Hello Friday 👋🏽 another grey chilly day calls for another bowl of porridge 🥣 I’ve been having this breakfast pretty much everyday lately ~ it’s so comforting on a cold morning 😌 for me, one of the best things about porridge is that it works as a great carrier for other things such as flaxmeal, chia seeds and walnuts (omegas), berries and cacao (antioxidants), bananas (potassium for you athletes out there!), plant milk (vitamin d, calcium and b vits including b12), turmeric and ginger (anti-inflammatory)and, of course, peanut butter (because what is porridge without PB?) 👍🏽 Talking of PB, Ive been obsessed with this cinnamon raisin one I found (by @bionaorganic ) ~ if you’re into cinnamon or raisins definitely give it a go 😛
"You can have results or excuses. Not both." The kids were on a two hour delay so I had wrap my workouts around getting them off to school. I got in an easy 6 early then (after getting kids to school) hit the gym for strength training. Which included mountain climbers and burpees! I’m starting to get back in the groove. Trying to keep my fitness up until next training season begins in a few weeks. I’m off to school for my last day of AEW so no time for a proper selfie - thanks Moxie for making this picture interesting 🐶 #runningmama#riseandgrind#fitnessfriday
"Ask, and it shall be given you" - I asked for some sunshine and there it was ☀️ I went for a run after work in the sunset and 10 K just flew by 🏃🏼♀️ It was my fastest 10 K since my foot started acting up in July, and while it was still not fast by any means, it felt good 😊
I am planning on getting in even more running this weekend, but mostly I will chill 😅 Do you have any big plans for the weekend?
Wedding Soup with White Bean Balls and Kale, recipe from @thugkitchen . Although it’s only mid November, we got our first snow of the season, making today a great day for this soup. The combination of the bean balls and the soup works really well, especially on a cold, winter day, even if it is only November! I managed to get a run in before making dinner, and then had to go back out to shovel the driveway. I usually only include food pics but today I threw in a picture I took during my run (I love the look of the leaves with the snow) and another from when I went out to do the driveway.
Next Race 👉 @philly_marathon Half Marathon in Philadelphia, PA this Saturday. I’ll be taking over the @floridatrackclub account this Friday and Saturday sharing everything from pre to post race.
One year ago, I ran my 2nd half marathon at Tom Walker Memorial, hosted by Florida Track Club, to my surprise finishing under my goal time of 1hr45min after encountering inflammation issues during training.
I’ve since joined Florida Track Club and @team_ftc and despite encountering similar issues once again over the summer, this time around I took action to solve the issue through strength and mobility training thanks to Coach Enoch and @requestpt. .
You can (and should) prepare for anything during training, but no matter what you can’t exactly predict what comes race day. In Philly, it may be freezing ☃️and I don’t know how I’ll adapt as I rarely run in those temps here in FL.
Nevertheless, I am bound to do what I can and most importantly have a great time in the presence of others who share a passion in this sport and for the cause or @aacr_foundation cancer research - it’s why I particularly chose Philly of all places.
Thanks to Florida Track Club 🍊for making the travel to this race possible through a race scholarship. Can’t wait to visit and run in this historic city for the first time!
Running can be hard on ‘the gear’
But these aren’t bona fide ‘running injuries’. These are just “for fun”. I think the main and less-than-obvious thing that prevents injury (for me) is a whole-food plant-based diet 🌱 My recovery time was cut in half when I got the nonsense off my plate.
EAT TO RUN, NOT RUN TO EAT
I wrote this week’s @newbalance_rdu newbalance_rdu blog on my personal top 5 injury prevention thingies. Check it out (if you like) at: www.runnerscott.com ...Moreover, if you’re in the area, we’re having a free plantbased Thanksgiving at the Raleigh New Balance store this Sat Nov 17 at 10:30 am along with an injury prevention clinic for runners. It will be laid back and open to the public. Speakers include myself and chiropractor Dr. Mackenzie Smith of @trianglecrc ... Clinic location- New, Balance, 6204 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh NC 27612 #newbalancerdu#runninginjury#trailrunner
Success doesn't come from what you do occasionally, but what you do consistently ❤️
There are days when I don't want to do it, but I do it anyway. I know if I don't, I'll make an excise tomorrow! Anyone else?
Hello running endorphins! I’m going to need these today. After two full days in school for AEW, the kids have a snow day today ❄️! These 5 miles of me time this morning was so necessary. I’ll be back at school tomorrow for my last visit in the classroom! I’ve been really productive this morning since I was up and out early! Submitted for several jobs 📸 🎥 🎬 and now I’m ready to hit mom mode 💯. Thankful for this running high that’s setting the positive mood for today! #thankfulthursday#slayyourday#runhappy#runlikeamother
Trying to look like my hero, Derek @simnettnutrition

‘The longer and farther I ran, the more I realised that what I was often chasing was a state of mind - a place where worries that seemed monumental melted away, where the beauty and timelessness of the universe, of the present moment, came into sharp focus...’ 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 a perfect explanation of my running and yoga experience...the only two activities I’ve found to truly connect with myself, my breathe and nature. This is why we run 🏃🏼♀️
