Dropping off some jewelry at Smokey Hollow Farm today and was so happy to see these beauties! I stopped to say hello and a couple of the horses and ponies interrupted their breakfast to visit with me for some pats and scratches. I’m such a sucker for horses! Memories of riding camp as a girl. They’re doing barn tours this weekend where you’ll be able to meet Jake, the world’s tallest horse and his friend Little Bear, a miniature horse. Other weekends this season they will have horse and wagon rides. And don’t forget their beautiful Christmas trees! The Christmas Shop is all done up in a big rustic red barn, full of holiday decorations and gifts as well as handmade items like mittens, ornaments and of course Hygge Jewelry Lab pieces! I’ll have exclusive designs and colors available only here through December 24th. http://smokeyhollowfarm.com/ #letshygge#horses#ponies#potnettewi#christmastreefarm

I’m having a lot of anxiety about riding, and there’s been a lot of rain lately. The net result is that I haven’t ridden since moving barns in late August. I’m gearing up to try and get over it. Next week we will have the kiddos, and I want to allow 13yo Cody to ride, but feel like I should ride, and get a sense of where Raven’s mind is, before he mounts up. Ironically, I have less anxiety about his riding than mine, though I would rather have myself injured than him. Raven takes care of the little ones, and we will be teaching Cody some groundwork exercises prior to mounting up. But I’ve gotta ride first!!!
So the natural question is: why am I so scared? The footing isn’t 100% ideal but it is good enough. The arena was a relatively closed, safe environment and I will be pasture riding here. First, the space where she lives and after we’re comfortable there, out on the property. I’ve got to get over this, but days keep drifting by. I always want to and look for the nice days, but haven’t managed to mount up. .
I’m afraid of falling, though R has only spooked once under saddle that she jumped a few steps. I sat that, fine, and other rides were chill. We w/t only, I have cantered only once for the same set of fears-and a big #TB canter. But I’m scared!! And I definitely don’t want an audience, though that may be the way it goes down.
