This is my favorite unicorn yet! The blue background is even better in person, my pics don’t do it justice.
Pro Tip: you should definitely squeeze in making one more unicorn while packing up 7 years of your life and preparing a cross country move 👍🏻
Ahem. Binding roll. Why didn't I come up with that sooner? I have been quilting since the 90s and it took me this long to come up with a better way to roll up and dispense my binding. #quilt#quiltersofinstagram#etsyshop
#Quilttip (or probably more accurately something that everyone else who is better at this than me already figured out ages ago): If I have a pieced back that has a strong vertical or horizontal that needs to line up with quilting lines (or just needs to actually be straight on the back or else you will forever scratch your eyeballs out looking at it), I sharpie trace the seam line onto the excess batting so that I can easily line up with seams on the top. You could of course pin, stitch or make any other type of straight line mark you want. I still get shifting when sewing, but at least this way I minimize the off-level crazy making.
The light in my apartment continues to make this top look super #fugly . In person it is less so. Trust me.
So proud of mr granddaughter Jilly who loves quilting, Narwhals, color & dragons. She pulled every piece of fabric for this quilt down to the cuddle backing. It’s quilted with yellow thread on the top and hot pink on the back with the threads locked perfectly in the middle, WHAT?!!, how is that possible? My #gammillstatlerstitcher is incredible too! @shaunielc @bicirides @mieschnipps @natenipper #gammillquilting @highlandgammill #quiltersofinstagram#quilters#quilt

Another #reclaimed /#recycled#fabric#sustainablequilt top done! #hexagons cut mostly from scraps harvested from the #nycmetromod table, grey (#chambray ? Lightweight #denim ?) fabric from a #volunteering session at @fab_scrap.
It came out at 50"x60", which was lucky because the silver/grey width of fabric was 60". It's more #negativespace than I usually do, mostly because *gasp* #quilting is actually my least favorite part of the whole process. I have a plan, kind of, so I just need to figure out a back! As always, small #dog inspected and approved.

❤🧡💛💚💙A few more #fussycut projects. I love EPP for fussy cutting, but when machine sewing the economy block is my top pick for showcasing prints. For this project ..I'm using the same center fabric, and Denyse Schmidt's Katie Jump Rope line. I do not have a fussy cut ruler, so I improvised and cut one out of cardboard, then cut out the inside, leaving a quarter inch seam allowance, for a little window I can trace out the images I want.🤗 There is also a pic of some unique prints for fussy cutting, all found on @spoonflower . Finally there is another epp project. Only the center hexies are fussy cutting. The fabric is by @mypapercrane and is literally designed for fussy cutting!😁💙💚🧡💛❤
My neighbor, @sprucedhandmade , has a much nicer camera than I do, so I roped her into taking some pictures of my recent finish. Bonus, I learned about white balance! You should go check out her jewelry! She makes some beautiful sculpted items. #quiltersofinstagram
My most recently finished quilt was this custom order from a friend for her daughter. I really love this pattern, and expect to make one for myself someday. Playing along with @amyscreativeside for #igquiltfest#quiltersofinstagram
