This past winter I discovered the world of home decor, specifically farmhouse style. I've always been drawn to a more rustic style but with birthday money, tax returns, and pinterest ideas galore, I went crazy trying to transform my home into the cute little farmhouse I dreamed of. I felt like I HAD to have certain items or my decor would look lame. One of my must have items was this two tiered tray. Many people use these to show off more decor and switch out items per season, or even every holiday. I've kept mine sort of neutral as to not have to keep buying more. But here's the thing. All I do is move it around because it keeps getting in the way. My kids (mostly the baby) just grab all the crap off it or mess with it. And I don't have company hardly ever so no ones really seeing all my effort to look cute lol. And don't get me started on Rae Dunn decor 🙈 I bought whatever random items I could find and now have awkward mismatched pieces. Yes, they're pretty, but not necessary. Moral of the story, don't buy things just because they're trendy or what you think you should have. Do I love my farmhouse decor? Absolutely, but it wasnt stuff I truly needed. And now all I see is wasted money when I look at it. Money that should have gone to debt. Time to post some more stuff for sale 👍

"Researchers from the Global Centre for Clean Air Research at the University of Surrey looked at how much air pollution people are breathing in and found that babies in strollers are exposed as much as 60 percent more pollution than their parents, according to Science Daily.
These pollutants are particularly dangerous to infants, as they can potentially cause brain damage and hinder future development.
Children in strollers are positioned lower to the ground than their parents, and the air tends to be most polluted down there.
Professor Prashant Kumar, Founding Director of the Global Centre for Clean Air Research said in a statement to Science Daily that infants are uniquely vulnerable to air pollution:
"We know that infants breathe in higher amounts of airborne particles relative to their lung size and body weight compared to adults. What we have proven here is that the height most children travel at while in a pram increases the likelihood of negative impacts from air pollution when compared to an adult."
Kumar went on to explain that "because of their tissues, immune systems, and brain development at this early stage of their life, it is extremely worrying that they are being exposed to these dangerous levels of pollution.”
In order to mitigate this risk, Kumar and the team of researchers suggested a number of strategies such as controlling vehicle emissions and putting up barriers like hedges between sidewalks and the road..."

I mourn the loss of my old body. The strong stomach and the arms that could lift without failing and the legs that bounced back after leg day. But I also cherish the newness of this phase - the stretch marks that show I grew a life, the softness that shows I nourished her and held her and gave her strength even as my own faded. The ears that will never unhear tiny baby snores and the sound of a newborns laugh. The legs trapped under a 13 lb body that isn't my own for hours at a time. The hands that little fingers search for. The eyes that capture every moment with a renewed sense of wonder. It's the same body that I've had for twenty four years now but my goodness is it a different body. I mourn but I revel in what it's capable of and what it has done. Sometimes you don’t know where to start. Sometimes you feel overwhelmed or tired or begin making excuses for yourself before you even take that first step. I can promise you one thing: M O V E M E N T is going to make you feel better than before you started. Our bodies are meant to MOVE! We are not supposed to be sedentary beings! This can mean going for a walk, doing some jumping jacks/body weight squats in your living room, running/hiking, or deadlifting 225 like a beast! Whatever you have to do at YOUR pace, just start moving. The beauty is in the revelation you have upon completion, that you trusted yourself to make it through. YOU led yourself to this better feeling and YOU made this happen. I believe in ya, guys! 😌✌️

I almost let my frustrations and sleep deprivation get to me. All the negative thoughts saying “you can’t be a coach, how are you going to inspire people when you can’t inspire yourself?” I almost thought about giving up. 😔#

During pregnancy have you ever looked down and noticed your belly suddenly has a shark fin running down the middle? In the biz, we call this "doming." Sometimes called "coning." .
First a quick lesson in physics. Wait! Please don't leave! This is relevant, I swear. Your core functions as a hydraulic pressurized system. This is great news because without intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) we'd all be big piles of jelly. Ideally, it goes like this:
Inhale ➡️ Pressure increases. The belly expands to give that pressure somewhere to go. The pelvic floor will yield downward to give the pressure space.
Exhale ➡️ IAP decreases. The diaphragm and pelvic floor lift and revert to starting position.
Certain positions, movements and breath strategies can cause additional influxes of pressure. For the most part we handle those just fine. But now you're pregnant (congratulations!). Your abdominal wall is expanding, and the connective tissue running down the mid-line of your belly is stretching making it vulnerable. Your pelvic floor has the weight of your little bundle of joy on it 24/7. Your core system is under a new workload, and sometimes (and isn't this just the perfect metaphor for life) the pressure is just too much.
Back to physics! Unmanaged pressure in a system will try to escape through openings and weak spots. If it goes downward, this is when we may see things like pelvic floor dysfunction. Poorly managed pressure during an exercise can also push out against that vulnerable mid-line connective tissue. And that is what we are seeing when we see doming abs. .
What does this mean for your training plan? Well, if we see doming in a pregnant client we try to listen to what the abs are telling us. Usually it's, "Whoa! You need to slow your roll. This is too much for me right now." Sometimes we can change breathing or alignment strategies. Other times, we make the decision to put that exercise on hold until postpartum. It's really case-by-case and why we are so committed to one-on-one training for this population. There is no one-size-fits-all training plan for the perinatal population.

What a difference in this girl from the left to the right. Post baby for 4 solid months I struggled in every sense of the word. It was straining on our relationship having this little baby come into our lives as new parents and not being able to sleep. He didn’t start sleeping through the night until 6 months old. So we were up every few hours for MONTHS. 😑😫😴. .
I was in survival mode, Although I never missed a meal 😂 and baby was always fed. Sure, I started back to my workouts at 6 Weeks postpartum. But the weight stuck to me like when you get super glue on your fingers and it won’t come off without extensive scrubbing 😅😭. It was SO depressing.
I was over weight. Tired. My body was strained from everything. And I felt hopeless. .
I made a commitment to myself to do a scary 80 day workout program starting in January and that FINALLY kick started my weight loss. I was honing in on meal planning like it was my job. The weight and inches were moving. .
Slowly and steadily through multiple at home workouts, drinking my dense nutrition shakes, and eating consciously and using these meal plans I’ve lost 30lbs this year 🙌🏻💪🏼😆🙏🏻😁. I’m starting to feel more like myself each day. I’ve grown closer in my faith and have connected with some gosh darn amazing women that truly set my soul on fire 🔥
. I couldn’t have done this without my amazing girl tribe being there every step of the way. Through the times I felt defeated and stagnant, to those times where I would be on my knees crying, they were there for me. 👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️
I’m still not at my goal, but I’m dang proud of the progress I’ve made. .

(No, just me?🙋♀️) However, JLo didn’t earn her booty 🍑 by not moving and you aren’t going to either 💁♀️, so even though you own it🙈, watching it on TV comes with a great recurring movement opportunity aka. commercial breaks! 🙌 (Note for my Netflix/Hulu/HBOGO/etc. crowd: commercials are not necessary to get off the couch and get moving while you binge!👯♀️)
So set yourself up for success 🏆 and have a weight hanging out in/near the living room, so that when Joanna and Chip go to commercial you can sneak some exercise in! 💪

🏄♂️Hinges (like a deadlift or single leg deadlift)
💪You can also go for muscle isolation moves too! Either way, pick 4-6 moves, and do either 30s of each move or rep/set it out!
👉Really, it’s about getting some movement in in a scenario that you otherwise wouldn’t have.👈So find your windows and seize those opportunities for a ‘move break!’ 💃

However, I battle postpartum depression on a daily basis. That’s ok, I’ve dealt with it for nearly a year now and I think things are going well. -
Something I do on a daily basis also however is; I read the news. Not just any news, I ready the Daily Mail. Yep I know, don’t worry judge me I do! I’ve recently realised that by doing this I’m depressing myself even more. Of course, I should stop right? I don’t though, it’s so easy. So to turn things around I hope to bring us all SOMETHING HAPPY EVERYDAY. -
Even if only one person reads these daily posts, I hope to make at least one person a little bit happier. Everyday. -
