I had some of these #kindnesscards on my desk from the @wakeupproject.com.au, and I’ve been using them this week as part of my #doterraweekofaction activities. It’s always nice to do something kind for another when you are not looking for recognition or acknowledgement from the recipient. You don’t need a little card like these ones though, just try it out. Buy a coffee for the next person in advance. Smile at strangers. Use people’s name at the checkout. Connect!🧡💙
Saw a girl at a crowded Coffeeshop today. Could tell she was feeling insecure, anxious and intimidated. I walked up to her and asked her what lipstick she was wearing, that it looked beautiful on her and that I liked her style. She returned me with the biggest smile and told me I made her day. On her way out, she held her head up and no longer hunched her back.
I gained my confidence in my own style and demeanor thanks to the awesome people around me, which empowered me to have achieved many things I otherwise would never have even dreamed of. And I hope we all could be more generous in terms of giving compliments to each other, especially between women. It could really lighten someone up.
In case you missed it, yesterday was World Kindness Day.
I got busy and forgot to post, but I think that's ok, because I think our world could use some kindness everyday.
So here are some easy, kind things anyone can do to spread a little joy:
-Send a random "thinking of you" text. I've come to find that when I'm having a bad day, am stressing, or just have too much negative energy, checking on someone else helps take my mind off me. Otherwise, I wallow in my own negativity. And that's good for nobody. -Treat a friend or a stranger to a coffee or some free Chick-fil-A. Wherever you may be in line, offer to pick up someone else's tab. Just because. Watch them light up. -Tip your waitress or the guy or gal helping you to the car with your groceries a little extra. You never know what they may be going through and what that would mean for them. -Hold a door open with a smile and a greeting. In the south, this is pretty normal for us, but pep it up with a little extra and light up someone's day. :) -Use your talent to help someone... but with no expectation of payment. -See trash? Pick it up. That one is easy. -Write a letter to someone who has positively influenced you. Maybe it was years ago. Do it anyway. The fact that you still remember will delight them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What else? What am I missing? How do you like to spread kindness?
It doesn't cost anything to be kind to others. Being kind can make someone's day so much brighter. Your act of kindness may be the only bright spot in their day.
Give it a try...instead of rushing around and being oblivious to your surroundings, try letting someone go ahead of you in line at the store or when sitting in traffic. Hold the door for a stranger when walking into a business, office, store, etc. Pay someone a compliment (not in a creepy way...lol). Smile.
If you get in the habit of making kindness a habit you will begin to feel happier though not much else has changed except you making an effort to be kind. Be the light of positivity in someone else's darkness. If your kindness isn't received well, try not to let it get you down - it isn't about you. Smile, wish them well, and be on your way.
You never see this stuff being reported.

Do mornings excite you or make you dread the day ahead?
I didn't always feel this way, but I actually wake up really freakin' excited most days! Isn't that how life should be?? What's the point of being here if we dread where we are going + how we are spending our time?
Just a friendly reminder-- YOU GET TO CHOOSE HOW YOU SPEND YOUR LIFE! You get to choose the attitude you have going into the day!
What's helped me change my mindset on this is my morning journaling. Every. Single. Morning. I write down 3 things I'm grateful for which really puts things into perspective and starts the day on a positive note.
This morning my 3 things were-
1. Mornings waking up with Kyle + Ava.
2. Our warm, cozy home with heat.
3. Feeling the baby move inside me.
Simple. But it's all in how you look at it. What 3 things are you grateful for today?💕👇
I've just been the recipient of a lovely 'random act of kindness'! Was walking out of @waitroseandpartners after dropping the girls at school and mentioned to one of the lovely ladies working by the Welcome Desk that I wanted to try the new Mince Pie Fudge that they've released for Christmas.
She said "come with me", and tracked down where they were on the shelves, then said "have this on us, you can come back and tell us what it's like"
I know it's only a packet of fudge, but it's made my day. The lady didn't have to give it to me, but she decided to do something nice and it's little things like that, little bits of humanity, that help me on darker days.
And I can confirm, it is absolutely delicious! Thanks to Waitrose and that lovely lady for giving my day a little bit of sparkle.
See this little pile of 40 cards? Well, they are stuffed with $25 fuel/food Safeway gift cards waiting for my son and I to take to the adult and pediatric oncology patients in the Butte Fire area this Friday while we get more of his belongings from his dorm in Chico. (He was not evacuated but school has been postponed for a while). If you would like to make a donation to add to these fuel/food Safeway cards you can easily do it by Venmo or Paypal and just make a note that it is for the car fire victims and I will gladly purchase more to take with us! Thank you from the bottom of the heart of each and everyone of us at Simple Loaf Of Bread! Without you, this would never be possible! #simpleloafofbread#spreadingcheer#carfire#cancer#pediatriccancer#fuel#randomactsofkindness#raok
I saw two people arguing on SM about today being world kindness day... 🌎 ❤️ ⠀
An actual argument.... About KINDNESS....
(How does that even happen???) 🙄🙈🤦🏼♀️
I’ll admit had to start my day with some extra gratitude journaling cause my mindset was NOT in the right place as soon as my feet it the floor. My morning routine tends to turn that attitude around pretty quickly - which is the reason I try to do it every day. ⠀
Instead of complaining about driving another rainy, cold day- we can thank God we aren’t dodging fires.
Instead of complaining about a lack of sleep, having to go to work, frustration with where life is- we can be thankful for a bed/house still standing, a job to go to , and a God who is using this season so intentionally for our good. ⠀
Little shifts in our mindset/thoughts can go a long way in our days/life. We all know it. It’s nothing new! We just have to implement it. ⠀
I suggest setting a minimum baseline for your week. If you aren’t used to a certain healthy habit like gratitude journaling or exercise, start slow and small. Make a goal for this week (like getting up 10 minutes earlier or exercising 3 days this week) that you know you can feel proud of but is also attainable.
Build up from there.
It will give you confidence and allow you to have gratitude for/celebrate the small wins. (Which aren’t so small when done consistently...)
Looking forward to my workout tonight and thankful I don’t have to leave the house for it.☔️🙏🏻 (actually the truth is I’d rather be sleeping or Netflix binging but mind over matter, right??😉). ⠀
Always room for kindness and always room for gratitude. Even on the rainiest of days. ☔️ I’d love to know a secret of yours for keeping healthy perspective. 🙏🏻 ⠀
Isn’t every day World Kindness Day?! A smile. Holding a door. Being genuine. Paying for someone’s coffee. Sending happy mail. Listening. Hugging. Caring. Spread that stuff like confetti! It’s easy and it doesn’t cost a thing to simply be kind to someone. Unless of course you’re paying for their coffee but even then the kindness part is free!
