CONTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT: ANTHONY HADJ⠀@drantsplants
When my story first went viral, things got crazy very quickly for me. It felt like I was doing interviews non-stop with radio and TV shows from all over the world. It was mostly a lot of fun but one thing I was unprepared for was the backlash from so-called ‘experts’ in the media who only wanted to criticise me and insist that I was being foolish and dangerous. I was preparing for another interview live on mainstream TV when an email came through from Dr Anthony Hadj. I was expecting more criticism but was pleasantly surprised to find words of encouragement and reassurance that what I was doing was healthy and safe and I should ignore all the doubters and naysayers. Fast forward a couple of years and I remain good friends with Ants and am inspired by his boundless positivity and dedication to helping his patients heal with the power of plants, especially potatoes!⠀
Dr Hadj was inspired to go plant based by the likes of Drs John McDougall and Caldwell Esselstyn and now incorporates this healthy way of eating into the management plans of his patients young and old. I’ve even seen his subscription pads with healthy recipes scribbled out on them! Anthony has a particular focus on how living with chronic disease can have huge detrimental impacts on the mental health of his patients and those close to them. He derives great pleasure from seeing his patients become happier, healthier, lighter and free of medication. Find out more about Dr Hadj at Livinglongertoday.com ⠀

Last night, my best friend confided in me about her food issues and how she recently noticed that whenever she arrived at her "goal weight" she would immediately run back to overeating. So much so that within a couple of months, she was already up to 6kg heavier again.
This was a very familiar story that resonated deeply as it entirely represented my life and relationship with food, too. In fact, I only became aware of this pattern of behaviour I had on repeat when this time last year I began the Potato Cleanse. As soon as night one, & with thanks to a joint, some inner reflection took place and I realised this was straight out a food addiction.
I have an entire spiel about food addiction that I wrote then, staring at me now from my laptop screen. I consider it best delivered as a video or podcast, but I will share some of my realisations here, right now, for anyone struggling with food addiction or problems in this moment.
1. The authentic *purpose* of food is to sustain life. The quality of food determines the quality of the house you experience life through.
2. Food doesn't need to taste good. In fact, this obsession to eat only delicious foods means the tongue has become our master, and us, its servant
3. Food restricted or food in excess numbs the body. What are you hiding from feeling by over/under eating?
4. Food can either be a stepping stone or a direct barrier to our spirituality. Balance is necessary. In some moments, the body yearns to fast. In others, it longs to eat. Do you hear it? Are you in tune with your body?
If you have a food issue and can't identify the pattern or limiting behaviour you are living through, send me a message outlining your issues and I will see if I can offer any perspective.
Love and light xo

First stop in London: @vantralondon!!!
Vantra is a buffet style restaurant; vegan, gluten free, and cares about the ingredients they use!!!!
They use little to no oil, let you choose which sauces you want, and they have raw meals, fermented meals, and cooked meals.
Yes I will be returning to try their dessert.
My stomach feels really good after eating there. I had Two fermented meals and mashed potatoes and pulled jackfruit. And a smoothie not pictured. Yum 😍
"Make your food boring and your life interesting" is something I've said a lot. To me that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy your food at all or do anything that might make it taste nicer, it's just an acknowledgement that it's ok to eat food that's not as exciting as we are used to. It's about being aware that getting too much excitement, emotional support, comfort and enjoyment from food is what got us into this mess in the first place. It's about recognising that our relationship with food has been an unhealthy one and that we can enjoy our lives without relying on food. We still need pleasure in our lives, we still need that dopamine hit but it doesn't have to come from food. We can get all the pleasure and emotional support we need from other areas of life. There's nothing wrong with enjoying your food, as long is it's the right food (in our case potatoes) but let's focus on enjoying this great big experience we call LIFE and not just our food. Find something cool to DO!
Day 2 of my week of strictly spuds only (no flavour) to support my friends @1inkerman_cowork who are doing their own #spudfitchallenge (not my idea! 😜) @vybrnt_official @nudathelabel @dudizvedeniuk
Getting back to basics this week. Here’s my lunch today! This week I’m doing strictly potatoes only, no seasoning or flavour a of any kind. Just cold, plain boiled potatoes. Never done it so strictly before so interested to see how it goes. Folks at my cowork space @1inkerman_cowork are joining in too! (Not my idea! 😜) @vybrnt_official @nudathelabel
Spicy potato soup and on my hand is a bowl with "potato broth" boiled down to a nice thick consistency with chunks of semi mashed pieces of boiled potatoes, to be used as a "dip" with my oven toasted potato chips. #Yum
Ingredients to taste. I use minimal amounts except for the cayenne pepper. I like mine nice and #spicy .
Himalayan Pink Salt (if you must)
If you've noticed, most of these have been made with repeated ingredients and the reason for that is time. I started this on a #Sunday#OutOfTheBlue so I'm using what I have at home for now. This weekend is grocery shopping #woohoo Also, I will slowly start to use less and less ingredients except for the cayenne pepper. Yes, I love spicy and if anything the cayenne pepper helps more than it hurts the process 😁 The goal is to use 0 ingredients as to allow the real process of the potato diet to take effect. However, even in how I'm doing it, I've lost almost 10 lbs in 4 days. #NotBad 😁😎🤗😍 #potatocleanse#potatodiet#veganfriendly#vegan
