Sometimes it's fun to be a tourist for a day. Generally I avoid people, crowds, and tourist hotspots, but when your kids want to see something interesting, it's hard to say no. As humans on earth, we have a responsibility to think about how we affect our surroundings, and crowds of us have an occasional reputation for destroying nature. Next time you pick a spot to visit, be thoughtful about your impact, whether it's the middle of the city or the middle of nowhere.
Here, @photograzey is posing artfully, while trying to blend in with the local #vancouverites .
Happy birthday to #PlazaArtCollection artist, Alfred Jensen!🎂 This painting (Kronos, 1968) dates from a period when Jensen was interested in the seasonal movements of the planets whose patterns were incorporated in varying ways into both the temples of Greece and the pyramids of Central America. Learn more on a visit to the collection.

Now little Terry got a gun he got from the store
He bought it with the money he got from his chores
He robbed a candy shop, told her "Lay down on the floor
Put the cookies in the bag, take the pennies out the drawer"
Lil Khalil got a gun he got from the rebels
To kill the infidels and American devils
A bomb on his waist, a mask on his face
Prays five times a day and listens to heavy metal
Little Alex got a gun he took from his dad
That he snuck in the school is his black book bag
His black nail polish, black boots, and black hair
He gon' blow away the bully that just pushed his ass (Lyrics Lupe Fiasco, plate art Julie Lovelace)

didya hear about #grownupflowers by @playlabinc? 6 inflatable flowers “sitting, lounging, floating, standing tall or bending down to greet you” hint to manhattan’s pre-colonial landscape “covered w wild & beautiful flowers” & “their gargantuan size allows them to compete w the scale of their surroundings today”. I love public art 🌺🌹🌷🌸

Urban Art Porto at Vila Nova de Famalicão " Maria Moisés " artwork by the Portuguese artists Frederico Soares Campos also known as Frederico Draw @fredericodraw and Rodrigo "Alma" also known as @contra.rua near Igreja Matriz Velha on a wall of Social Security Building
This artwork was curated by Matriz Art Gallery and Vila Nova de Famalicão Town Hall .
The work of Rodrigo 'Alma' @contra.rua develops in areas such as graffiti, illustration, installation and typography. Within a fully analog process, these areas culminate in a visual miscellaneous reflecting his experiences and thoughts. His work rests on a permanent search for creativity, which is reflected in the development and evolution of his compositions. He is one of RUA Collective members .
Frederico Campos @fredericodraw is Master in Architecture by FAUP and member of RUA Collective since 2011, Frederico Draw uses spray cans as if they were pencils. He usually draws anonymous faces, portraits of random people in a large scale. His unique style is characterized by and unfinished trait that adds lyricism to the subject. He turns every surface into a wide sketching pad where charcoals are replaced by spray cans.
The theatrical effect of his countenances is coming from the extremely detailed gazes of his subjects, which are in contrast with the roughness of the face. Frederico is also the artistic director of PUTRICA (Propostas Urbanas Temporárias de Reabilitação e Intervenção Cultural e Artística), a project that uses street art to turn empty urban sites into spaces with an artistic and cultural value.

--------------------------------------------------- Part two of Megan Cope’s extraordinary site-specific artwork, Weelam Ngalut (Our Place), in development at Mal Wood Foundry. “Weelam Ngalut (Our Place) marks our presence in the land here. Talk with us, learn with us and walk with us to a place of knowledge, a place of sharing culture and a place for learning.
First we learn to speak, then we see the leaves of the trees in the path which guide us to the Weelam* and the Tarnuk* (*works in progress). The Tarnuk is a permanent water vessel for the home made from a gnarl in a big old tree, hollowed and burnt out by hand. Look closely at the Tarnuk, you can see the work of the ancestors.” - Megan Cope
Cope is a Quandamooka woman from North Stradbroke Island. This artwork is one of a series of Public Art Commissions at Monash. You can find Weelam Ngalut (Our Place) at the main entrance to Clayton campus - opposite the Monash Transport Interchange. #artmatters#designmatters
