Just in this chapter alone, so much is said. However, as it pertains to these two verses, much can be said of it as well.
Words like: #Confidence , #Reward , #Endurance#Promise , #Righteous , #ShrinkBack and #Pleasure pop out and are attention grabbers. They certainly grabbed my attention.
These two verses speak too many great things but also within its own context present a God that many may not like or even choose to ‘shrink back’ from. But I assure you, if we get past our aversion to the wording, we will see that many of our own life experiences have encounters and directions and even motivational warnings from them to endure, to not give up or give in, so that you could rejoice in the reward to come.
How many #sports enthusiasts are out there? How many #athletes compete year round? How about those who are part of an #academic#decathlon . You have #salesman who compete for prizes and bonuses seasonally. #Retail has it, #banking has. Again, the words in the scripture above speak true to life, but it has to do with the walk and race of faith in Christ.
All of the above compete and endurance even training is part of the readiness for competition. However there is a distinction. All of the examples above pertains to earthy things. The scriptures are referring to heavenly things. The things of the earth perish away even those rewards attained, but that which is from above is imperishable. That is what the walk and race of faith in Christ brings. An imperishable reward—to remain in the presence of the Eternal God forever. Free from #sin , #disease , #illness , #pain , #sorrow , #tears and #death
There is something to be done as in all things. For the imperishable reward it’s the [will of God] and that takes faith in Christ that refuses to quit, that continues to strengthen itself so that those who believe will endure to the end. But know that God takes ‘no pleasure’ in the one that shrinks back or turns away, as it is with coaches, boses, sales managers, etc…The one who endures and competes to win is the one the spoils go to. Even famous athlete @kingjames knows this. He can’t take it easy on and off the court. So it is with those in Christ.
Lesson 3: Happiness comes from accepting failure and working sincerely to overcome it.
In The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life, author Mark Manson talks about values that we are told to be inspired.
Manson differentiates between good and bad values thusly: “Good values are 1) reality-based, 2) socially constructive, and 3) immediate and controllable. Bad values are 1) superstitious, 2) socially destructive, and 3) not immediate or controllable.” Good values include “#honesty , #innovation , #vulnerability , standing up for oneself, standing up for others, #self -respect, #curiosity , #charity , #humility , #creativity .” Manson offers a list of four “shitty” values that are the cause of much of our misery: “pleasure, material success, always being right, and staying positive.” #insta#book#life#quotes#success#pleasure#positivity#values#markmanson#happy#happiness
