Big decisions have been made here at the OHM headquarters. I’ve lost just over 6 lbs since my athleticism-related cut began but I’ve decided I want to do an official physique show/shoot in late May. So, I’m going to transition to a recomp and eat at maintenance until early/mid Jan before I begin a 16-week prep.
I’m taking two grad computer science classes this quarter and my workload is the largest it’s been so far in grad school. This week was my busiest so far and I fell off the IF wagon these past two days but I had a two hour window today. I ate this (whole) acclaimed loaf and butter with some almond butter (did not eat all of the maple butter, haha), and then had some grapes at a meeting - this loaf has been getting a lot of attention in the vegan community and I wanted to see what the hype was about. 10/10 loaf.
This weekend, I’m going to Yosemite to do Half Dome! I’ll report back on Sunday night with cool landscape/food photos. I’m bringing 9000 kcal of fuel along with me; I’m anticipating to do 12+ hours of hiking (24+ miles) with over 10,000 ft of elevation gain.

Dry Cough? Try Golden Milk (aka Turmeric Milk) Ingredients:
• 2 cups unsweetened nut milk*
• 2” piece of fresh turmeric root( peeled & thinly sliced) or 1 tsp turmeric power
• 1” piece of grated fresh ginger or 1/2 tsp of ginger powder
• 1 tsp of cinnamon powder
• 1 pinch of sea salt
• 1 Tbsp of honey
• 1 pinch of ground cloves or 2-3 cardamom pods (optional/if you have it/skip it if you don’t!/nbd)
• 1 Tbsp coconut oil (optional)
* I use nut milk not only because I’m plant based but primarily because when dealing with colds/ prone to congestion it’s best stay away from diary as it can contribute to the production of Phelm and Mucus.
Place all ingredients (save coconut milk for the end) in a small pot and bring to a simmer on medium to low heat. I like to let this cook slow, especially when using the fresh turmeric. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes or until it becomes more colourful and fragrant. Whisk in coconut milk, blending all ingredients together. Pour in your fav mug and enjoy. Strain through a fine strainer if you fancy.
Today I made this because I have a dry throat/ cough and can’t seem to get any relief. The consistency of the milk, honey and aide in calming due to the sweet tastes. The various spices lend to aid the inflammation. The key ingredients are loaded with antioxidants. Golden Milk may also: help reduce joint pain, inflammation/ improve memory, brain function and mood/ improve digestion/ boost immune system: contribute to stronger bones.
I love making this before bed during stressful times to help calm my body and mind. Makes for an easier, more restful sleep.
