Sure I'm a souless demon but dammit I have dreams and goals just like normal people, although most of those dreams revolve around amusing myself at the expense of others and this is one of those goals.... I love the colours of the farmers market. I was able to source all these ingredients (sans the avocado) from my garden or by taking a trip to the local market! How could would our bodies feel if we nourish it from the inside? Instead of reaching for quick feels ..reach for eats that make you feel good for hours, days and years after eating it continuously! You truly are what you eat..your skin ..hair..organs all need good food and exercise to thrive. ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ…๐ŸŽ.
What did you eat today? I started my day with a kale smoothie with more kale and parsley than usual! My girls are at school so I made it just for me! ๐Ÿ˜‹.

Itโ€™s very hard for me to ever follow a recipe exactly. If anything, they can always be major sources of inspiration. For example, today I decided to make cauliflower steaks after being inspired by the most recent recipe booklet I got from @purplecarrotxo. I kind of took my own path but stuck to the core principles of the recipe. The major difference, subbed in more whole food ingredients and added a few of my favorite spices. Feel free to take the following recipe to inspire your own meal or feel free to find the original recipe on the Purple Carrot website. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ I paired my cauliflower steaks with some brown rice, sautรฉed spinach, asparagus, and butter beans (cooked with some garlic powder and red pepper flakes). Topped this all off with a drizzle of my favorite tahini. โค๏ธ

Cauliflower Steaks
1 head of cauliflower, 1 inch of stem removed and cut into 1 inch slices
3 tbsp tahini
2 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
3-4 tbsp water 
Fresh cracked pepper๐ŸŒฑ

Set oven to broil on high. Prepare glaze for cauliflower by combining tahini, soy sauce, garlic, paprika and water. Mixture should be thick enough to cover the back of a spoon. If too thick add an additional tbsp water. Using a spoon or brush, cover cauliflower slices with sauce in both sides. Set pieces on a lined baking sheet and top with a few cracks of black pepper. Place baking tray in the oven and allow to cook for 20 minutes (do not open oven during this cooking time). Once done, remove from oven and allow to cook for 5 minutes before serving (though this waiting part was really tough for me). ๐Ÿคค

Trying to get my pasta game strong before winter comes and hibernation starts! For this recipe, I used @eatbanza chickpea pasta, itโ€™s high in fibre and protein and is gluten free for those of you that must adhere to a gluten free diet! โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €
For the sauce I sautรฉed some onion and garlic together. To that I added a diced tomato, nutritional yeast, red chilli flakes, Italian seasoning, s+p and a little bit of vegetable stock and let that cook down. I added zucchini and spinach to the mix, added my pasta and topped it with some fresh basil! 
Tip: donโ€™t rinse your pasta! And save some cooking liquid to add to sauces, it helps to make the sauce stick better to the pasta!!

I work at a yoga studio and last night I met Jim. Jim is a sweet man in his 70s devoting his life to climate change. He works lobbying the government to begin subsidizing clean energy and penalizing fossil fuels and co2 emissions. He invited me to some of the groups he meets in and said "Don't feel obligated to go, I know you're probably too busy." That struck me because, honestly, I am but I'll still go. But I realized everyone I try talking to seems too busy to care. Sometimes we feel like everything is moving too fast to slow down and care about something, learn about something, think thoughtfully about something. Jim and I mentioned how destructive that is in this new condition we as humans have created for ourselves.
๐ŸŒ I told him being #vegan is one of the things I do to fight climate change because animal agriculture is the most polluting industry on this planet. Raising animals and producing dairy emits more greenhouse gases (50%+) than all of the transportation on the planet combined (13%).
๐ŸŒ By 2050, scientists estimate that the oceans will be fishless, as well as other disastrous things. If you think, "we need to fish sustainably" or "oh no, I won't be able to eat fish," think bigger. Animals, fish, plants, clean water, healthy soil, clean air is all essential for an ecosystem. We need to leave nature be. Stop raising animals for food. But most importantly, stop purchasing these products that are so blatantly destructive. Take a stand! This is your home. OUR home. ๐Ÿ’š
