Sometimes it feels like you need to the stars to align to have that perfect dinner… or maybe it’s just the reflection of the beautiful antique chandelier in this case. I’m starting to understand there’s a delicate balance between purposeful ageing and opulence when it comes to restaurant.
@Bocacincy was the only spot in Cincinnati that brought the right touch of distressed glamour to a modern restaurant. That open kitchen was a true theatre for chefs to showcase their skills on a stage.
So are we still interested in travel tips? I got lots more from my biz travel so if you’re interested in understanding how I get upgrades, efficiently pack, or others tips. Let me know! If there are more than 15 people, I’ll keep going … otherwise, I'll go back to my regular food focus after I talk about this last big tip!
Speaking of aligning stars, it feels like you need entire shining galaxies of stars to score a hotel room upgrade these days. The other tips saying you’re on honeymoon is silly and never works. Also, slipping a $20 doesn't work either. And please please please do not flirt with the front desk. It’s just cringey (witnessed one effort and I’ve seen Tinder dates go better). Be polite and grateful when you ask, and it’ll go a long way.
So what do I do to help increase my chances of an upgrade of that ocean view or a walk-in closet and the marble makeup vanity with beach views? I’ve got 5 tips that work together to get me the upgrades. Since it’s a big write up, I’m going to split into 2 captions.
To even be considered for an upgrade, you need to be part of a hotel group loyalty program. For all those who hate programs, sorry! Unless you’re known internationally by your first name, hotels are rewarding you on how much you stay. There’s the Hilton, Hyatt, and new big Marriott group (Westin, Ritz Carlton, Sheraton…). Just pick one and stick with it.
The first tip is just the 1 of the 2 basics to even get your foot into the door to be id’d as a potential upgrade. My next 3 tips give you the best opportunity to get those upgrades. If you want to check out my story, you’ll see two of my favourite upgrades. .
Looking forward to seeing the transformation of this space. Glad to see they kept the metal and glass wall we installed for the previous tenant! 👏
