The sweetest holiday pins. They are the cutest stocking stuffers, and make the most darling lapel and collar pins. Which one is your favorite? Today, my favorite one is my Holly Jolly pin, which is why it's front and center.
I will be bringing these Limited Edition pins with me this weekend in Seattle at my two last in-person shows of the year! Visit hemleva.com/events for more details. ☃️🍃 #hemleva
Guess who is a pround plant mommy now...🌱
Yass me- *pretty obvious answer 😂
Even if it is such a simple thing like adoptong this adorable plant (that I named Guacamole 😎) for some reason it makes me so excited! Just seeing how it grows bigger leaf by leaf just makes me appretiate life more and be more mindful about those little miracles that happen every day around us and for most of us remain unnoticed... I think of as a new form of meditation ✨
Yesterday I started unpacking things from the archives to take with me to the @butterfactoryartscentre Along with newer work. The process was overwhelming! I've got all sorts of magical things to bring. Things that I cherished too much to sell at the time of making them. Other things like lovable planters that have minor flaws. I'll be selling amazing stoneware bead sets, driftwood spoons, bells, plant pots, inscence holders, and a whole lot of dishes and little bowls. There'll be a lot of things at bargain prices too because I'm clearing the decks to start a fresh year of making. So come along! 10-4 this Saturday in Cooroy at the Butter Factory Art Centre 💓 I'll be in the naughty corner with @coastalstudionoosa
Say hello to my new favourite cushion! And at the same time I am saying goodbye to this bedroom till the end of the year 👋🏼 as I am off to Korea to see my family.
My green babies are left with Tim and Chiara, a water scientist and an agriculture major respectively, who probably did NOT need my very detailed (too detailed for someone 🙄😂) day to day care calendar (See my story today). So I’m going to switch off for a bit... not.
I have so many progress photos I still have not posted!! Be prepared for mass posting ⚡️
#showusyourgorman (btw who doesn’t love their fabulous fabrics 🧡)
My process is changing. Before when I would paint I was rushed. I had a painting and I needed to get it out and put it out into the world. These days I’m working with significantly smaller canvases, my process has slowed down and I need to live with the painting. I need to experience it and let it tell me what needs to happen next. ♾
So what do plants have to do with this? They ground me, slow my energy, allow me to focus on the process instead of rushing through it. I’m also incredibly inspired by the soft winter light and the shadows it casts on my work. Art on art, often inspiring me with new lines and shadows to be added to the piece.
Small piece I did for the Urban Lotus Project auction this Friday! All proceeds will go towards the organization whose “mission is to serve and empower at-risk and underserved youth and young adults through trauma-informed yoga and meditation practices.” If you have the chance to stop by and support a great cause, I know it would be hugely appreciated ❤️ Swipe for more info 👉🏼
When your succulents make you want to go scuba diving🌵🐠 .
The corner of my room officially has a funky desert//aquarium//boho vibe with all the crazy colors (and the occasional thrifted find). Perfectly positioned across from my side of the bed, (and right where the light streams in) I get to wake up to all this plant magic every morning ✌🏼✨
Art gave me an appreciation for gardening, also growing weed, but mostly art 😅 what I love most about making these pieces is that over time the plants naturally grow into and out making it look super wild!! ~@zznelsonzz don’t forget anyone that tags us in a plant selfie this week will be entered into the flower giveaway🎉👨🏿🌾🎉 drawing names Sunday 🎶; Lows & Highs by @flutebae
As one of my go-to plant/photography/design/and all-around inspirational IG friend @hiltoncarter said yesterday, its time to stop watering your succulents (cacti are succulents)! If you live in a climate that doesn’t experience a noticeable winter, you can likely disregard 😊#jealoustho
During spring and summer months, I water my succulents when they are bone dry — this tends to be once a month, sometimes even longer since my succs are all indoors. Watering succulents (and all houseplants) should reflect what they experience in their natural habitat (the desert), while keeping in mind the climate your home offers. They go long periods of time without rain and then experience a heavy downfall. I gave my succulents a good watering yesterday with a few pumps of succulent fertilizer mixed in the water, and that’s the last they’ll see for a few months.
I will keep a close eye on them during the winter months, checking for pests that prefer cool and dry temps (not that I dont have pests all other times of year 😂🙄). Will water again likely in February or March!
