How do you eat so healthy?” I get asked these questions all.the.time🤦🏼‍♀️ Our bodies are way more sensitive to and in tune to nutrition and the foods we are feeding ourselves than people think. Dopamine levels literally change based on what you eat👉🏼 When you eat mostly high sugar/fattening/processed foods 🥓🍕🧀🍔🍭🍩 the pleasure center in your brain starts to function differently- it takes MORE of this kind of food to satisfy your body. This way of eating becomes addicting because your body begins to crave more and more processed/high fat foods to create a sense of pleasure. This is why some people consider obesity to be a “mental disorder.” I’ve really learned to appreciate and love the taste of plant based foods🌱 and never feel like I’m missing out or craving meat dairy or highly processed animal products. Smoky Heirloom Tomato salad. I tossed the tomatoes in wood smoked olive oil from @crazy4evoo , a little smoked paprika and smoked salt. I also minced a bit of garlic and added basil. I added a bit of vegan butter to the bread and grilled it. .

Truvani Berry Bliss Balls
Makes 10-12

Ingredients:
½ cup almonds
½ cup macadamia nuts
2 tablespoons coconut flakes
5 medjool dates
⅓ cup raspberries
1 scoop Truvani Chocolate Protein Powder
1 tablespoon maple syrup
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Place all of the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until combined, scraping the sides as needed. 
Roll into balls and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 20 minutes.

FitFuel Fans! Coconut Cookie is making another come back but this time in a different form!! Most of you that know me know I was the Founder and Chief Foodie Officer of FitFuel Bars.  Funny I still have the hand-written original bar recipe and I literally keep it in my safe! Nope still not sharing that secret sauce recipe:) If you are familiar with the bars you may also know that I could no longer compete in the market and still keep my high sourcing ingredient standards. If you love the FitFuel bars as much as I do you may remember the flavor that had an actual cult like following “Coconut Cookie”. Here is a secret...when I came up with the FitFuel bars I used Arbonne protein powder for years in my manufacturing. It was the original ingredient. Why? It tastes amazing, all organic, gluten free, cruelty free and vegan. So going back to my roots and sharing my truth also means I am sharing lots of things you may have not known about how I got started and what tools I used to get my businesses off the ground. Well I was actually an Arbonne rep solely so I could get a better discount on the product for my bars. I developed this “Coconut Cookie” shake recipe that tastes pretty damn close to the original coconut cookie bar! This lunch took about 10 minutes to throw together and tastes delicious🤤 bonus= the pasta, made from edamame beans, (@explorecuisine) has 24g of protein per serving & even the broccoli and peas pack their own protein. Deets:: I put some mixed greens on bottom, mixed 1/4 cup vegan kale cashew pesto from @traderjoes into the pasta, added the broccoli, peas, and mushrooms I sautéed in evo then added black sesame seeds and red pepper chili flakes for a little kick💥 #inthekitchn #plantbasedprotein #plantbasedpasta #edamamepasta #eatyourveggies #thedancingvegan

Who needs potato chips when chickpeas exist? Oven roasted chickpeas are so stinking yummy and crunchy and EASY TO MAKE. These are another super versatile snack that makes eating healthy unprocessed, plastic free foods so doable. I chose to make sea-salt cracked pepper roasted chickpeas, but the possibilities are endless. These are great on their own or as a crunchy addition to a salad. To make: Soak chickpeas over night, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees, dry chickpeas with a towel (the dryer the better!), coat with olive oil or lemon juice for less fat, then pop them in the oven for 45 minutes! Once they are roasted, top with your seasoning of choice! Hope you guys enjoy! .

When we received our free bag of #GORPReadyMix from @gorpbar & @socialnature 🌱we couldn’t wait to make the cocoa, hemp & almond #GORP plant protein energy bars! Man are these good! We followed the directions on the back with a few of our own touches. Natural peanut butter, organic honey, molasses, coconut oil and (not shown here) 1/2 cup of homemade date jam (basically, puréed dried dates & prunes). Heat the wet ingredients. Mix. Spread. Chill. Cut. Enjoy! Looking forward to trying the other flavours! Super tasty!!! Give them a try if you see them in your local grocer. .

My review: good, but probably wouldn't buy again.  I think this product would be great for people transitioning to a plant based diet, but it does have a little oil and sugar in the ingredients, so not my thing. I wanted to support my local shops and give it a try.

I put it on pasta with spinach, I think it would be good in a wrap with fresh veggies.

First time cooking and tasting tempeh. Not bad at all.

Swipe ➡️ I decided to marinate mine for 30 min with simple ingredients: 1/4 cup soy sauce (salt free if possible), 4 cloves  minced garlic, a dash of agave, dash of nutritional yeast,  and a dash of cayenne. 
Medium to low heat and cook for 5 min or until browned. 
Use any greens as the base. I used baby spring mix. 
Add/remove contents to your liking.
-Tomatoes
-Olives
-Spicy Avocado Hummus
-Broccoli Sprouts

Seems like it’s not much? Oh but it is... tempeh is packed with high protein. (Indonesian Fermented Soy Beans)

Seitan Spicy Avocado Chalupa.
First time working with seitan. Plant based high in protein, and an alternative to beef or chicken pieces. You can get it from any health food store with a vegan section. 〰️Serves 2-3 -2 cloves of minced garlic
-1 medium white onion minced
-1 tbsp of coconut oil on pan with medium to low heat. You don’t want the fire strong as it WILL over cook your garlic and it’ll give a bitter taste.
Sauté the two ingredients with no added spices or salt until the very end.

Steps as followed:
-1 cup of mushrooms (wait for it to shrink) then add
-2 to 3 cups of spinach (until it’s welted— five or a few min to cook) then add
-1 tsp of ground cumin -Pinch of salt and pepper
-1 bag (8 oz) of seitan (placed last since its been precooked, just need to be warmed up). -Toast pita bread

Assemble cold ingredients:
-1 cup cherry tomatoes
-1/2 cup broccoli sprouts
-1 tbsp of spicy avocado hummus

Spicy avocado🥑 hummus:
-1 can chickpea
-1 avocado
-1 jalapeño (seeds removed- optional)
-1/4 cup cilantro (I used dried basil since I didn’t have any on hand)
-1 tsp cumin
-1/2 tsp salt & pepper
-1 tbsp lime juice
-2 tbsp olive oil

Banana Oatmeal Pancake
2 servings but double it up it’ll be 4 servings. -1 or 2 medium ripe banana(s)
-1/4 or 2/4 cup of oats
-1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
-1 heaping tsp of ground flax

The bananas and oats depends on the texture you want. More oats is going to give you a thicker and a little dry consistency. Less oats is more of a wet consistency. If you do equal parts it’ll be balanced. -1 tbsp of coconut oil over medium low heat.
