Yesterday I made it to my mat for the first time in six days since our family emergency. My body was craving proper movement, streghthing, stretching and mobilizing.
I treated myself to four shreds joined by my little guy (50 pound almost three year old who kept jumping on me 😜😂🤣) followed by some core focused yoga and breathing.
Not only did I feel like myself again but I suddenly had the energy to take on everything that I needed to do (extra shopping, cooking, and all the household chores I fell behind on, not to mention all of my work I put aside)
This practice was also very much a giant physical release. The HIIT portion allowed me a safe haven to explore my feelings and an even better outlit to release these emotions and feelings.
The yoga portion provided me space for some self love and nourishing practices.
I am so thankful I have this practice and the discipline to find my mat after missing a week but after talking to my family and friends I realized that many people don't.
They need someone to hold them accountable, challenge them physically, emotionally and mentally. They need someone to ask them how they are doing and create a practice that actually addresses THEIR own individual body.

Pilates improves core stability, yes, it can definitely help reduce back problems. Also, by working on your glutes, we can help prevent some hip problems as well.

Pilates might not be the centrepiece of your training schedule, but it is certainly worth considering, particularly if you suffer from back problems.

When an instructor sees a client letting their core hang out, the instructor places her hands on the rib cage of the client and is trying to “knit knit knit” her fingers towards one another creating a corset sensation on the client while cueing the client to pull their core up and under the rib cage and “knit knit knit” the ribs creating a strong core.
