My favorite pre-vegan pizza was margherita, and I honestly thought I'd never be able to have it again. But THEN I found @miyokos_kitchen Italian smoked mozzarella and all that changed 🙌 Gluten free crust, homemade pizza sauce, that nice & melty cheese, basil, tomato. Finish it off with some nooch and crushed red pepper flakes and you're set! Trust me, you won't regret this 😍
Welcome to 1K of you 👋. Figured I’d reintroduce myself with 5 fun facts about me.
1. 👉I’m Cedric, 23 years old and have lived my whole life in Florida. I dream of living somewhere in the northeast US.
2. 👉I grew up playing basketball and switched to running 5 years ago, never competed, and recently joined @teamftc. My future goal is to qualify for Boston Marathon.
3. 👉I graduated with a bachelor’s in cell & molecular biology last year and now working in lab research as a nutritional analysis chemistry technician. I am also a student completing prerequisites for a post-bac dietetics program at the University of Florida 🐊, from which I will earn a 2nd degree and be able to apply to a master’s/internship program to become a registered dietitian.
4. 👉I’d like to perform research, blog/write and help others understand nutrition with a focus on plant-based, running and gut health. I experienced digestive issues in the past, but found improvement through plant-based vegan eating since 2016 🌱.
5. 👉Outside of food and running, I enjoy music and traveling. I tolerate a wide variety of music varieties and it’s hard to choose a fave. I really appreciate natural singers like Sia and Sam Smith that don’t care for the spotlight. I’ve probably traveled much more often to other countries than to other states and am fluent in French with dual citizenship 🇺🇸🇫🇷.

Quickly stirred up some leftover rice (yes I know, how convenient) and vegetables. 💡well, here’s a tip: if you ever have left over chinese food, whether it’s rice or vegetables (or meat if you’re not vegan :/), just throw them all in a pan with some fresh veggies and stir them around for 5-10 minutes. That way, you won’t need to buy extra flavouring to get that distinct ‘Chinese’ taste. There you go, super easy way to make a delicious and nutritious meal.
I love this idea :) ..... it’s hard sometimes to entirely rely on buying and prepping fresh food when juggling a full time job, a family and training, but I am always working hard to reduce our reliance as a family on overly processed and ready made foods ... the weekends are a great time to relax and enjoy cooking new things and experimenting with new plant based meals. Over the weekend I spent 2 amazing days scuba diving. This was the first time I was away since I started #fuelforfatloss . I knew balancing my macros would be hard. I wouldn't be in my controled kitchen or have access to vegan proteins. So I tried to prepare by bringing precooked proteins and snacks. The thing I wasn't prepared for was how hungry I would be after diving. ⠀
I was starving & the food I brought wasn't enough. Most of the vegan options I had was rice, bread and less veggies than I would have liked. During the last 5 weeks I hadn't eaten bread and grains. I haven't missed them & realized they aren't filling. ⠀
Being hungry & unsaitiated, I indulged & over ate. My blood sugar had dropped so much that I couldn't stop eating. I never felt full & by the time I did it was hours later. By then I was stuffed & couldn't move. ⠀
I always had a healthy appetite. When I was a kid, I always got a lot praise for it. As a result I have always eaten huge portions, & thought I had a big appetite, its a good thing. Now I found out I don't need such big portions & have missed all these signals of what my body really needs. ⠀
Today I am more present when I eat but it takes time to break & develop new habits. I felt like I was outside my body watching myself eat. This new me in awe of how the old me devoured food. I could see but couldn't stop. ⠀
Change happens slowly over time. The most important thing is awareness. Moving forward with this knowledge is so significant. One trip at a time I will figure it out. Maybe I will have to increase my travel to really get the hang of it. 😆⠀
