The difference a year can make! This time last year I was uncomfortable, impatient and had a lot of time on my hands! This year.. But seriously mamas, instead of complaining about not having enough time for yourself, for your dreams&goals, bad talking about that mom that claims to get shit done (to yourself or on Social media) how about taking ownership of your day and going to bed a little earlier and getting up earlier. Get up before the kids and the hubby for a little mommy time. To either workout, drink that cup coffee in peace, do some journaling, personal development, get a shower by yourself or just be able to 💩 alone!

I also cannot believe how much our bodies continue to change and morph consistently. I can see changes happening each and every month and I find it so fascinating when I look back at photos of myself over the past few months.

Real talk I haven’t seen my pre-pregnancy weight since... well, pre-pregnancy!! lol I have legit teetered right around 1lb away from my pre-baby weight for MONTHS now! Lol it’s like a slap in the face but, in all reality my body composition is drastically different than it was before becoming pregnant and though I have put in some work, I haven’t truly challenged myself to “shred down” or really worry about being “perfect”. I’m in a place now where I feel good about me and my self image. And tho I do have goals and I work towards them, I am also very content that I finally love my body for more than how it looks back at me in the mirror.

I also know that your “normal” can change and fluctuate. My normal was different in my early 20’s than it was in my late 20’s and now even more so. I learned to let go of the scale numbers long ago, but letting go of perfection was more recent. I’m ok if the scale is a little bitch, because I love where I am and where I’m going.

Don’t let the numbers rule you postpartum, or EVER!! Work to feel good about you!

I said YES to a program and an online support group 3 years ago that completely changed my life because it taught me HOW to incorporate healthy eating and fitness INTO the current lifestyle I was already living-- which included being a full time teacher and a wife and mom.. -
My main goal was to lose all my postpartum baby weight that was hanging around so I could feel more like myself.. So I could gain some confidence back.. And so that my clothes would just FIT better! And then that eventually turned into HAPPILY losing 10 extra pre-pregnancy pounds that my body didn't NEED because I learned the simple and easy ways to fuel my body and not deprive it.. -
And that is WHY I do what I do and I am so passionate about sharing my story and my mission for helping other women get THAT for their own life, because it can be SO MUCH easier than you think! -

Happy because I continue to show every day for ME and happy because I feel so strong and healthy. Happy because my body created two beautiful babes! Happy because i am a mother that will NEVER give in to laziness! I have created a wonderful routine in my life that allows me to feel my best. It wasn’t easy at first, but I have priorities.

I Iearned all women in France receive pelvic floor therapy after childbirth. They are automatically sent AND it’s paid for by the government. That’s right - every mother regardless of income has access to it

In the US, women get one short appointment with their provider at 6 weeks (WHICH IS ETERNITY because those 6 weeks are..well, the longest of your life) after birth and that’s it. Usually your pelvic floor muscles are not checked for strength, your scar for restriction, your abdominals for diastasis recti. We go through one of the biggest physical transformations of our lives and then get a thumbs up like “You’re good. All clear. Carry on. See ya.”

The postpartum care in the US leaves much to be desired. So, don’t wait for a provider to send you to PT. In most states you can walk right in to see a PT without a referral

Urinary and fecal incontinence (peeing/pooping involuntarily) are NOT byproducts of childbirth. Feeling like something is falling out (pelvic organ prolapse IS A THING) is not something that should happen to everyone. Abdominal separation (mommy pooch) can be prevented and retrained

We HAVE to take care of our own bodies and our own lady parts, because no one else is going to, unless you live in France, apparently. 🇫🇷

✖️BBG WEEK 3 MODIFIED ABS | ARMS AND ABS✖️ As many of you know, I have a slight separation in my abs after having my three babies. I modify my abs and do DR friendly core exercises to avoid doing any crunching or movements that would cause strain on the fascia between my abs as they heal (which they are doing!!!). If you have an ab separation or diastasis recti but still want to do @kayla_itsines BBG feel free to follow along with my page and my hashtag #BBGModifiedAbs where I'll be sharing how I modify each week so that you can keep doing BBG! .
✖️Circuit One✖️15 push-ups, 15 medicine ball squat and press, 15 lay down push-ups, 15 tricep dips.
✖️Circuit Two✖️ 40 mountain climbers, 30 second plank, 30 glute bridges, 10 SLOW leg slides.

Be sure to check with your doctor before you do any exercises, to make sure it's right for you). ‼️In any core exercise please be sure to tuck your pelvis and engage your core by pulling your belly button to your spine and feeling like you are closing your abs together like a book. Go slow, breathe deep, and really feel the movements. ‼️

Aleina LOVES Disney and is literally the only kid in her class who wears a princess dress everyday... it drives me insane sometimes and I wish she would wear some cool jeans and a hoodie .... but - THAT is her personality... she loves all things shiny and pink and princess... It isn’t about what’s cool to me or what I like it’s about allowing her to be herself and express herself through her clothes ❤️

I work my 40+ hours a week and really just want to go home to snuggle my baby girl. Full time working momma, new mommy, and working on my fitness/health is hard work! 
Recently, I have noticed that my lack of working out is effecting me. I am more emotional and feeling stressed out all the time. My job is crazy!  Life as a social worker is so hard and emotionally taxing. The gyl has always been my therapist and not being consistent is impacting my mental health. 
So...what I am going to start doing is a little set of some kind of exercise everytime I go to pump while at work. It isn't a lot I know, but it is something to get me moving at work

I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing this week 🙂 With fall approaching, I know this part of the year can feel overwhelming.  A lot of my clients are scrambling to get their kids ready to go back to school while at the same time, trying to cram as many activities into these last summer days. 
Summer is the care-free season so it’s hard to let it go – but at the same time, many of us crave the structure and routine fall can bring.
Wherever you find yourself, try not to get caught up in the stress of it all and make sure you’re serving yourself while you serve everyone else. Stick to your workout routine.  Drink your water.  Get your sleep.  Savor the days and make sure you are sticking to those habits that make you feel good.  I know when I don’t skip my workout – I’m a better coach, better spouse and better mother.
One of the main reasons I started coaching was to help people get into a routine of healthy habits.  It’s a no-nonsense approach to eating and exercising, along with lifestyle tips, too.  Some people join simply to reset eating habits (summer tends to take them off track) while continuing their current fitness routine.  Others use it for complete accountability.

½ cup pitted cherries (frozen or fresh)
8 ounces of unsweetened coconut milk

One of the main reasons I started coaching was to help people get into a routine of healthy habits. It’s a no-nonsense approach to eating and exercising, along with lifestyle tips, too. Some people join simply to reset eating habits (summer tends to take them off track) while continuing their current fitness routine. Others use it for complete accountability. So you guys know we came to Philadelphia with the intention of staying one night and that somehow turned into 6 weeks? I have always preferred back bends over forward bends but they aren’t coming easy for me in my postpartum practice. It’s going to take a while to regain my mobility and to feel good with heart opening...in more ways than one. 🧡

What a crazy 3 month transformation!!

I decided to make a real commitment!! To be 100% dedicated. To really beat my mindset that I can do it.
.
I have told myself a year ago, that my postpartum journey will not be any rush to get my body back, just do what makes me happy Workout, eat clean, and once a week enjoy some splurge. I knew once I hit the 12 month mark that’s when I want to start being dedicated.

When I put my mind on something and set a plan, I do it. I have always wanted to do a show after having a baby, because the fitness moms  always inspired me that it’s possible. I wanted to prove myself and others it is possible, even if you have Diastasis recti, a crazy toddler, busy life. Also I always wanted to do a masters show! So here I am at this journey.

Bikini competition is not an easy sport. It’s more then looking good, getting a 6 pack, Looking lean. It’s 100% mental. It has taught me a lot....it taught me dedication, creating a structure, priorities, clarity, self control .. it’s basically a mental detox

I am happy where I am at Because it gave me a new vision and gave me a better perspective on what I want in life!! So what’s next after my show in 2 weeks? I guess you will find out 🤪🤗🤩

I know I’m smiling in this picture but I’ll be honest, some days I have to use every mental tool in my box to make peace with my #postbabybody.

I know some of you will look at this picture and wonder why I would feel that way, but I am still 15 pounds more than I was when I found out I was pregnant.

It’s honestly not my body that bothers me so much (it grew a baby, pushed her out, and is now growing her again) it’s that none of my clothes fit me and I’ve spent the last 3 months in stretch pants. I walk into my closet every morning and glance over to all of my adorable outfits and cute jeans, and then I reach for my sweats. I’m back to work next week and I’m contemplating wearing my #maternity dresses because I have no other option. My mind tries to convince me that I “should” be closer to my pre baby goal weight.

The quickest way for me to transform my frustration is to use #gratitude.

I say this to clients all the time but today I really need to hear it myself, “don’t let the gift be the problem”. I know this is a finite period of time for where I stand weight wise. I know the right foods to put in my body, and I understand why my body is holding onto this weight. 
I see that my lesson is to go beyond my ego of needing to look "the part" and trust that I can still be your guide to ultimate health in body and mind without having a flat stomach.

I heard that a lot when I first started. Well yeah it takes time to grow a business. It takes time to learn what works best to help others have the success that I’ve had. It takes time to invest in myself. It takes time to truly invest and support other women. 💕 .
I LOVE it! I love the community of women I have found. I love seeing other women go from feeling defeated to STRONG! I love the personal development I do so I can be more positive and pour out to others. I love that I can unapologetically share my faith and love on and support other women! I love it all... but one of my biggest reasons I do it (besides the accountability to take care of myself) is for this man 💍 He works HARD for us! He works hard so I can stay part time in a place I love, and also be home more with our littles. Even if it means he is gone more. 🚒 So really it’s for us. My little family. So daddy can be home more with us. So mommy can shift her focus from hating how she looks to loving how she feels.

I am beyond proud of Belinda! 25 lbs down (12 kgs). She struggled when we started feeling like she couldn’t do it all so I told her to find a few things she COULD do & go from there. She did and look what happened!!!You don’t have to be perfect you just have for try. Small changes add up over time. Belinda didn’t follow strict macros but instead we focused on balancing her meals. It actually got to a point where I was physically sick from stress. No fun at all. ⁣

This can happen when you’re going through some “stuff” with relationships, business, career, friendships, and so on. ⁣

My advice when you’re feeling overwhelmed and frantic?⁣
⁣
👉🏼call a friend. a really supportive, non-judgmental friend who always has your back. sometimes we just need to vent and this is something that helped me tremendously. ⁣
⁣
👉🏼spend time with family. I’m already obsessed with my kids but I find when I’m SUPER stressed, I need more cuddles and hugs from my husband and kiddos. And more nights in watching Netflix and folding clothes with my #1 man. ain’t nothing wrong with that. ⁣
⁣
👉🏼lessen your workouts. if you’re super stressed out, chances are your cortisol is higher than usual and working out (even though a good stressor at the right times) can do more harm than good. try implementing light yoga or walking in times of stress. ⁣
⁣
👉🏼keep your food as nutrient dense as possible. try to limit sugar and alcohol as these can exacerbate stress in your body. focus on loads of greens, lots of protein, bone broth, collagen, healthy fats, and nourishing carbs (your adrenals will thank you🙏🏼!)⁣

Also, keep in mind: EVERYONE HAS SHIT GOING ON. Social media is really good at making it seem like people have their stuff together or that their life seems perfect, but I can tell you right now that is FAR from the truth. Everyone has issues and stressors and problems in their life. ⁣

He has been a part of my “selfies” and progress pics for 19 months now and I have to say, as much as I loved my baby bump, I love getting to know him outside my uterus even more.😎 (Its way more comfortable too!😂)

This past couple of weeks it’s been tough to stick to a gym schedule with him being sick, home and the most restless nights of sleep since he was a NB. .
Learning to get it in when I can and make do with squeezing in a workout wherever has been the game. This has certainly caused me to get more creative and realize there is so much more I can really do in a pinch.

When you have a baby, there is really no certainty in your schedule bc as soon as you feel you have it down, here comes the curve ball!😆

If anything, being a mom as taught me to take a major chill pill and realize that the plot twists are sometimes the most important parts of our journeys. .
The gym will be there. The craziness of life will come and go. Just know squeezing it in when you can also counts towards your goals too.😉

Transformation Tuesday! 🤗 ⏮⏮⏮⏮ rewind edition ⏮⏮⏮⏮ A lot can change surely change in one year! 
People assume I've always been motivated and fit & that can't be the farthest from true. I've been doing at home workouts for 4 years, previous to that, I didn't do SQUAT! <-- pun intended! 😝 
Well, I did dabble in the gym from time to time, not having a clue what I was doing, only to leave and consume more empty calories than I burned. 😳

What changed for me? I can assure you it wasn't this burst of energy. Motivation. Strength. 
It was a commitment I made to MYSELF that I refused to go back on! I deserved happy. I deserved healthy. I deserved success. 
What changed for me was I got sick of saying no, watching others achieve what I was capable of, and I trained myself to say YES! I got sick of putting all my effort toward excuses and I started putting it toward action! 👍🏽 I said YES to programs that work. 👍🏽I said YES to relying on others for accountability. 👍🏽 I said YES to MY goals!

Courage comes to those who act, not those who think, wait, and wonder! STOP watching everyone else with envy and START saying yes to your health! ⬅️ The body of the left (mom of one) was achieved using 30-40 minute at home workouts & balanced nutrition! ➡️ The body on the right, 6 weeks postpartum, gave me two amazing babies, and I couldn't be more proud of all my body has endured, but mama is ready to get her groove back! 
We have a •ton• of life happening right now.

I spoke to a friend who just gave birth and she found out she had pelvic organ prolapse. She said she went to the bathroom one day and it felt like her insides were falling out. #Pelvicorganprolapse is when one or more of the organs in the pelvis slip down from their normal position and bulge in the vagina: It can be the womb, bowel, bladder or top of the vagina. It is not life threatning and can be corrected with pelvic floor exercises.

I was grateful she opened up to me about it because it armed me with information,for myself or others who may need it in future. That is the power in sharing as new mothers.

There is little opportunity to talk about how battered and bruised giving birth leaves our bodies on the inside! We present a bump, a baby, maybe some baby weight, a few noticable stretch marks to the world, but no one really talks about

One thing my friend said was that TYING OF BELLY AND MASSAGING WITH HOT WATER CAUSED THIS FOR HER! This is such a common Nigerian practice that new mothers are encouraged to do to flatten our tummies, but it’s dangerous! The heat puts pressure on the organs and pushes them down resulting in prolapse.

Make sure you always do #PelvicFloorExercises I still do them 13 months in...sometimes lol. .

after our workout yesterday 🤣🖕🏼how Ryan feels about @joelfreemanfitness in all seriousness though... both Ryan and I have noticed HUGE SHIFTS in our stamina and energy during the day... it was an added bonus we weren’t expecting! Working out with your spouse can be intimidating and uncertain but we both have had the opportunity to push + stand to physically support each other through this. We’ve been through some hard things, we haven’t broken... (not just this program) and we always come out stronger and that’s the gift I want to give to others. That when they acknowledge everything they have survived, everything they have walked through in life, all the mucky crap... they can truly see their own strength and what a warrior they are! That they can stop saying ‘everything happens for a reason’ and know that ‘it’s possible to find meaning in everything that happens.’ YOU are a WARRIOR. it’s amazing what happens when you push yourself out of the comfortable, safe, secure, dependable and into the world of possibility, dreams, and uncomfortable 🖤 you RISE ✨ now thank GOD it’s a rest day!!! I think Monday mornings are my favorite.. -

The busyness of the weekend has died down.. Morning routine picks up again.. And I get to sit back and ENJOY myself while I watch these 3 bond.. -
They get to wake up when they want.. They get to eat breakfast and drink their milk when they want.. They get to snuggle as much as they want.. All without me running around trying to get them out the door to be on time for work.. -
This wasn't always how I envisioned my mornings running.. Far from it actually.. But I am so glad that a bit of hard work, a leap of faith, and a continued drive has made this a reality for us.. #morningsbydesign #mondaymorning #routine #sahm

Today may be known as an 'active rest day' but still got up normal time--after a FULL night's sleep {thanks Grandma and Grandpa Rhode} and looked at Kevin and said what should we do today?? His response "Wanna just go and drive somewhere NEW??" Umm YEAH! -
I made sure to grab my essentials and crushed out some serious to-do list work on the drive.. Fitting it all in the cracks of our random conversations and eerie silence in the car! 
Usually Saturdays are my chill day but dang when you have this seriously EPIC FREE group coming up starting Monday you gotta make sure everyone is ready to go!!! -
