What I’ve come to be most thankful is just what’s pictured above. The new found calm I’ve created when life flips me upside down and makes everything a bit shaky.
I’m thankful for the moment in wheel pose when I no longer need to know what is going on around me, what I am supposed to look like or what exactly I am reaching for. The moment when I let the pose take me over, finding just a bit of ease in my breath, and realize I can find my way even when all things feel unstable and imperfect.
One of the benefits of having two weeks off the bike is that I’ve been doing a lot of reading on training and nutrition—specifically for female athletes. First, why have I never heard most of this before? And second, if I really want to race at the pro/elite level next year, I need to eat a lot less Clif bars and a lot more real food. Here’s to Friday night at home in the kitchen cooking and eating good food.
