So, Honeygrow—are you going to share the recipe for your magical sriracha-tahini dressing? If not I’m going to have to reverse-engineer it—it’s too gooooood! 😋

I've been trying to better balance my life and make sure I make myself a priority when I need it most. Lots of books, rest as needed, and candles from @tjmaxx! 😄

Most importantly, even though I've been paleo for over two years, I've put a deeper focus on adding more varieties of healthy foods to my diet again (basically strolling through every fresh or frozen food aisle at @sprouts). What a difference it makes! The more I have insisted on these changes, the better I have felt.

I am 17 days in to my Carnivore Diet, and I’m not going to lie, it is way harder than I thought that it would be. I’ve lost a few pounds, which is nice, though that wasn’t my goal. I have also already discovered 2 food intolerances which makes me sad, as I’ve reacted to both eggs and goat’s dairy and had to eliminate them.

The good thing is, that these are just intolerances, and there is a very good chance that someday, after I’ve gone through this whole healing process, that I might be able to reintroduce them. But, in the meantime, I’ll stick with just meat.

I feel great eating this way by the way, much better than I’ve felt in a long time. It’s not really a long term solution for me, as there are many foods that I’m missing (ahem…..mushrooms and tomatoes) but it’s only 30 days, and then after that, I’m going to start reintroducing foods starting with my favorites.

I’m scheduled for an updated Endoscopy in September, 5 months after my last one, 4 months after my GI doctor insisted that I get on meds and I refused. Here’s to hoping that I’ve done enough work to actually see some improvement!!

Keto Honey Mustard Chicken

INGREDIENTS
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup @primalkitchenfoods honey mustard dressing
2 tablespoons olive oil

DIRECTIONS
•Combine the chicken and 1/2 cup of the honey mustard dressing in a bowl and toss the chicken, coating it in the dressing. Let marinate in the refrigerator for one hour, or up to 24 hours.
•Preheat the oven to 350°F.
•Heat the olive oil in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the chicken, and pan-sear, browning on both sides. About 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
•Pour the remaining honey mustard dressing over the chicken. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked all the way through.

Principalmente no tratamento do diabetes, resistência a insulina, obesidade, esteatose hepática, hipertensão... E que #lowcarb não é #nocarb como muitos (erradamente) pensam e até aplicam. Daí a resistência de alguns colegas em aceitar essa nomenclatura, pois não há uma definição exata do quanto comer de carbo para estar em low carb. Alguns falam de qualquer coisa abaixo de 100-150g de carbo/dia já ser uma dieta low carb, principalmente diante da composição da dieta ocidental padrão (riquíssima em carboidratos), e onde muitas pessoas já conseguem excelentes resultados nessa faixa desde que comam #comidadeverdade. E ainda tem mais, diferente do que muitos pensam, sair restringindo ou reduzindo carboidratos, muitas vezes não é o suficiente para obter os resultados tão esperados, pois tratamos de indivíduos únicos, e precisamos considerar vários fatores que fará com que cheguemos no destino desejado. Sabiam que tem um grupo de pessoas que não reagem a carboidratos muito baixos? Em contrapartida tem aqueles que só responderam bem se o carbo for bem baixinho, necessitando inicialmente chegar às vezes à cetose. A tal da INDIVIDUALIDADE, sabe! E não tem como saber de cara, só após avaliação e acompanhamento nutricional, pois talvez  seu corpo não responda bem a estratégia traçada e só acompanhando é que podemos identificar. E lembrem-se sempre... Pra se obter sucesso em qualquer abordagem nutricional (inclusive na #lowcarb) é preciso considerar inúmeras variáveis e é nessa hora que o papel do nutricionista alcança extrema importância, pois nossa função é encontrar meios que façam com que o caminho seja trilhado de forma eficiente e com segurança e responsabilidade. Não erre, procure um nutricionista!

For now, a bit about me: I am a 41 year old Canadian who lives in the South and I often feel a bit weird and out-of-sync with my surroundings. I am used to this because I am to the point where totaled up, I have lived more years outside Canada 🇨🇦 than in Canada...be it in the Middle East, 🇸🇦 🇦🇪, South East Asia 🇹🇭 , The Caribbean 🇰🇾 , or on yachts ⛵️wherever they happened to be at any given moment 🇫🇷 🇪🇸 🇮🇹, and now the USA 🇺🇸.

What being an expat does is make you hyper aware of cultural differences and the older I get, as much as I try to generally fit in, I also embrace and don’t apologize for my strangeness because...well...that’s just me 💁🏻‍♀️ You either like me, or you don’t.

Savannah is such a melting pot for a smallish city that I am definitely not alone in this and there are some really cool people here and I meet new ones All The Time!! .

In this lust for travel and living abroad I will admit to 2 deep desires: 1) I want us to move to New Zealand so @fergusson.tony can actually live in his homeland for a while. This is going to happen. For me, it is a non-negotiable. We have a house there...seems lame that we have never lived in it.
2) I will live in Paris for a few months at some point. I don’t know when, but I will. .

In the meantime, I am hoping to get back to Canada for Thanksgiving in October since I haven’t been home in over a year...and next year NZ is on the cards because we haven’t been there in almost 5!

(I like these because most nuts are roasted in bad oils such as sunflower, canola or safflower which I avoid everywhere possible!!!) Raw and sprouted nuts would be a super healthy choice too!!! I was just craving some yummy, roasted, crunchy nuts, and these were perfect on the chia pudding💯🙌💯🙌💯🙌!!!.

Here’s a tip....I LOVE nuts and nut butter!! BUT, I can get carried away with the nut butter sometimes!  If you find your weight creeping up a bit, AND YOU ARE ALREADY EATING SUPER CLEAN, try cutting out nut butters nut for a week or so and have whole nuts instead!! The nut butter may be the source!!🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Just give it a try if this applies to you, because any whole food will be a better, more satiating food than its concentrated or ground counterpart!!! ..

Love this pic that my client Frances put up last night. I know it probably took quite a lot to do. Same way it took a lot for her to come to her first training session. .

For the past year she's been training with me twice a week, and it's great watching the changes, physically and mentally. As the weight goes down, the confidence increases. She has also increased her activity level in day to day life as well. .

It's not plain sailing though, and probably never will be. 5 kids, full time job, and studying for 2 Masters will make sure of that. Add in lots of swearing, a fair few melt downs, going off the initial eating plan, in favour of lose weight quicker schemes, holidays, Easter eggs, and the fact that she had never trained before, the road was always be twisty, bumpy, and full of potholes. Even still, the weight loss has been consistent, and even more importantly.... sustainable! It's taken a year just to iron out the kinks and start to make the road smoother. Don't get disheartened if things don't happen when your paid celeb tells you it will.

When people come to train with me, it's my job to get them as fit as I can, as healthy as I can, educate them as much as I can, and help them to maintain it for as long as possible. Training isn't about a 30day burn, 4week shred, 12 week challenge. When you train, it should be for as long as you are able to do it. Taking on healthier principles to improve your life. I could throw away my ethics and principles and fire people on all sorts of lose weight quick stuff (only to rebound) and make some cash, get some extra likes, but does that help the people who come to me....does it fuck!

Deets: 1️⃣coconut cream, berries and @salbachia chocolate chia seeds. 2️⃣ homemade hummus, avocado, hemp seeds and dill 3️⃣ tomato, arugula and a fried @vitalfarms egg. 4️⃣ banana, @spreadthelove almond butter, @nanajoesgranola, @knowfoods chocolate chips and raspberries. Waffles: Blend together 1/2 large ripe plantain, 3 tablespoons coconut flour, 1 tablespoon flax meal, 1 egg and 2 whites. (or if using very large eggs then one egg and one white)

Tonight i plan on having wings and salad with ranch- it’s 🏈 night! I also am doing a mini mealprep session because I will be spending the weekend with my relative(possibly the last time, they are recuperating well!) and then on weds I will be traveling for a conference through the weekend. Busy week!

The Keto diet has risen to fame with some valid merits however there are some common flaws & misconceptions. 
In fact, I sort of follow a cyclic Keto approach if you want to label it. However, I just call it my lifestyle. This includes certain meals which are more fat focussed at specific times and based around my activity & energy demands such as glycogen uptake or stress or digestion.

What you'll notice here its all about the details. They are both keto. However, the right side is far superior in nutrients + less inflammatory + more fibre + satisfying and mouthwatering.
Living off processed animal meat + poor fat profile & coffee (also an anti-nutrient) with a stick of butter & coconut oil is a waste of calories in my opinion.
However, I do my own version of a bulletproof coffee which is by no way a 500 calorie drink. I consume it away from food and contains a tsp of MCT oil & some medicinal mushrooms usually before I train and certainly, I do not think it's a magically or fat loss aid 🤣

There are some great people out there who are educated and understand the value of a ketogenic approach, just like me :-) such as @drwillcole + @maxlugavere yet do not make it  diet or cult as such. They just incorporate some aspects of keto in their lifestyle and still reap the rewards. 🥑❤️.

I don’t care if it’s hot out. Today was a day for craving ramen. And the only down side to regular ramen is that it’s really, really high in sodium..like you can pretty much get your allotment of sodium from regular prepackaged ramen including the single cups. So avoid that by reading labels and keeping up to date with new products on the market. Shout out to the new #ramensoupcup by @lotusfoods, which provides such an option! 🙌🏽 Significantly lower in sodium, gluten free and super tasty and satisfying. 🍜 There is a good chance that the last two soup cups I have don’t make it past tomorrow. 😅

I tried the Tom Yum cup ramen, and it definitely impressed me with its flavor. 👏🏽 I topped it with carrot shreds, broccoli shreds, bell pepper, peas, avocado and basil. 🌱Dressing up your soup is a must in my books, but enjoy as is if you’d like. Totally worth the effort in my opinion (tho that effort really only took 3 minutes in the microwave). 💚
