For my DNP evidence-based final paper, I wrote a study on HPV uptake among boys. It was fascinating how many of these boys did not know what HPV was, if they had been vaccinated, or how it was transmitted. *
What is HPV?
Most commonly sexually transmitted infection. *
How is it spread?
It is transmitted by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the HPV virus. Most commonly spread through vaginal or anal sex. How can be spread even when an infected person has no symptoms!! 😲 Anyone who is sexually active can get HPV, even if you have sex with one person. You may not develop symptoms for years after having sex with someone who is infected.

How common is HPV and what can it cause? 
79 million Americans are currently infected and 14 million newly infected each year! 😲 In most cases, HPV will be cleared on its own. When it doesn't go away, it can cause genital warts (roughy 340,000-360,000 people are affected by genital warts caused by HPV each year), cervical cancer (12,000 women living with diagnosed cervical cancer and 4,000 died), vaginal cancer, penile cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, vulva cancer, and anal cancer. *
How to avoid HPV?
Get vaccinated: CDC recommends 11-12 year olds get two doses  of the HPV vaccine 
Get screened for cervical cancer
If sexually active-use protection (latex condoms, monogamy) *

☁️A meta-analysis in 2014 found a strong association between vitamin D and schizophrenia. People with a deficiency were TWICE as likely to have schizophrenia as those with sufficient levels.

🙏🏻McGrath & colleagues (2004) also found that taking vitamin D supplements during the first year of life had a lower risk of schizophrenia later on (88% less risk).

I like salad! I like to eat! That’s okay!! This is spring mix, carrots, cucumbers, shredded chicken, hot sauce, and lite blue cheese. This tastes good to me. It’s not boring or forced. I was actually thinking about this lunch all morning long 🙈🙈🙈🙈 I think the trick to making a maintainable “diet” work is to find the foods you like to eat and make it work for you! Make sure your back is at a right angle to your thighs. Maintain your thighs at a right angle to your calves. Keep your shoulders straight and squared, your head upright, and your neck, back, and heels aligned.
* Align your back with the back of the office chair. This will help you avoid slouching or leaning forward, which you may find yourself doing after sitting too long at your desk.
Check your posture by sitting on your hands. Put your hands under your sit bones while you are sitting on the floor. Make sure that your palms are facing down. Adjust your position until you can feel the weight centered on each of your palms. This is your optimal seated position.
Adjust your legs and keep your feet flat while sitting. Your feet should be flat on the floor, facing forward. Don't cross your legs or ankles. Make your thighs parallel to the floor.
* If your feet don't touch the floor, use a footrest.
Find a supportive chair to help you maintain good posture. Use a chair that's ergonomically designed for proper support, meaning it supports all of your back, even the curve at the bottom. Also, make sure it's designed for your height and weight.

Traveller's diarrhoea continues to affect 20-50% of international travellers.
Here are some tips to prevent traveller's diarrhoea 👊
➡️Contaminated food is the major cause of traveller's diarrhoea , these are the foods that should be avoided:
❌raw, rare or uncooked meats
❌unpeeled fruit and vegetables
❌green leafy veggies especially lettuce
❌seafood, especially raw
❌unpasteurized dairy food, including milk
❌food from street vendors
❌food buffets ➡️Contaminated water is a huge issue too so make sure you ❌avoid ice in drinks
❌avoid drinking tap water - only drink bottler water

Kristen is a delight to work with; always smiling and happy to help others. Currently completing her studies in the health sciences, Kristen is very passionate about human health and wellness. 
Years ago, Kristen worked with her husband to establish a software company. When she joined our team, she fit right in to our paperless practice and was a total wiz with our secure Medicare software setup.
Kristen was also part of the Australian sailing team and went to the Olympics in Greece! When she isn’t at the practice, you can find Kristen in the ocean kayaking or teaching others how to improve their wave navigation or swimming technique. Kristen is also a talented baker and regularly brings in healthy brownies for our whole team! We are grateful to have her as part of our team at EHMP!
