I have a record player and a real record! Kacey musgraves is a great start to my collection. Owning a record player means I’m actually embracing my millennial. Too bad I still don’t have Venmo 😂 thanks @kelseycurtain and Paul! #millenialproblems#recordplayers
Iconic turntable: Garrard 301/401.
The suffix after Garrard really doesn’t matter because these two turntables were nearly identical. From 18th-century jewellers to manufacturers of military rangefinders in WW1 and, eventually, turntable manufacturer, Swindon-based Garrard Engineering & Manufacturing Company has some story.
Before shutting down in 1992 they were the epitome of Hi-Fi and 301/401 is a classic example of this, which is why they are still in demand. 301/401 in a decent shape will cost you close to 1000 USD on an average, which is ten to twenty times their original cost.
I remember the first time I ever watched Cheech and Chong Up In Smoke, I was 13 and hanging with friends when their parents asked us if we wanted to watch a movie and proceeded to grab it. Mind you I'm thinking VHS yes you remember those lol, it wasn't VHS but a record. And lemme tell you to this day I think records are way better than CDs and record players are so phenomenal, the sound is so rich and beautiful. You can hear every chord!
