Hey friends, when I joined the Army, I could do zero push-ups. ZERO! On my first push-up during my first PT test, my drill sergeant yelled ONE. I did my second push-up and the drill sergeant yelled ONE. I did my 3rd push-up and the drill sergeant yelled ONE. Needless to say, I scored a 0 on my push-ups for first PT test.

This was unacceptable - to me AND the US Army 😀 so I did the following exercises 3x a week and at the end of AIT (more training), I did 60 push-ups in 2 minutes.

So, for all of you trying to increase your number of push-ups, increase your strength, and change the look of your body, here you go. - -
👉 Push-ups - do as many of these as possible with perfect form. 1 set. -

👉 Bench press, 8-12 reps, 3 sets. -
-
👉 Chest flys, 8-12 reps, 3 sets. -
-
You can do all of these exercises on the same day or different days but do them 3x per week!

Within 4-6 weeks, you will see a change in your push-ups, a change in your muscular endurance, and a change in your body. 😊. -

And don't forget to work your back. You want to stay balanced so you can avoid injury 😀 -

Push-up variations are great closed-chain scapula-free pressing variation for shoulder stability and core control. We use this pressing variation more commonly than scapula-fixed pressing variations (such as bench press) to help teach good scapula-on-ribcage movement.
•
Some common mistakes that we see with push-up variations are head/neck positioning as well as hip positioning. We tend to see a correlation between aggressive cervical extension and lumbar extension, as well as cervical flexion and lumbar flexion – both of these come from a lack of core bracing in a neutral position.

On the left, you’ll see a visual of a push-up with eyes up and hips sagging too close to the ground (extension-biased). In the middle, you’ll see a visual of head dropping toward the ground while hips remain too high (flexion-biased). And on the right, you’ll see a visual of a push-up with head and hips in a straight line (neutral-biased).

It’s important to remember that the shoulders and hips should move together in a push-up, while the neck remain neutral.

I was challenged by @karnygedj to perform 10 push-ups using plates. I figured why not push myself a little further. It was difficult but adding core training and shoulder stability work with your training will help you progress closer to your goal.

Core strength is essential to break through your plateaus. I'm not talking about the "abs". Your stabilizers, obliques, erector spinae and all your mid section needs to be trained properly to assist with your lifts. 
Keeping your shoulder healthy including the stabilizers will help mitigate unnecessary injury and improve your performance.

90 second ladder finisher....add it to the end of a circuit for 3 rounds.

Set your timer for 90 seconds, start with 1 renegade row and 1 lateral travelling burpee (the burpee at each end is counted as 1) then back to renegade rows for 2 followed by 2 lateral travelling burpees etc for the 90 seconds. 
See how many rounds you can get and try and keep that number consistent (or higher) for 3 rounds.  Don’t sacrifice form to get a larger number on your rounds.  Don’t forget to keep your feet wide in the renegade row so you’re not rotating your back when doing the rowing action and engage your core so your back doesn’t dip. You can also do the row from your knees if you feel like you can’t support yourself in that position. Have fun! 😉
