Een GSM-blend uit Zuid-Rhône, Rasteau, Les Crapons 2017. In de neus cassis en leer, erg wrange afdronk (karafferen is aan te raden). In de mond wat kruiden en warm fruit, maar liefst 14,5% alcohol. Geen complexe wijn en mag nog wel jaartje liggen om verder te ontwikkelen. Benieuwd hoe hij morgen smaakt, er zit nog wat in de fles 🍷 #rasteau#ortas#cavederasteau#rhone

Friends coming together to experience the world through taste in an environment full of consideration and rich in knowledge all orbiting around that pour which has been carefully curated from growing the fruit to labeling the bottle. 🍇🍷🎶 Wine Notes:
This 100% Syrah from Saint Joseph in the Northern Rhône is made by one France’s leading artisanal wine makers, Lionel Faury. It is hand harvested from the vertigo-inducing terraces hillsides of Saint Joseph. It has layers of animal hide, blueberry, and smashed mountain stone. Put it next to charcuterie or take any lamb dish to the next level. If you would like to try this wine, we will be pouring it tomorrow at our free in-store tasting.
Two of my favorite #wineindustry people, #KenBrown and #DebBrown of #KenBrownWines , are gracing the #California#PinotNoir article in the October issue of #WineSpectatorMagazine - due respect for one of #SantaBarbaraCounty ‘s original iconic #winemakers who is both a #Rhone and #Pinot pioneer in SB County. When he split from his #Mondavi camp-owned namesake #Byron label (Byron Kent Brown), post Mondavi meltdown in the early 2,000’s, Ken set up shop in an office in the #Terravant complex on #Industrial Way. That was a very special era to me.
Ken’s informative and unpretentious bedside manner with clients was, and is still second to none.
Along with his 20+ years helming Byron, Ken was also founding winemaker at #ZacaMesaWinery , spawning careers of many notable, and now well established winemakers on the #CentralCoast .
On numerous occasions, after he began sporting a pure white beard, I unapologetically in a semi-reverent tone introduced him to clients as “The Pope of Pinot”, which in my mind he unquestionably is.
So much to tell about this great man than space here allows.
