Here’s what I need to say to you. THANK YOU! You all are seriously being world changers with the power of your purchase.
Here’s what I need you to know. EVERY. PURCHASE. MATTERS. regardless of how big or small. In the first week of Hope Marketplace by @foduganda, you have purchased nearly $4k of marketplace goods!
And just so you can see the impact of your dollar, I thought I’d break it down for you.
✨$7 - Hygiene kit for boys.
✨$19 - Hygiene kit for girls - girls miss up to 20% more schooling than boys due to their monthly cycle.
✨$60 - Full year of Primary School tuition.
✨$150 - Full year of Secondary School tuition.
✨ $1200 - Full year University Tuition.
✨$360 - Technology Upgrade for an Entire School.
✨$4800 - A Changing Room for girls. Our experience and research shows that little in educational parity changes if girls don’t have access to a safe, clean place to utilize their hygiene kits.
✨$600 - Sponsor a Club Soccer Player for a year.
✨Items purchased directly from our Ugandan artisans, so the more you purchase the more we order from them.
So, from the bottom of my heart and all those working to make Hope Marketplace a true source of life-giving hope, thank you!

"Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2018. This day has been observed every year since 1993, when the United Nations General Assembly, designated this day to promote awareness of the need to eradicate poverty and destitution in all countries.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is important to recall the fundamental connection between extreme poverty and human rights, and that people living in poverty are disproportionately affected by many human rights violations.
We take this time to reflect on one of our past projects, The Garment Worker Diaries.
The Garment Worker Diaries was a yearlong research project led by Microfinance Opportunities in collaboration with Fashion Revolution and supported by C&A Foundation. We collected data on the lives of garment workers in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and India. Fashion Revolution used the findings from this project to advocate for changes in consumer and corporate behaviour and policy changes that improve the living and working conditions of garment workers everywhere. It can be stressful when you aim to be #zerowaste but receive products packed in plastics.😣 #Singleuseplastic bags and #plasticpollution has been causing great harm to the earth. There is a lot of use of plastic bags in the #fashion industry as it’s lightweight, transparent, and cheap & easy to manufacture. But we designed our packaging mindfully to move away from plastic.
We offer two options for packaging when you make a purchase.
The first is CLED’s signature circular box, ⚪️ which is made from #recycled ♻️ contents and is #reusable . If you choose to get the signature box, you will also have our tarnish resistant pouch. The second option is the #minimalist option, where jewelry will only be packed in the tarnish resistant cotton pouch, which prevents tarnishing and can be used to clean the metal surface lightly. Please let us know what option you prefer when you check out! 🤗
Our packaging is one of the steps we have taken to reduce the #plasticwaste in the world and we will continue to find more ways to do so in all aspects of design and creating.
To celebrate the arrival of our new necklace/earring duo, for TODAY ONLY we're offering 20% off our ENTIRE accessories page! Get a jump on your Christmas shopping and grab these steals before they're gone!
Came home to the best package from @lovewelcomes. This mat is made from recycled materials and provides livelihood opportunities to women refugees (which happens to be the camp I worked in). .
The past few years I’ve really reframed the way I shop and often think about the quote from Anne Lappe, “every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want”. This means I shop a lot less, but when I do I try my best to support ethical businesses .
As the holidays approach consider supporting social enterprises and #purchasewithpurpose . This love welcomes mat will be a great addition to any home!

Excuse me while I nerd out over an amazing new plant-based, sustainable fabric! The Swiss brand @qwstion_official invited me to Zurich for the launch party for their new technical fabric: Bananatex. It’s a fair trade, sustainable fiber made from a palm that is in the banana family. It’s naturally this color (no bleaching required) and is stronger, lighter, and smoother than cotton. In fact, planting this tree, which requires no pesticides or extra water, can help regenerate rainforest in the Philippines that has been destroyed by a palm oil plantation. It took them 3 years to develop it and prototype this new roll-top backpack with a zero waste design. The best part is that they’re making it available for other brands to use! Read more on the blog today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀(QWSTION paid for my travel to Zurich so I could learn more for this post.) #buylessbuybetter#zerowaste#plantbased#naturalfibers#bananatex
Here it is. The second scarf in our new collection! Read the inspiration behind this design: ‘The black and white floral scarf is hand embroidered by women in Bangladesh working together in their community, and at home with their children. Sitting together, they teach and learn from one another. The original unfinished line drawing was inspired by a quote someone once told me, “A flower bud is more beautiful than the full bloomed flower because it has hope’ - NY Designer Lily Qian. Meet Amanda. We met Amanda while she was vacationing in Bali in April this year. While passing by Love Stories @lovestoriesmarket, our cute eco-shop in Ubud, something drew her in, she said. Three days later, she and her friend Stephanie, were doing volunteer teaching at the pre-school for disadvantaged children that we support with 100% of our profit. Five months later, here she is again, doing volunteer modeling for us in the streets of NYC.💓
🌴When in Bali, visit our eco-shop @lovestoriesmarket, on Jalan Goutama, in the heart of paradise called Ubud☀️
