Great advice I heard from a sea turtle this morning:
🐢 🐢 🐢 🐢 🐢
1. Swim with the current
2. Be a good navigator
3. Stay calm under pressure
4. Be well traveled
5. Think long term
6. Age gracefully
7. Spend time at the beach
Thank you to Anthony Bourdain for showing me to not be afraid of another places you aren’t familiar with. A place where you’ll find yourself in a community full of amazing people and food. The day before Anthony Bourdain died, I was recommending a place to Luis where the legendary food critic went. It’s over by a small fishing village over in Rosarito and the place looked absolutely heavenly. I just knew I had to go experience that. Then the next day, he committed suicide. Hearing that in the morning, that has hurt my heart so much. I grew up watching him and stayed up watching his TV shows as a kid. He’s a huge inspiration to why I love and appreciate food. In honor of his passing, Luis, Alexis, and I, went to the place where he visited and enjoyed himself. You will be dearly missed Anthony Bourdain, Rest In Peace. @anthonybourdain
I thought about Anthony Bourdain all day today. And as weird as it is to feel such connection, admiration and gratitude to a stranger, I can’t help it. Just as someone like #kurtcobain taught me about a world of music which in turn shaped me into who I am today, #anthonybourdain opened me up to a world of food and culture. Through his work he brought me outside of myself and closer to everyone else on the planet.
By coincidence @ashleylilla and I were in #bajacalifornia today and paid tribute to Anthony Bourdain by visiting his favorite food cart in #Ensenada . We talked to the owner’s son about all the ways that Bourdain showed his support to him and his mother’s business, having them entered into international culinary showcases in Singapore and elsewhere.
We also went to #Popotla where Bourdain said the best lobster in the area would be found. We talked to a bunch of vendors there, bought a kilo of live lobster from a fisherman and took it to a shoreside vendor who prepped and cooked it for us.
Without Anthony Bourdain I wouldn’t have the knowledge or courage to adventure outside of my bubble. And these experiences along with others have and will continue to change me and shape me as I make my way through life.
