Cold winter mornings are made for warm porridge 🥣 My morning today looks a lot like this, except it’s rushed and there is definitely no pretty photo because I never have the time to take photos on the rare mornings I get to eat before heading into work. Today is Monday but it’s also day 5 of my working week. Tomorrow is my day off before I head back on Wednesday, so I have a lot to cram into one day. Until then I have 8 hours of work to get through and one tasty bowl of warm oats to eat before hand.

| BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS: PORRIDGE |  Did you know that in Chinese medicine every food that you eat has a medicinal property? It can make meal time a bit complicated if you start thinking about it too much but I generally keep things pretty simple. Like breakfast - who doesn’t love a big bowl of porridge, right? It’s both simple, delicious and according to Chinese medicine oats are slightly sweet and help to tonify the Stomach and Spleen organs. These are the main digestive organs and are in charge of nourishing the entire body as well as regulating your levels of internal damp. So if you feel damp in yourself - like you may be bloated, have foggy thoughts, excessive worry, nausea, oedema or are generally a bit phlegmy, it might be worth adding a few oats into your diet (unless gluten doesn’t work for you, because they’ll just make all that stuff worse for you and honestly, who needs that). Once I started eating a Chinese medicine diet and beginning my day with a fresh bowl of porridge I noticed an improvement in my energy levels, sustained fullness, mental clarity and a less puffy appearance. From a western perspective oats have the ability to lower cholesterol, reduce heart disease and even enhance the immune system. Also you can top your bowl with super delicious things like peanut butter, which makes everything amazing. 
Top tip: soak your oats overnight in water. This eases the digestive load, reduces physic acid (an indigestible outer acid of the grain) lowers acidity, begins the sprouting process (so your breakfast is more ‘alive’) and reduces cooking time! Baked oatmeal breakfast from the weekend - nice option if you've got the time:
Make up porridge with oats, chia, berries, milk and pop it in an oven dish, drizzle with peanut butter and bake at 180 for 20-30mins (until set but still soft and spoonable).
Can cut into slices and store leftovers to reheat for breakfasts or snacks throughout the week.

Heyo, guys! It was pretty day! Me and my family went to the other town for some shopping in Jumbo. We bought kitchen things and other stuffs. I already showed them in my story. 😁
I struggled with eating today, bc i had my lunch late and it was small. But then, when i got home, i got the other part of it. Also had bigger dinner and night snack. And guess what: I ate ALMONDS. Real almonds. 😱Nuts help when u have to eat more calories for small amount of time. So in the end of the day i reach my goal.🙌 But yeah, this was really challenging and i push myself to do it. 
Also my porridge today was the best i have ever made. I'm happy right now, but really bloated. 
Oh and i forgot. I had cream cheese on my toasts. A little bit, but i choose to have it 💪
I think that's for today. Tomorrow i have lots of things to do, also work in the Red Cross, so maybe won't be so active here. And i should go for little food shopping, if i have any time of course, bc I run out of snacks. The funny thing is that before 3-4 days me and my mom bought lots of things, but now they are all gone. 😂😂😂

(Trust me I’m not😂) Here is an awesome and healthy alternative🤗 Cake balls: cook 1/3 cup oat bran with your choice of protein powder and water, then microwave for 1.5 min. Throw in some mix-ins, I used chopped strawberries but could use nuts or chocolate chips. Then roll into balls, coat with cacao or cinnamon and air fry! And bam, oats with a crunch😛

I haven’t posted our Family Breakfast Bowls in a while, so here we go! 🍑Craving them cool to start another hot day. This batch is steel cut oats soaked overnight + chia pudding (simple RECIPE ⤵️) + 1 mango + 4 peaches divided + pumpkin seeds. I’m sure my kids will request some maple syrup drizzled on top but I love these with just the sweetness of the fruit 💛 .
. ✖️RECIPE Simple creamy chia pudding:
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut yogurt
1/2 cup plant based milk
1/4 cup chia seeds
Stir and let set at least 20 minutes. .

☀️ Sunny Sundays ☀️ The weather has been soo on and off lately but today the sun shone and to celebrate I ditched the normal banana in favour of my second favourite fruit - mango!
 I was in a supermarket with my boyfriend about a month ago and we were pressing all the mangos to see which one had the best ripeness, a lady then came up to us and told us that acctually smelling your mangos is a fsr better way of testing for ripeness! 🌼  Ever since iv been smelling mangos and if they have a strong, sweet smell, they are most likely ripe, aposed to the mangos that dont really have a smell and are likely not ripe yet 🌼 So if your out there, thankyou to the lady who shared her mango knowledge with us 😂

Happy Saturday & beginning of the weekend ✨
Bit of a dark & dull start to the day outside, but I’m starting the morning with a warm & colourful bowl of Kiwi & Grapefruit Porridge, topped with more kiwi, Grapefruit, Almonds & of course a PB lake 🌦🥝🍑🥜🧡
Perfect fuel for packing & an afternoon of travelling. I’m off back up to Scotland with my parents for a week get away to our favourite country; to the peace & quiet of nature with fresh air (& of course the home of Porridge 💁🏻‍♀️)
Hopefully we can get away from the stresses of life for a while & looming dates/deadlines for many decisions that we have to make when we come back. Just spend time together as a family, enjoy each other’s company, take care of each other & just enjoy the simple things in life again.

Do you love to travel? If so where is your favourite destination? Are you a more long distance traveller or do you prefer to stay & explore the beauty close to home? Or where is your dream place to visit in the world? 🌍
I’m lucky that I get to travel quite a bit with my parents & adventure to some cool places both far & wide. I love more local trips around Scotland & England, but also love going abroad. Aside from our family holidays I must say hands down my adventure to Australia last Summer for 3 weeks was truly a trip of a life time that I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to do & I sure will never forget it!
