PART I IMPORTANCE OF STRETCHING
Stretching is an extremely important practice to add to your daily routine to be on your way to better health. Even if you are not planning on exercising vigorously, it is still important to stretch in order to receive multiple benefits for your body and your mind.
Stretching is a form of physical exercise in which a specific muscle or tendon (or muscle group) is deliberately flexed or stretched in order to improve the muscle's felt elasticity and achieve comfortable muscle tone. The result is a feeling of increased muscle control, flexibility, and range of motion.
Hence when you stretch, the muscle fiber is pulled out to its full length sarcomere by sarcomere, and then the connective tissue takes up the remaining slack. When this occurs, it helps to realign any disorganized fibers in the direction of the tension.
Because stretching allows blood to flow through your body, the nutrients in the blood are being carried and spread out all throughout your body as well. An increased blood and nutrient supply also helps reduce soreness.
Portion control is the easiest way to get on a healthy diet. By simply measuring out your food you can cut down on numerous unwanted calories and end up with an extra meal or two! I usually portion out:
1 palm sized portion of protein.
1 fist sized serving of carbs.
1 fist sized serving of vegetables.
I save the rest of what I make for my next meal! This way I don't overeat and I condition myself to eat smaller meals throughout the day!
Today me and @bozzybozzybozzy made baked eggplant w/ tomatoes and garlic with marinated spicy chicken breast! I was craving some sweet corn so we added that too in place of the carbs. I supplemented with opti greens so I could get my extra 11 servings of fruits and veggies in!
