It is officially #backtoschool for many #college students
While some students are returning refreshed and recharged, ready to tackle a new semester or a new environment period, there are some returning without rest, without calm, without adequate financial aid, support, or academic drive.
There is a knot in your stomach about this next step. I want to speak to the shame, fear, guilt, sadness, anxiety, unworthiness, perfectionism, & apathy
Take a very deep breath and receive these words.
I am not my anxiety.
I am not a failure.
I am not a sum of disappointments.
I am not harboring rage, resentment or envy for others.
I am not a receptacle for bad treatment by others.
I am love.
I am worthy of a new beginning.
I am worthy of good friendships.
I am worthy of discovering my purpose through my studies.
I am worthy of receiving help and support from appropriate resources.
My prayer is that you begin, again, in perfect peace, despite whatever outward challenges you might be enduring.
Last night Ernie Davis Dining hosted a “Back to the Future” dinner to welcome the RAs. The dinner featured steak burgers, bbq chicken, onion petals, and malt shop shakes. Plus, the decor REALLY transported our customers back to the future! Well done Ernie staff! #sufoodservices#reslife#welcome#syracuseuniversity
Some of you might already know this, but it was such a quick transition that a lot of you might not. Just over a week ago I left Residence Life and York University for an opportunity to work in a new position in a new office at Centennial College. I finally got my staff ID yesterday, so I guess that makes it (even more) official!
As you start the semester, please remind yourself that without being clear about what you want out of this semester, then you will be unable to achieve great results.
You have invested too much money in your college experience to let it all go to waste.
Take time to write your goals for the semester today!
Comment below what one of your personal or academic goals is for the semester.
Hey everyone! My name is Austin White and I'm your friendly, neighborhood RA in 2C. I will be starting my fourth year here at WT and plan to graduate in May with a degree in Business Entrepreneurship. My favorite part of WT would have to be our beautiful campus and how often you can see friends and acquaintances on it. I can't wait to see y'all! #GoBuffsGo#ThisRA_Rocks#RALife#WTFoundersHall#WTAMU#ResLife
This is Ryan Hudzik! He is the Third Floor RA, and the Social Media Chair of Greenwich (so he’s responsible for all of the posts you’ve been seeing recently, which makes it sort of strange that he’s writing this in the third person, but it’s ok! we love breaking the fourth wall) Ryan is a senior in Tisch studying Drama at the New Studio on Broadway (formerly the Experimental Theatre Wing) with a double major in Spanish. He also works for the Client Services Center, as well as the Broadway Comedy Club where he does musical improv. He is from a small town upstate by the name of Montgomery. His fun fact is that he was escorted by security out of one of his own dance performances this summer bc they were not told he was supposed to be “disrupting the performance” prior to joining in said dance piece. Ryan became an RA because he found his community within his fellow passionate artists he calls his peers when he came to college, and his only wish is to help foster that on his floor, as well as in the Greenwich community. This is his second year as an RA, and he can’t wait to get to know each and every one of his residence, and is looking forward to a shyconic year!
I’m not a neat person. Just ask my husband. Or the Maplewood staff. 🙈
So nights where my house is clean when I go to bed are so refreshing. It uplifts my spirit to end the day on such a good note. 💕
It’s been such a whirlwind week and a half... RA Training has begun and ended and now first year students are already here. Super excited to see what’s in store for this awesome team I get to work with this year ☺️ #reslife#RAtraining
