging.
i know it’s hard to be yourself. your insecurities will keep telling you you’re not good enough and there’s always someone who’s better than you. your insecurities will lower your self esteem and confidence by a lot.
i know it’s hard to be yourself. it’ll take a lot of effort and courage to wake up each day trying while getting judged and criticised by everyone. eventually, you’ll get tired of trying and take the easy way out.
i know it’s hard to be yourself but you’re worth the time and effort. in the end, you are the biggest project you’ll ever work on in your life. you are the biggest investment you’ll ever invest in your life. if this isn’t worth the effort, what is?
i know it’s hard to be yourself but if you don’t even give yourself a chance to find out what you can be, you’ve lost the battle. don’t you at least want to feel alive before you die?
i know it’s hard to be yourself but your parents did not give birth to you and raise you up so that you can go and be like someone else. they want you to be something more. something only you can do and achieve. and by becoming someone else, you’ll never be able to accomplish that something.
i know it’s hard to be yourself but this is the only life you have. are you going to spend it doing nothing because you are afraid of what others think of you? or are you going to say screw it and do everything you’ve ever dreamed of?
i know it’s hard to be yourself but i promise you it’ll all be worth it. nothing worth having comes easy.
it’s okay to take a short break sometimes. life is just like a marathon. go slow and steady.
it’s okay to break down sometimes. we are all human with emotions. it’s part and parcel of life. just make sure that when you break down, you wouldn’t do anything that will harm yourself.
it’s okay to fall short sometimes. there is no success without a little failure. just remember that you are strong and capable enough to achieve anything.

do not be ashamed of who you are. of what interest you. of what brings you peace. your skin is your skin and your heart is your heart. and what you feel is real. don't question it. don't be afraid of what your soul is telling you. of what your heart really wants. if you don't want something anymore then it is okay to leave it behind. it is okay to let it go. no matter who you hurt. you have to do what is meant for you. follow your own path. be your own guide and hold your own hand sometimes. your life is your life. your mind is your mind. find your purpose. find it. and never stop chasing it. never stop believing in yourself. and never stop collecting what you've lost. everyone needs to be reminded of this. because sometimes life gets so hard… that it makes us all forget what we deserve. makes us all forget who we really are. #rmdrake
then, she began to breathe,
and live, and every moment
took her to a place where
goodbye were hard to come
by. she was in love, but not
in love with someone or,
something, she was in love
with her life. and for the
first time, in a long time,
everything was inspiring.

Romanticism vs Realism. We all need to be somewhere in the middle. Life is difficult, some things don’t work out, but without hope how are we supposed to move forward? The skies are reachable even at our lowest points.
Sometime you just have to trust what God has planned for you. No matter how tragic life gets, no matter what you lose or what you sacrifice. Timing is everything, perspective is important and whether or not you find the lesson in what hurts... is completely up to you. Just keep your heart in the right place and never settle for less.
