Since May 18, our band Envy has been playing every weekend and we've called it our "summer tour" as we've played not only in Calgary but in Lake Louise, Airdrie and Langdon too.
Last Saturday, our gig at the Kilt n Caber was our last before we go on a short summer break to recharge our batteries. I've been busy the past few days before our show and was a bit tired so I told myself, since it was a bit of a slow night, I will just take it easy and not "rock" too much. My band-mates were also been busy with their day jobs and were a bit physically tired too, so I thought, looks like we will just "relax" a bit in our performance.
Some friends came to watch us and we already felt the love and energy from them before we started our show. In the first few songs, we were all adjusting our volume levels, feeling our vibe for the night and taking in what we can from the crowd. But by a few songs into our set, we just simply, as we always do, put on a show and cranked our performance to full level. Music always gives us our adrenaline rush and this night was no exception. We went from like 80 kph to like 250 kph in a few minutes! And the crowd was very receptive and appreciative of our performance. Our worries and fatigue simply faded away as we poured our hearts and soul in every song we did.
We ended the night with so many people in the crowd coming up to us, thanking us for the show, complementing us for our band chemistry and musicianship and say that they are blown away by our performance and musical talents. I simply tell them that we as musicians practice a lot individually and as a band and we have no egos. But most important of all, we are not only band-mates but really close friends.
We will be back to our usual "rock and roll" lifestyle in September and we will be performing in some new venues and events, so we are really excited for that.
To all our friends who always support us, a heartfelt thank you.
Drew brought the beats back w @billybauerbandofficial after his wrist injury hiatus and it was early enough that we got to go see! Unfortunately he isn’t pictured here, (my shots of him were shaky as I was simultaneously chasing after Imogen) Always a good time @heartofbethlehem Tunes at Twilight
