2014, somewhere in Banff. In a world full of photoshop and filters, this raw photo always makes me appreciate the staggering beauty and inspiration I find in the wild. So far, the Canadian section of the Rockies is one of my favorite places on the planet. I’ll get back there someday, but first.... counting down the days to Lisbon 🇵🇹!

I always get questions of which God/Godess is associated with rain and the sea.
In Ásatrú, Rán is a goddess associated with the sea.
According to Snorre Sturlurson's Prose Edda book Skáldskaparmál, in his retelling of the Poetic Edda poem Lokasenna, she is married to Ægir and they have nine daughters together.
Snorri also reports that she had a net in which she tried to capture men who ventured out on the sea.
Rán is the name of Ægir's wife, and their daughters are nine, even as I have have written about before.
At a feast in the skald Lokasenna, all things were self-served.
Both food and ale, and all implements needed to the feast.
At that feast, the Æsir became aware that Rán had that particular net wherein she was wont to catch all men who go upon the sea.
There is also a saying that all the men who get caught in her net and dies at sea ends up at her bed.
Her net is also mentioned in Reginsmál and in the Völsunga saga, where she lends it to Loki so that he can capture Andvari.

#ran at an average pace keeping it consistent to the watch.
Ran a little slower but overall average pace only 9 seconds per mile slower. Feel much better after this weeks nearly #10miles .
Only difference other than pace was less hydration on route and no gels!!! 🙄
