“I need to move around a bit. To shuffle my surroundings. To wake up in cities I don’t know my way around and have conversations in languages I cannot entirely comprehend. There is always this tremendous longing in my heart to be lost, to be someplace else, to be far far away from all of this.” •

Today we did just that, Chelsea and I had no idea where we were going, just a map in our hand and locals who did their best to help us. We have the basics down when trying to speak, especially the word obrigado ,which translates to thank you in Portuguese, thanking those who helped us along this journey. It wasn't the most ideal day to get those "instagram shots" (c'mon you know we all want to have them) with it raining the whole time and us being drenched from head to toe ,clothes sticking to us... But it's the weather and it's something we cannot control. What we can control is how we handle the situation and our outlook on it. Even though the rain was quite evident ( wet clothes hanging up in the hotel to remind us as I am typing this), nothing could stop us. We literally had quite the adventure getting lost in little street ways around the hilly city taking in the sights, architecture, the tiling, people, etc while laughing at how out of shape we are from the steep uphill streets and stairs. Today we made the most of it and in the end as corny as this sounds ... that's all what really matters.
This shot was taken on the Dom Luís I Bridge also known as Ponte de D. Luís. You can walk above or below, we were above where the metros cross and the cars drive below. You could get great shots of the city from both sides. It hadn't rained that hard when this was taken and the misty haze made for an amazing shot with #nofilter needed.
