#tbt yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to bring Pilates to the mainstage at #freshairfitness in Celebration Square. I love my City of Mississauga for this reason: we are an active community.
All of my decisions to pour my energy and focus into Pilates & to leave my past place of employment for a base with a greater scope of impact culminated in the fulfillment of one of my visions yesterday. People need Pilates in their life. Yesterday we brought Pilates to the masses. The challenge with Pilates is its accessibility. People think it has to be an expensive endeavour. Yes, it may take some investment to learn the system but change will come, like any exercise, when you practice on your own (or with a friend or 200!). #mississauga#realmendopilates#pilatesforeverybody

I have come to the conclusion that my body is not going to be able to move the way it needs to for Pilates without going back to integrated mobility work outside of the work. Some call it pre-Pilates. I would tend to agree. As an athlete, I am grateful my body is free from many of the after affects of football. No arthritis, never any broken bones, just muscle imbalances. These imbalances make many moves in the pilates repertoire my enemy. It makes for great discussion in apprentice meetings though! Glad I can contribute to the discussion.
I am rambling. Enjoy these moves I will weave into a TRX Pilates class one day.

White socks. No flair. Don’t care. Just keep getting better. Coaching points on clothing once again. I pity the clients that wear colours that accentuate the muscle imbalances. Watch my feet, not the movement for a cycle. Can I keep my feet high and still? Can I find my powerhouse from my toes to my traps? The body and the clothes tell the story more than a sexy move on the machine. #bettereveryday
This summer I had the pleasure of introducing an athlete to Pilates. Colton Norris (closest to the camera) is a place kicker for University of West Florida. I was pleasantly surprised when he contacted me and said he wanted to learn about Pilates. His focus and dedication made training him one of the highlights of my summer. In this video, Colton and another client challenge themselves with an advanced plank series.
