Low back pain is the most common pain I see and while there is so much involved in the rehab process such as stress, posture, history etc... Strength endurance is a key component to consider. 
Enter the suitcase carry a great advanced yet simple exericise to help strengthen the lateral core. The lateral core is required to hold the pelvis up and lock to the core which is required in any activity which involves standing on your legs and moving.

The suitcase carry involves picking up a kettlebell with one hand and walking 20m. Then repeat process on the other side!

Key tip- make sure you are actively bracing your core and keeping your body straight

Regressions- side plank on wall, bench or floor

Progressions- increase weight or try racked and bottoms up carry variations *this exercise should not increase your pain symptoms. If it does begin with one of the regressions mentioned above

Erm, well it’s scary, it’s high, and there’s a long way down? It’s maybe surprising then that a potentially stressful activity can actually be an effective treatment for depression. Plus you don’t even have to go that high, bouldering can have the same effect (Luttenberger et al, 2015).

It makes sense that dangling off a slab of rock demands pretty high levels of cognitive functions. Concentration for a start, coordination to make the right movements, plus regulation of your emotions to keep cool, calm and collected (Kleinstauber et al, 2017).

A lack of emotional regulation has been recognised in people with mental health disorders, particularly depression, and so the recruitment of all those cognitive function over a course of rock climbing acts to enhance cognitive control.

Plus, Garllotta et al (2015) explain how athletes with a moderate degree of anxiety actually performed better. So not only will you be getting a cognitive workout, but you can harness some of that mental tension and turn it into a skill. Sounds perfect to us.

Over the last 5 weeks I have cleaned up my diet and lifestyle, pressing the reset button with an intensive 2 week health kick-start. My mind and body have aligned with a much healthier mindset, my gut is happy, I am full of energy and my fat mass has decreased, enabling me to get back into clothes that were destined for storage! 🌟💃💜

I have done cleanses/detoxes before and have always had great short term results but bad habits always creep back. It is like being on a merry-go-round. 🎠

🍃Celebrating health achievements🍃 . Over the last 5 weeks I have cleaned up my diet and lifestyle, pressing the reset button with an intensive 2 week health kick-start. My mind and body have aligned with a much healthier mindset, my gut is happy, I am full of energy and my fat mass has decreased, enabling me to get back into clothes that were destined for storage! 🌟💃💜 . I have done cleanses/detoxes before and have always had great short term results but bad habits always creep back. It is like being on a merry-go-round. 🎠 . This time I decided it was going to be different and I was going to find balance in order to maintain this new found health-for-life attitude.✔ . I have been in the depths of chronic health issues, indulgent with foods and alcohol, tired, overweight and just plain unhealthy. I am not perfect...I am human. Es igual de importante el control motor cervical como la estabilidad escapular. Muchas personas con discinesia escapular (escápula alada) tienes problemas cervicales recurrentes, eso se debe a una falta de sincronización en la activación muscular (⬆️ Trapecio superior sobreactivado y acortado, al igual que angular y pectoral menor). Por el otro lado, ⬇️ Debilidad o inhibición del trapecio medio, inferior y serrato anterior, haciendo que el ritmo escapulo-humeral no sea bueno, y con ello el del raquis cervical tampoco⚠️ ✅ Además estirar o liberar musculatura acortada: pectoral menor y mayor, trapecio superior, angular, romboides, evitará problemas y lesiones de hombro.
