New blog post! "This last weekend, we had the blessing of spending some time away while the babies were loved on by their grandparents. The main thing I was looking for this last weekend was “quiet”. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the noise of toddlers, a dog, cats, and city traffic/sirens, it’s just that it makes me appreciate the quiet even more.
I like noisy toys for this reason: when I’m working in the kitchen, I know where my kids are and what they are doing. When one of the kids, or the dog, or the cats isn’t here, my home feels incomplete. With all the noise, I can strangely rest. That being said, I have no interest in noisy ‘things’. My family makes enough noise, without adding ringing clocks, music/tv background noise, etc. No thank you!
But the noise makes me appreciate the quiet, as much as the quiet makes me appreciate the noise." Click the link in my profile or copy from below to read the rest!⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://sojournerbyhisgrace.wordpress.com/2018/08/21/finding-a-balance-appreciating-the-noise-from-within-the-quiet/
Welcome to my Flamenco home studio! I’m now teaching private lessons here in dance, rhythms and singing. For the summer season I have special rates for students already taking a class with me as well as new student rates. Please inquire at email@example.com
So many great posts about starting the homeschool year this week. Yes, the early years were challenging but I remember as the kids got older their interests and abilities got even more diverse. I remember one year searching for a book on surgical techniques for large animals, while others were immersed in why the original Nancy Drew books were far superior to the newer additions, or the comparison of a two stroke dirt bike and a four stroke while the little was demanding dresses that only passed the “spin” test. In the @wildandfree.co August bundle “Wander” I wrote about “Beautiful Routines”.
Beautiful routines inspire, encourage, and feed our passions, they do not always look beautiful. They meet each member of the family exactly where they are. They give permission to be magnificent, whether you are spinning in your new dress or preparing a statement for the local librarian about which books are worthy and why. They allow mama to embrace the chaos and current interest of her children and make a way to continue to build essential skills. I am working on some free downloads to help map and track beautiful routines. Keep your vision at the center of your efforts! It will be good and take care of your needs mama. #wetravelasatribe#wildandfree#homeschool#homeschoollife#beauty#rhythms#beautifulroutines#mamagotthis#savor#siblings#family
I’m really enjoying travelling through Followers of the Way by Simon Reed. As I learn more about Celtic Christianity, I get the sense that it’s both very grounded and very spiritually connected. The book suggests that living by a Way (or Rule) of Life – a ‘simple and memorable set of guidelines to help us to get an idea of what being a disciple of Jesus looks like in our time and setting’ – helps us connect more deeply with God and connect God more completely with the whole of life. The fuller my life has become (before having kids I didn’t have many responsibilities, but now they regularly feel overwhelming) the more I’ve realised the value of life rhythms and intentions. I’m speaking on two of the ‘Waymarks’ at @ehillschurch this Sunday: heal whatever is broken, and be open to the Holy Spirit and listen. I don’t feel particularly qualified to speak about these ones! But thankfully I’m well practised at Waymark 1: be a lifelong learner. And I love being on this journey together with my church community.
Sometimes I just play, for hours. It’s a different song every time with some repeating #rhythms . Each time a little #deeper . Kinda like that #dance of life we go through..
These gifts, man, they’re meant to be explored. Maybe to be shared? Right..What do you love to do, just for you..when no ones around? Maybe you can start #sharing too. If you already are, you’re an inspiration to me.
Did a little IG Live broadcast today while working on this new percussion cue. It made me make faster decisions! I think those phrases of seven snuck in there because of a recent conversation with @studio.333
I suppose next time face the iPhone forward which should correct the reversed image here right?
You are only going to be as good as the people you surround yourself with, so don’t be afraid to let go of those who weigh you down.
By surrounding yourself with those who inspire, uplift, love and support you, you create an environment where every intention you have for yourself gets fertilized with positivity. Choose your close friends wisely.
What are your favorite rhythms to kickstart your week? One of mine is tuning in to a Monday AM Instagram live with @msrachelhollis and @mrdavehollis. They offer encouragement and motivation as you walk into the week ahead. This goes a long way when you are an entrepreneur and cheerleading party of 1! 😁
