Got up early this morning to get some yoga in. When I say early, I mean earlier than the kids would get up, but still later than a week day. 
Well apparently the kids had other thoughts and wanted to wake up also. So I gave them the option to watch momma do yoga or go lay back in bed. 
They decided to watch momma do some yoga, which followed by some interesting dialogue. 💠 “Why are you breathing so loud?!”
💠 “They said the other leg.”
💠 “How come you’re not doing it like them on tv?” I love being able to set an example them. They understand that it’s important to be healthy and fit.

I have always been some what of an introvert, and I could say I was usually comfortable with that throughout my youth and young adulthood. 
I often didn’t open up or share my true self with the few close friends that I did I have. 
After having kids, it has become heart-breaking to hear how difficult it is for them to make friends, and how they feel left out, and lonely. 
When I saw there was an event at my school I knew we had to go. I was grateful for the opportunity to attend the Gopher Hockey: Countdown to Puck Drop. We got some treats and goodies, and an opportunity to skate at the 3M Arena at Mariucci. 
It is hard taking little steps to get out of my comfort zone. It is difficult to be awkward and unlike your peers. It is unsettling knowing your children are in pain. 
As long as I am comfortable I am not growing, or strengthening, or becoming better.

You’re running around trying to succeed at work, care for your family, be a loving wife, keep up with your social circle, and take care of yourself and your health. 
That’s a long list of things to get done everyday. 
Here’s the truth- you can absolutely do all of those things! 
Here’s another truth - you don’t have to do all of them every single day. And in fact, to be successful, you probably have to make sure you aren’t doing all of them every single day. 
Give yourself permission to triage and prioritize what’s happening in your life. If you want to do it all and had it all, you have to have focus and you have to learn what real balance feels like. 
You can do that! 
Look at your list of “to-dos” for today. What HAS to get done? What can WAIT until tomorrow? 
My clients and I spend as much time figuring out what we can cut out of the equation to help them be successful as we do figuring out what to add in. 
This helps us prioritize and simplify the day and gives us a winner in the end.

Take chances... Every day we choose to step out of our comfort zone, or remain comfortable. I’m becoming comfortable being uncomfortable. I embrace the awkward interactions with classmates who are over over a decade younger than I am. 
Yesterday in class we shared articles based upon our specific sport interest and the injuries that are prevalent. So I discussed the rate and occurrence of #concussions in #hockey. While my passion for the profession and the specific injury oozed from every pore in my being. 
Later when given a chance to speak about recent sport happenings I attempted to engage with my peers, asking if they were undergrad or graduate students. After explaining that I attained my undergraduate degree over a decade ago, my peers seemed surprised.

Walking amongst young adults daily is uncomfortable.

I lean into being uncomfortable. I know that this conscious effort provides me the opportunity to grow.

What these two exercises have in common?
The answer is inner thighs😊

The inner thigh muscles, or adductors, are made up of five different muscles that are responsible for stabilizing the outward rotation of your knee, helping pull the legs toward the center line of your body.These muscles all attach to the pelvis and play a key role in hip flexion and extension. They're also incredibly important in stabilizing your core. Together, these five muscles function to provide stability and injury prevention for your knees, hips, and low back (to name a few). 1- HIGH SIDE PLANK ADDUCTORS PULL.
2- ELEVATED DYNAMIC INNER THIGH STRETCH. 
They go together like peanut butter and jelly😁😁😁💪💪💪
If you are an advanced practitioner give it a try. 
Prerequisites:
- high side plank on the floor
- high side plank elevated no leg movement ( isometric hold)
- good inner thighs and shoulder mobility( otherwise try a smaller box and do it without the stick behind the shoulders).

Sometimes you choose recovery, sometimes your body chooses for you lol. Had a pretty hard crash over the weekend lots of inflammation and aggravated an old injury in my right lat/trap. Normally I’d push through, but sometimes it’s good to listen to your body and throttle back and let your body heal.

With our group’s retreat this weekend I’ve decided to take this week to recover and heal up. Still doing my 30 minutes of cardio just taking off from the weights. So lots of stretching, foam rolling, sauna sessions and cold therapy. Remember good recovery equals good performance!

I share because I want you to know that anyone can do this. Anyone can find 30 minutes in their day to prioritize their health. I am a busy wife, mom, nurse and am building a business. Between work, chores, working on my old house and being with my kids there's always something to do. You can do it, no matter what your current fitness level is. I've had a baby, I'm not getting any younger and I'm not a professional..just me, wanting to be my best so that I can keep being there for others. You can do this.

“I don’t have time to ________” Fill in the blank: Eat healthy, exercise, self care, have fun, spend quality time with a loved one or friend, read, learn something new, etc... Bullshit. You have time. Time exists and you are free to use it however you like. If you don’t feel you have time to eat right and exercise, stop fucking lying about the reason. It’s not because you don’t have time, it’s because you don’t prioritize it. If your health were a PRIORITY, by definition it would become more important than other things and you would MAKE time. 
Your time is filled with the things you prioritize and for most of us that is making money. If you’re a parent I’m sure that is especially motivating because feeding your kids is most important of all. Look, I can’t tell you that your priorities are less worthy than the ones I would suggest (like diet, exercise and meditation), but it’s very important to remember that you make a choice every single moment to spend your time in a certain way. You could always drop everything and go for a hike, but there may be consequences for that which you don’t think are worth it. Figure out what you are willing to sacrifice in order to fit a new healthy habit in. Do you watch TV? Fuck, do it while you lift some weights. Or better yet throw it out and start running while listening to podcasts. How much time do you waste on social media? Would you sacrifice all of that time to become happier and healthier? You have to CHANGE your behavior if you want to CHANGE your life. 
HOWEVER, you can’t do EVERYTHING. Make a list of the things you wish you could do “if you had time”. Just pick ONE thing. Just one at first. You CAN DO ONE THING. You can’t do all the things. Pick one, even one change can transform your life.

It’s a good thing we live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest donut shop is 25ish minutes away because this Mama loves donuts and has had a mad craving for them this week 🍩

Working on some exciting changes for my business and striving to create intentional daily habits that will help me be a better mom, wife and coach.

I am so thankful for those three roles in my life and I want to fulfill them with intention, passion and presence so that I can show up and be the best me for my family, my friends and my girls on my team and in my health + fitness community 💜

For me I am in the process of decluttering, creating a workspace I love, my morning routine is everything (and currently being adjusted since school has started again) and unplugging during specific times of day to focus on the things that truly matter to me.

It’s a work in progress but I love learning and tweaking along the way.

I was listening to Lewis Howes this morning talking about personal and professional growth and going after your dreams. He ended his thoughts by saying the number one most important thing you can do in pursuit of your goals is to prioritize your health. Because when you prioritize your health and you take care of yourself you’ll be the best version of you that you can be regardless of your goals or dreams....because without your health, nothing else matters. Plus if you succeed at nothing else that day (because success is made of failures) then at least you’ve taken care of yourself.

I love this thought because it’s why I do what I do in my life but also a coach. Not because I want myself or others to be super skinny (because I don’t) but because when you feel good you’re more likely to pursue your goals and dreams, you’re more energized and motivated and you’re the best version of you you can be.
.
So whether your dream is to be an exceptional mom and wife or to start a non-profit organization or to become a blogger or earn a 6 figure income or to be a teacher, whatever your goal and dream is, prioritize your health so that you can the BEST you you can be.
.
Lewis ended by stating that at the end of his life Steve Jobs commented that he would give up all his money and success if he could have another year of health. All the other stuff is exciting and important and I deeply believe in the importance of pursuing the desires and passions God has given us but I also think it’s vitally important to care for and prioritize the only body we’ve been given. And I was thankful for that reminder this morning.

As I lay on the floor for a few minutes after my first workout in almost 2 weeks, I am thankful for my health and the opportunity to encourage and support others as they pursue healthier stronger lives so they too can work on their goals feeling their best! But also thankful that I can lay on the floor without the room “spinning” around me 😆

Oh my... that certainly resonates humbly with me currently. I think as humans we aspire to always; be more, conquer more, produce more, attain more. 
These are all exceedingly amazing goals to strive for, but what about in the mean time? 🤷‍♀️ These aspirations don’t just appear before us. We have to put in the work and the effort. 
There are many facets of my life I am currently dedicated to making better, but they won’t happen over night. 🌚 They take time ⏰, determination, strength 💪, and positivity. The journey and process is what makes everything worth it in the end. 
But I won’t neglect what I have now. I have what I need for the circumstances I am currently on the path 👣 of. 
And having someone along the way to motivate and support is an amazing accessory. In addition to my husband 👨‍👧‍👦and kids, I am a part of an amazing group of females 👭 who raise me up and push me to dig harder; which I am whole heartedly grateful for them in every way.

Y’all, there is so much more of a difference in these pictures than loosing X amount of pounds. For the longest time I thought it was about seeing a certain number on the scale, and anytime I slipped up in my nutrition I just gave up and fell back into old patterns. But it’s so much more than that!! I have a newfound confidence in myself because I’m taking care of my body & honoring what God has given me. I no longer beat myself up over eating a bag of French fries or skipping a workout from time to time because I know that one bad day doesn’t remove all the hard work I’ve put in. The only thing standing in between you & your goals is YOU. • • The girl on the left... ❌ Complained about being too busy for exercise while watching Netflix and eating a pint of ice cream. ❌ Thought it was impossible to find healthy food options that were both convenient and in the budget. ❌ Lacked self-confidence and was ashamed of the direction her health was heading. • • The girl on the right... ✨ Knows what she’s capable of & takes herself to the next level. ✨ Plans ahead in order to eat nutritiously, all while staying in the budget & bringing as much convenience possible. ✨ Makes time for her workouts because she knows her health MATTERS! • • Y’all, there is so much more of a difference in these pictures than loosing X amount of pounds. For the longest time I thought it was about seeing a certain number on the scale, and anytime I slipped up in my nutrition I just gave up and fell back into old patterns. Since I was younger I have always found it particularly challenging to speak 🗣 in public. Something I learned in the military is that the more competent and knowledgeable of a subject I am, the easier it became to speak about it.

I would frequently brief personnel about the services that were offered by the clinic I worked in. 
Some of these topics I would discuss were very serious and dry (responsible drinking 🥂, parenting prevention services, knowing important symptoms to watch out for in your wingmen, and cognitive 🧠 testing before deployments). I would still try to make it light and personable. 
I definitely would make corny jokes to break the uncomfortable sensation, and hardly ever did I get responses. 🤷‍♀️ Through life lessons and the personal development I’m reading; Daring Greatly by Brene Brown, it has inspired me to make leaps and bounds in all aspects of my life. 
I will never know how incredible I can be, or how many people I can inspire if I’m uncomfortable about getting uncomfortable.

New things can be scary. 😱 I have successfully completed my first week attending graduate school at the University of Minnesota. 
With the anticipation of something exciting yet pensive I was admittedly nervous. Who goes back to school in their 30’s? Will this be the career path 👣 I want to pursue? Will i fail? 
These were all thoughts that had come to mind at some point throughout the leading weeks. 
The first three days driving to or from campus I took an incorrect exit or turn. Some not as costly as others, and definitely not smooth sailing. ⭕️ Did I panic?
⭕️ Did I cry? ⭕️ Did I act erratically and cause further confusion and stress? 💯% No❗️ I overcame my obstacles and kicked  them out of my way. While the journey seemed daunting, I gave full effort and failed to deliver immaculate results. 
Am I upset? 😤 Not in the least bit. I tried, I discovered an opportunity to better myself, and succeed flawlessly after practice. 
This can correlate with other elements of our lives. If we never take the first step, we’ll never learn. Are you struggling with that first step? I am here to stand by your side, and help deliver positivity and confidence. Are you ready?
