(Updated: 3 photos on my previous post were blank somehow)
I have 2 options of goals of how I want to photograph something: 1) how do a make a moment out of a place turn into something that's never been done before? 2) How can I make a place not look like itself in any conventional regard?
When you think of White Sands, you think of a dry but beautiful desert.
The first 2 pictures capture that goal, while the others of White Sands are pretty images of the place, but each is shown in a very different mood of light. As sunrise progresses to bright day, the colors of the monument change so radically in a span of just a few hours.
The last 2 photos are of the most brilliant and extraordinary sunset I've ever witnessed, and a morning photo of the Colorado River.
I'm back home in South Pasadena, from the @santafeworkshops. It’s feels really weird, especially since for the first time in my life I really have no long term agenda coming forward. It’s exciting, scary, and liberating. My plan over the next week or so is to start reaching out to people and companies and look for work, but perhaps an even higher priority is buying my first car. I’m driving out to Colorado for the first time in a few weeks, partly to experience somewhere I’m never been and relax, but also focus on my goals going forward and scoping the scene out as a potential place to call home.
If you know of anyone needing an extra roommate, or a company that’s hiring part time or full time, I’d love to know.
Within all the confusion and rollercoaster of emotions I’ve gone through in the past month, a few things remain certain. I love being outside, I love photography, and I’m willing to work as hard and as long as it takes to be happy and do both those activities for myself

Advice my 25 year old self would tell my 18 year old self - travel first, go figure out who you really are and what you want in your life; removed from all the social norms we grow up with in America... once you know, then go to a university and execute that dream -the world will forever be the best classroom 🌎 #stilltryingtofigureitout#itsnevertolate
I remember last week feeling stressed and second guessing my decision to go on this backpacking trip over the weekend. Will I be prepared? Am I physically up to the challenge? Fast forward 4 days: every muscle hurts, I’m bruised and scratched, but I swear to god tears are streaming down my face as we drive back into town because I want to stay out there so bad. I realized in its own way, surviving on the trail may not always be the easiest, or the most comfortable, but those 4 short days out there certainly proved to me what fulfills me most. Nothing on this planet can replace the feelings that come with pushing past my limits and receiving the gift that comes in the form of the views and adventure that can be found in places like Desolation. I feel so fortunate to have the ability and opportunity to not only be a visitor to these sacred places, but to also explore them with such incredible company. Much love to you all. Now to plan the next adventure... photo cred @_shady04_

This image was taken without my intention of putting the ray of light on the outrigger canoe. It just so happened to be that da kine sun was a big fan of the sailor. "Ho Ikaika, you cruisin! How does the Sun give one shaka? *Shines a ray* das how!"

@nasonjelson is Heading up Long’s Peak tomorrow and has hijacked our Instagram feed. Let’s talk gear: @ultimatedirectionusa Mountain Vest 4.0 is amazing. Can hold two bottles up front, hydration in the back, can strap running poles to the front, carry food for days. What can it not hold? Haven’t discovered it yet. @sundayafternoons_hats are the best shade for a long hike like this. Will be layering with @prana. @nuunhydration is in my water bottles. @ultimatedirectionusa hydrolight pants (coming soon). @lekiusa Micro Trail Vario poles to help on the steep parts. Are amazing because they are light, snap together fast, and can attached to my pack easily. @tifosioptics sweet shades. Shoes are @xeroshoes terraflex. Amazing trail shoes that are minimalist. Gives you grip and ground feel at the same time. Let’s talk food: @eatbobos @clifbar shot blocks. @theprobar bolts. @gomacro bars. @epicbar for quick protein. Plus an almond butter sandwich that isn’t made yet. What to learn more? Holler with questions.
Whether out here or in a dark theater or amongst dog-eared pages, I’ve always liked to be immersed in a new setting. Settings, by definition, are the backdrops on which our own stories unfold but I like to think of myself as a character in a much larger one, one someone started long before me and one that will end a very long time after I’m gone.
Bruselas, capital de la Unión Europea 🇪🇺 Me encanta captar sunsets sobre todo si el spot es en el mar, pero este particularmente en la cuidad me dejó atónito, de los más hermosos que he visto en mi vida.
