Getting Cameron off to sleep can be so hard at times. Tonight it took over one hour to get him to sleep, normally once he’s asleep he will sleep all night and most of the time he is a good sleeper but last night he was up for about 3 hours in the middle of the night. Today was a running day, but I woke up feeling tired all over. O woke up at 10 pm, 11 pm, 2 am, and 4 am with the twins getting up for the day at 6:15 am. I wasn’t sure if it was tired from lack of sleep or if I was possibly getting sick. I gave myself the day off. I didn’t get worse as the day went on, so maybe it was just exhaustion. ✨ 10 Months ✨ 
This boy is crazy. He’s super super silly. Thinks the most simple things are hysterical. He refuses to eat solids - and throws up if I try to get anything into his mouth 🤦🏼‍♀️ ...he stands all by himself. Claps. Says “dada, momma, uh oh, and what sounds like “ohhhh guuurl” 😂😂 He weighs 18 pounds and is almost 24 inches. Doesn’t sleep worth a crap - he sleeps in bed with us and if he isn’t basically inside of my body he isn’t happy. He likes to begin his day at 4:30am with lots of whining and screeching that usually wakes everyone else up - it’s fun. 
He loves Mr so much and actually reaches and cries for Zack - which is a big shift from Henree. 
He has the best smile - is nosey as hell - and can’t wait for Santa to come. Maybe he will bring him some melatonin - what?! Kidding. Kiiiidding. 
I feel like it’s gone by faster with each baby. We just love Wren so freaking much and can’t wait for what’s to come. ❤️ #milesstone #babymilestones #tenmonthsold #pleasesleep #imdying

Four Month Sleep Regression.

Oh man, this can be a really challenging time! My heartfelt sympathy for all you mamas struggling with this regression! Four Month olds are going through a lot of change, there sleep patterns are changing, their brains are developing at a rapid pace AND they are often learning to roll! All of these things can create huge disruptions to sleep and an overall cranky baby!
.
So how can you support your baby through this time. .
1. if you haven’t already, start a bedtime routine. This will help with getting your baby to fall asleep easier.
.
2. Practice rolling with them a lot during daytime hours so they can become good at there new skill quickly! .
3. Help them get more restful naps! If this means your baby needs to nap in a carrier or stroller to get a good nap then do it! Day time sleep helps your baby settle better at night time!
.
4. Watch awake times so your baby isn’t getting overtired! .
5. Start working on some sleep skills!
.

EARLY RISER. This is not a new topic for us at Up All Hours. I went from having a child who didn’t sleep much to having a child who sleeps great but likes to wake at the crack of dawn! How sweet is this baby girl 💕 Both her parents did a fantastic job of helping her learn sleep skills and in the process gained a lot of knowledge to handle sleep issues down the road, such a pleasure sharing on the journey with them.

“On top of being an extremely fussy newborn, our little babe would only nap in her manual bouncer (so anytime she would nap I felt like a prisoner having to be right beside her the entire time bouncing her..), would only fall asleep at night by nursing her to sleep, and I would have no idea how to handle her erratic night wakings (sometimes nursing her back worked, sometimes it didn’t and we’d be up starting the day at 4 am..). Needless to say I was exhausted. I was exhausted from taking care of her when she was awake and being on-call ready to go at any moment when she was asleep.

I didn’t think I would be one of those people needing a sleep coach, but alas, once our little girl came along I was completely stumped and couldn’t believe how little I knew about babies and their sleep. I had no idea where to begin, and all the different sleep books and PDFs were just all SO overwhelming. I researched various sleep coaches but none of them seemed like the right fit until I found Amanda. I attended one of her sleep seminars to meet her in person. Not only did she give off a great first impression, but she was also a registered nurse and a lactation consultant, HUGE bonus!

Our experience with her was incredible! She created a sleep plan for us that we were very comfortable with and was very quick to respond with our questions and tweak our plan as needed. Within our time working together, Our baby made huge leaps and learned how to sleep on her own, nap without a bouncer, and she has started to sleep longer and predictable stretches at night! My husband and I were so shocked with the results and couldn’t believe that we could get to this place where we weren’t anxious about our baby’s sleep. By no means is every nap/night perfect, but Amanda has given us the tools to know how to handle those one-off nap/night struggles with confidence. I'm not sure there is a worse feeling than being sleep deprived.  You loose motivation for anything, loose confidence in yourself and your own judgement and you may feel like everything is going wrong and the world is against you at times.  But there are a few simple daily steps to try and implement into your day when you feel like you are stuck in a sleep deprivation rut.
1) Healthy eating... it can be easy to fall into the chocolate/coffee/fast food habit when you have a little bub and are feeling sleep deprived but remember these foods are only a quick fix.  Wholegrain's, protein and increasing  you vegetable intake will have you feeling better in no time.
2) Try going to bed at the same time every-night and getting up at the same time every morning.  Just small routines such as these implemented into your day can get your brain and body back in sync, and you will start to feel hungry again at the right times (so less snacking yay!) 3) Get outside - even if it is just a walk to the end of the driveway to collect your mail with bub in your arms.  Show her the trees and the world as you walk past and breath in some lovely fresh air and feel that warm sun on your skin.  Being outdoors works wonders for resetting the circadian rhythm and it could be just the thing to kick your sleep deprivation days to the kerb too!

Nora woke up crying 6 times before midnight last night! Then up at 5. We retreated to bed together, on the floor because I'm worried she'll roll off & my back is spasming with all the lifting.

Her sleep has been way off lately with teeth, stage 5, maybe 6 clinging & who knows what baby dramas she's going through🤷🏼‍♀️ Words of encouragement are appreciated as I dream of when she used to sleep through & consider drinking caffeine again 😴

Any other mamas practice this at the end of the day when you're running out of steam, low on patience and just plain tired?! .

Food Droppers and Mess Makers--- and how this effects sleep!

Babies love to drop their lunch on the floor and watch you pick it up. Add in some toys, their cup, a soother and they have a really fun game going! Babies will often start to do this around the 6-8 month age range is because they are learning about object permanence.

Object permanence is yet another skill that throws mom through a loop. Their brain is developing the ability to determine that objects still exist when they are out of sight. This also may have an effect on sleep because they can understand when you leave a room that you still exist and are coming back. Every developmental milestone relates to sleep, my friends!

How can we help with these learning curves? If you have a messy baby, the simple answer is to put down a cheap shower curtain on the floor so you can shake it off after a meal. I learned this the hard way!

The other answer is to play games with your baby to help them master this skill! Put toys in shoe boxes and help them find it. Cover a toy with a blanket and help baby find it. Play lots of peek-a-boo with your baby so that it shows them that mommy always comes back (even after a nap!).
