Finally bought a boat of my own! But.. she's 40 years old and it's time for a complete refit. Everything old is out of the boat down to the fiberglass hull, and ready for new everything to go back in; New engine, fuel tanks, decks, electronics (gps/fishfinder), wiring, entire boat paint, and last but not least a new name! Can't wait to make this ole girl better than when she was brand new and with any luck she'll be a fish raiser. ➡️Swipe to see my progress on the #Hotstepper
The #projectboat is painted😎. Sunburst yellow, storm grey and midnight black to match the @SeaDek that will be #deking the interior soonly. Check out the yellow pearl in the clear! #badass#sick Also pics of the laborious floor prep that is needed when you have interior glued down #stinkycarpet ! After that, we install matching upholstery and finish up the mechanical and get ready for the raffle!!! For your chance to win this boat and contribute to a fantastic nonprofit, go to golfyeachesintegritydotcom!!! Thanks again to our generous donors of material, labor or services. #nicematters !
First duck boat is coming along nicely👌🏻we bought this 16’ Lowe from a family friend, and with a little TLC, and a fresh coat of paint, she’s almost ready for duck opener next weekend🙌🏻😍 #duckboat#projectboat
I picked up an old pair of aluminum Ford Ranger rims that I thought matched the boat perfectly. However they needed a bit of restoration.
First I had to modify them a bit by boring out the center hole a little to accept the trailer hub.
I stripped the cracked and yellowed clear coat with aircraft stripper. Then I used a die grinder with a stainless wire brush to remove any heavily oxidized spots with the aid of WD40 to prevent it from marring up the aluminum. After I hit them with a cotton wheel w/green rouge. And finally Blue Magic metal polish which aided in removing any minor swirl marks left by the buffing and gives it an even shine.
It took a little bit of elbow grease but it was worth it, especially when the guy mounting the tires thought they were brand new 😄
We were told that we might have a spot available in a yard by the end of this month so we have been trying to button up the boat. It’s been tough since we have all been working a bunch and balancing school as well. We got a little more glass done on the deck and it’s looking good.
I imagine you don't recognise this boat? It was the old yellow one......
14 weeks ago we started on a boat refurbishing journey.
My new estuary boat is brand new from head to toe. With only my husband Denis and I to do all the hard work, I'm very proud of what we have accomplished together in record time.
If you would like to read about this refurbishment I have a 3 part feature article and video on this journey in digital magazine Australian Boating Magazine issue #262 Page 90. http://www.australianboatmags.com.au/pub/index.php
Thank you for all the support everyone. Now I can go fishing!
Big thank you to my sponsors @fishwreck_apparel for the amazing wrap @pelagicgearaustralia 👙 @lowrancefishing 🎣 @oakleyaus_nz 😎
Last winter I bought another privateer knowing it was going to be a project. I didn’t know how big of a project it was going to be. Now that Fishing has slowed for us I’ve been able to make some progress on it. When I bought it the floor was “redone” but as you can see they did a bad job on it. Right now it’s stripped down and almost to the point of putting it back together. I’ll keep posting pics as we move along. Plan is to redo in all cuso board and repower with a 115 etec. #privateerboats#evinrude#projectboat
Finally first day off in 5 weeks so decided to finish the boat off!
Last bits are in and finishing touches done!
She is now ready to be blooded!

Beauty shots of the 1991 Barefoot Nautique. Thanks to Jon @indymarineautobody who knocked the black @awlgripfinishes paint out of the park!! Couple it with @ridesofindy ceramic coating the boat may survive my abuse. More pics of the @pcmengines ZR450 and interior once we have a few more items finished. #nautique#correctcraft#wolfpack#woof1#projectboat#barefootnautique
Stripped to the bulkheads!!! #boatreno
Even slow progress is progress when working on a #projectboat in you spare time 🙄⛵🚧
Still not much to look at, but it takes a while to build a foundation! 😉 Back in the water soon.... Maybe 🤔
Today was the first sense of progress since last year, and there's still lots to do.
