So I've been telling myself I want to educate myself more on the subject of wine. Though I love the stuff, compared to my familiarity with whiskey, my wine knowledge is basically nil. What I DO know is that I like Sauvignon Blanc when drinking white and Malbec or Cabernet when sipping red. So I figure I will start by exploring what I know I like. I don't even really know how to talk about wine yet, so I'm just gonna ramble for now 🤷🏽♀️
First up is this Proverb Sauvignon Blanc out of California. I've had it a few times and have noted subtle differences with each pour, tho I find the back label descript of grapefruit, apricot, pineapple and lime to be QUITE accurate and consistent. A freshly-opened, chilled bottle is effervescent, bright and sweeter than most Sauvignon Blancs I can recall. Once rested, however, it mellows and loses a bit of that almost-bubbly brightness, but remains a satisfying sip to be sure. Mouthfeel is even, which I appreciate because I hate a white wine that drinks too thickly.
All in all, I'd say this one is a solid everyday white that is best enjoyed soon - if not immediately - after opening for best taste.
Pair with unfussy seafood and a mild-medium Dominican cigar. 👌🏽
“The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.”
(Proverbs 19:23) One question to ask with this verse is, “What does this verse mean by ‘harm’?” We know that there are many God-fearing people who have suffered in this life. Look at Christ, the Apostles, the disciples, the early church, missionaries, and converts within countries hostile to Christianity. Jesus told us in John 16 that we will have trouble in this life and even more so as followers of His. So, we know this verse cannot be guaranteeing a life of comfort and ease for those who fear God.
We must understand that what we consider harmful is different than our worldly understanding of harm. The NASB translates this word as “evil,” which, in my opinion, is a better word here. The evil or harm that we may experience in this life will not ultimately touch us. As Joseph told his brothers, “You meant this for evil but God meant it for good.” Romans’ 8:28 says that “for those who love God all things work together for good.” What Satan and others mean for evil God will use for our ultimate good.
Again, in that John 16:33 passage, Jesus encourages us by saying, “But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Our Savior, Our King, Our God has overcome those who mean us harm. He suffered, so we will suffer. But, He overcame, likewise, we will rise victorious on that glorious day.
Fear the Lord, rest satisfied in Him, & know we will rise as victors with Him one day soon.
Yeah...laziness isn't good! 😫😴😪 Proverbs 24:30-34 (NLT) I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense. I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down. Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson: A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber. 😱
your pessimistic tendencies are a feature—not a bug
release that pessimist and let it run wild. Find all of the things that will go wrong. After all, if you really do try to achieve this goal, the obstacles really are likely to be out there.
specific plans are crucial for succeeding at anything you try. Those specific plans should include lots of particular steps that you need to take in order to succeed. But, they also need to incorporate an understanding of all of the barriers that will prevent you from reaching your goals.
The trick, though, is not to use them as a reason not to pursue the goal. Instead, after you have given your pessimistic side its chance, bottle it up and start problem-solving. Treat those obstacles as things you can plan for.
The Wisdom Of A Fool Is Silence: 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 [Page 1 Of 4] “Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.” Proverbs 17:28. ***********************
“Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.” Proverbs 26:12. ***********************
The only person who knows everything is a fool. You cannot correct a fool; they will hate you for it, because they have their own contrived rendition of the truth. We are told in scripture that the fear of the Lord, a sober-minded reverential awe of God, is the BEGINNING of wisdom, but fools despise understanding. They hate it and are repulsed by it! ***********************
