Can't help but to #Repost this graceful demo of Rowing Front II 😍
@allisonr.pilates rowing us into the weekend! ✨ This movement focuses on scapular stability, upper back strengthening, and hamstring lengthening. 💁♀️
Love this reformer group... the premise of all of our classes at inBalance is INCLUSIVE, and this group is the definition of inclusivity 🌟 these ladies range from 18 to 78 (literally, no exaggeration!) and come from a dance background to no fitness background at all, and they all can jump on the reformer and be challenged in the same class! InBalance is for every BODY and you will find that in every class💕
Yogis who Pilates! Our gorgeous Yoga Training & Development Manager Wendy Praud deep in a mermaid stretch! Did you know when Wendy is not teaching Yoga at Kaya she is getting into Pilates? We caught up with Wendy to chat with her about WHY she incorporates Pilates into her routine! “I love the efficiency of a 45min class. Might be a short class but so much impact. I love the precision of it, the detailed cues, the articulation of the spine, the whole ranges of motion, the strength the muscles are provided with, the safe and clear instructions. Our Pilates instructors are knowledgeable as well as funny. While Yoga helps me create flexibility of body and mind, Pilates adds the final touches: it targets every single muscle.
Yoga is free flowing and you work with your own body weight. Pilates adds resistance and control with the utilisation of springs.
In fact, the body gets an even workout in Pilates. Perhaps in Yoga, we could do with a little bit more focus on gluteus and hamstrings.
I'm trying not to compare these two disciples. They are incredibly different from each other but oh-my how they wonderfully combine together!
Yoga offers mainly Stretching, Pilates offers mainly Strengthening.
If Yoga & Pilates had a baby, it would be Perfection.
I wish I could invite Pilates lovers to experience what it's like to be on the Yoga mat more often.
They need to remember that for the muscle to grow it needs room and to get that space needed, it needs to be stretched.
Meditation is a gymnastic for our mind... Pilates is a subtle work out, Yoga a subtle work in...
Pilates is a detox for the body, Yoga a detox for the mind...

Row with a twist - One of the new and super fun exercises we have added to the Pilates Emporium programs.⠀
This move is pretty special and not just your average row. The row component of this exercise engages lower traps and rhomboids, encouraging an improved shoulder blade position. The rotation mobilises the thoracic spine (most people feel stiff in this part of the back) and engages the obliques. You can also modify the spring resistance of the move as you get stronger to keep challenging yourself.
