In the late 1940s, Henri Matisse turned almost exclusively to cut paper as his primary medium, and scissors as his chief implement, introducing a radically new operation that came to be called a cut-out.
Martial Raysse exhibition part of the ongoing exhibition at Centre Pompidou Metz, France through July 22. The exhibition, titled 'L'Aventure de la Couleur' (The Adventure of Colour), tells the story of color in modern and contemporary art through a selection of flagship works from the Centre Pompidou’s collection.
Some of the surface design works from the exhibit at the Pompidou. These artists are credited with the new-new, the modern after Nouveau and has some of my very favourite artists like Matisse. Less decorative and more streamlined. Some beautiful ideas and some wonderful history. I just loved this. I’m feeling very inspired to do some new motifs, I’m hoping to be able to focus more on textiles at the moment. Just to create for the sake of creating. #textiledesign#pompidou#modernart#inspo#whatisaw
