Thank you to Michael Livingston, Executive Director at The Men’s Project and The Jesuits’ Society for hosting us this morning at the release of their study on “The Man Box”. There are stereotypes we have created as a society as what it means to “be a man”. Unfortunately, the young men who fall in that stereotype suffer a range of challenges; prominently mental health challenges. Jack was invited to speak on a panel regarding the findings, and how we can break the box walls 👊🏼
Minimizing our chances of developing chronic disease is an essential part of maintaining a high quality of life in the long run. .
In order to accomplish this, we must be aware of some of the factors that can increase our chances. For example, Did you know that “musculoskeletal conditions” have been found to increase the risk of chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease, cancer,
diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases?
A study into the most common musculoskeletal conditions including neck or back pain and osteoarthritis of the knee or hip found that providing care to individuals with these long-standing conditions can help lower their risk of
developing chronic disease. .
By utilizing proactive health care like chiropractic, we can not only help our function today but ensure our best quality of life tomorrow!
So very thankful for a successful first You Matter event in every way!
Thank you to everyone that helped to make it all happen, who joined us from near & far and supported this very personal cause.
I've tried several times to write something that would thank everyone individually but couldn't get it under the allotted space allowed. So, I pray you know who you are.
A special Thank You to Anna Maria Whetstine (who is obviously so much more versed in public speaking than me : )) and 22 Jefferson Art Studios and Gallery for opening your space for the community to join together to raise funds and support suicide awareness and prevention.
Thank you to our particpating artists, sponsors and donors. Thank you to the vendors, musicians, entertainers and cooks who devoted a portion of their day to reach out, educate, feed and/or entertain the community.
Thank you to all my friends who took time to help us prepare, setup, encourage me and most of all for never letting me give up when I doubted.
Thankful for new friends too!
For those not able to attend this year, I hope you'll join us next year!
From the depths of my heart and soul...THANK YOU ALL!! I truly love each and every one of YOU and couldn't have done it without you!
I pray the YOU MATTER message is remembered and passed on for years to come!💛🌻🙏🏻

A Texas girl living in the Colorado cold❄
A contradiction in itself.
Hi yall🙋♀️⬇️ #nicetomeetya#mystory
I'm thankful to have this space to be a version of myself I never have felt comfortable to be before - 💯percent the most real me I can possibly be 😃 Mental health issues, emotions, positive vibes and all!
Just typing out these words I feel a sense of relief. A break from the roller coaster of illness, set backs, emotions and mood swings.🌈
I'm not just here for myself.
I'm here to learn your story too and in sharing we can create a little ray of sunlight in a cloudy world. ⛅
THANK YOU to all the amazing climbers who bundled up, braved the cold and made the commitment to #StepInFront of cancer tonight under the stadium lights at @timhortonsfield! Thank you, thank you, thank you! See you (and sunny skies) in May for the 2019 Climb for Cancer 💪💛
👆🏻That’s me telling y’all about #prevention and safer cleaning products. Listen to my live story to hear all about it.
My video pauses at one point where I was saying that the labels “organic” or “natural” have some regulation in the food industry, but *not* in the personal care industry. Please take a listen. #switchtosafer#progressnotperfection#pinkwashing
Flu Season Awareness
With the start of the flu season, it is important to know the ways that you can prevent being infected by the flu. Here are some ways to do so: • Get a flu vaccination • Wash your hands regularly • Try to limit close contact with those who are sick • Avoid touching your mouth and eyes to prevent infection • Take flu antiviral medication
I’ve been hearing people cough and sneeze all around me lately. Have you at the office, grocery stores or in your travels ✈️ ? That is a big NO THANK YOU! I take Berry Blend capsules for immune support to help prevent the flu and colds.
However, Juice Plus now offers a child portion of Berry gummies for only $17/month. So you can help prevent your kids from bringing home any sickness from school or daycare!
The Berry Blend contains elderberries, which support a healthy immune system and protect us from things like the flu and colds. Elderberries are also so good for heart health and reducing inflammation, but so is the ENTIRE dark berry family!
Juice Plus Berry Blend gummies have the whole Elderberry (not just the extract) along with... 🍇raspberry
🍇blackberry, cocoa and artichoke
That's a powerhouse of deep purple berries!
Also, if you want them to have 30 fruits, veggies AND berries every single day (like I do) you can order all three gummy blends for $1.38/day! 🙌🏻 Prevention is so much better than treatment, trust me! If this sounds like something that might fit well into your daily routine, let me know and I’ll send the info your way! ❤️#elderberrysyrup#elderberry#raspberry#bilberry#blueberry#pomegranate#concordgrapes#blackcurrant#blackberry#cocoa#artichoke#juiceplus#cold#flu#prevention#healthy#coldandfluseason#inflammation#fruits#veggies
This is life and we must adapt, move forward and keeping pushing forward. This year has taught me the true meaning of being speechless. I have had two moments where I was utterly speechless, no lack of words could come together in my head and form sentences. My emotions destroy each possible attempt and emotions surged back and forth like a violent wave of devastation. When we least expect it, these moments seem to hit. Today mine was in an elevator full of strangers. I got a phone call from a Maryland phone number. It was a call that I immediately upon answering and hearing who it was, knew, it was not going to be good. My friend Amy is dead. She passed away in June from an overdose of heroin laced with fentanyl. Her parents were able to finally unlock her phone and notify friends. I had not heard from her in a year and it was due to her phone being shut off. She was on my mind recently and I was hoping to figure out what was going on why, I did not hear from her. Today I got that answer. Her life was taken too soon. She was good at hiding and pretending everything was okay. But these are the bad things. The things I choose to remember are her bright contagious smile, her love of songs I would make fun of her for liking like Lady Gaga, her constant need to wear black and gold like every day, the love she had for her family and her kitties, her excitement about being an aunt and her seriously good heart. She wanted to see California, put her toes in the west coast sand. We did the dumbest stuff ever, worked stupid jobs just to go shop at the mall, ate gelato until we puked, had dance parties in the car, drove to the ocean just to jump in and then turn right back around. I will always miss you Amy, you were a gentle person and I am going to miss you forever and always. 🖤💔#heartofgold#drugawareness#addictionkills#prevention#drugsafety#loveyougirl
Girls, how well do you know your girls?
The Canadian Cancer Society recommends that women be familiar with their breasts & know how they look & feel.
40% of the diagnosed breast cancers are first discovered by women themselves because they know their body!
This tells me that it can’t hurt to know your breasts, & this is how:
💗Check them! The best time to examine is the same time every month, 1 week after your period starts (this is when the breasts will be less tender & swollen)
💗Use the pads of your three middle fingers
💗Check from your collar bone all the way to the bottom of the breast line, & armpit to sternum.
💗Take your time & move your fingers in small coin-sized circles.
💗Use different pressures (light & firm)
💗Follow one the the three patterns (pictured) to get the entire breast covered.
💗Do not replace self exams by yearly exams from your doctor
💗Not all lumps are cancerous (many women just have denser, more fibrous breasts that are totally normal)
When to see your doctor:
🖤any new lump appears (painful or not & you are uneasy / unsure about it)
🖤you find unusually thick areas in your breast
🖤you have nipple discharge (& you aren’t breastfeeding)
🖤the skin of your breast changes (puckering, dimpling, discolouration)
🖤you notice an increase in size of one breast or one is unusually lower than normal
My recommendation is to see your doctor (MD or ND) yearly for a full physical & breast exam, & routinely get a PAP to keep on top of your female health! Prevention is key!
For all things women’s health related, connect with me. I am accepting new patients in #yyc . 💕
Did you know? After #Ultraformer , it can take 6-12 months to see the full benefits of your treatment. The new collagen produced will be stronger, and its structure more ‘youthful’ than previously. This in turn makes your skin stronger and better supported, helping to reverse the effects of ageing on your skin. We think the wait is well worth it.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential cornerstones of human nutrition. They are deemed "essential" because we need them for proper health-much like certain vitamins and minerals but cannot produce them on our own. We must therefore consume these fats through diet or supplementation. Since omega-3 fatty acids are known to benefit cardiovascular health, support healthy brain function and cognition, and have also been proven to maintain a healthy inflammatory response, achieving the proper balance of omega-3s has become an important health strategy. Check out our exclusive Omega 3s supplement; link is in the profile.
For those of you who have been following the discussion I had with a physician (on Facebook, unfortunately 🤦🏻♀️), you’ll know that I am extremely passionate about changing the healthcare system.
Something that came up for this physician was that my rates in a cash-based practice are too high, so cash-based medicine doesn’t work, and that I couldn’t charge a “simple” case the same as a “complex” case because of the time it takes to treat each and the cost of additional tests, etc.
My question back to her was, “Do you value yourself based on the amount of time you spend with your patients, or on the value/change/transformation you can provide for them?”
In the comments following it became very clear that she valued herself based on how much she could bill insurance for her time and expertise.
One thing we did agree on was that patients have to take ownership of their health to get better. As a patient or a client, I would rather work with someone who gives me support and helps me work on my mindset about my condition, over someone who wants to charge as much as they can for spouting information at me, running a zillion tests, and maybe giving me medicine. How about you?
Official flu season is about to begin and one way to prevent getting a cold or more serious infections is to follow the five simple rules: 1.Wet you hands with soap and water 2. Rub vigorously for 20 seconds (including in between fingers and under fingernails) 3. Rinse your hands thoroughly 4. Dry with a clean paper towel of air dryer 5. If you are in a public restroom, shut off the faucet with a paper towel and push the door with your shoulder or use another paper towel to turn the knob. Happy Global Handwashing Day!
One of the best methods we have of preventing wildfires is good fuels management. Carefully planned low intensity burns when conditions are not dangerous (typically spring and fall) remove ground fuels and lower the fire risk of an area. As the threat of wildfires continues to grow due to climate change it is vital to manage the lands surrounding rural communities in order to provide them with a buffer zone to reduce the risk of interface fires.
It's also a really fricken cool part of this job, I mean how often do you get paid to light things on fire? It's super cathartic 😌 📷: @chadg167

Did you know that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will be victims of domestic violence or abuse in their lifetime?
Nobody deserves to be abused. Everyone deserves to be safe, loved and respected. At all times. Period.
The more awareness, knowledge and education we have access to, the better off we all are. You have the power to break the cycle of violence in families and save lives.
You can take concrete steps in your daily lives to help achieve this goal, including taking part in campaigns like this one by @shalomtaskforce that stimulate discussion and awareness of this important issue. Domestic violence is happening in our communities and it has to stop.
You can repost this image (swipe left to screenshot it) add your name on the line and take a stand against domestic violence. Let's #standupforshalom .

His attitude and positivity to life despite his challenges was truly inspiring. He was honoured to captain the Australian Invictus Team in 2017, but today, the honour was mine. Capturing his story to help the mental health of other individuals who may be struggling. Puts it all into perspective.
