Washing may take some extra time out of my day, but using the fruit and veg wash not only gets the germies off, but extends the life of the fruit significantly. 🍇 
Instead of tossin moldy raspberries after three days, we now get a week outta them! Blueberries, blackberries, they all last longer and I don’t have to worry about pesticides, herbicides, sneezy-man-at-the-store-icides 🤣 🍓

Do you write down daily affirmations?
There is something magical that happens when we write. We are able to access a part of our consciousness which usually is not able to be heard. It is that small, still voice inside of us that have been here all along, we just rarely take the time to ask it questions and listen to the answers. I love how peaceful and accomplished I feel after writing my affirmations. Affirmations always have a way of making me feel more present. A lot of times, I will go back to the previous day’s entry and have more clarity around my feelings.

Harvesting mangold almost everyday since I came back home 🌿 Those dark green leaves are exploding with nutrients and minerals ✨ Google it, it’s true 🙌🏻 I made stew with cabbages and mangold and #sheese cheddar cheese and also a lentil soup with “meat” leftovers from grill party and added mangold too. For the Sauce
1 C Cashews
1/2 C pine nuts 
1 C water
3/4 C coconut milk
1/4 C nutritional yeast
1 clove garlic peeled and finely chopped
1TBSP lemon juice
Salt to taste (be generous with it)
Soak nuts for 2 plus hours. Rinse and drain. Add to high powered blender with fresh water. Add nutritional yeast, lemon juice. Brown garlic on stove over med low heat. Add to blender. Add salt. Blend until smooth. Pour into sauce pan. Add coconut milk. Heat over med low for 5-7 min. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Toss with pasta and broccoli if desired.

Researchers found that people who ate a low-carb diet (less than 40% of calories from carbs) and those who ate high-carb (more than 70% of calories) were more likely to die during the study than those with a moderate carb intake.

🌱 They also found that low-carb eaters who swapped carbs for fatty meats had a higher mortality risk. But those who traded carbs for plant-based proteins and fats had lower mortality risks.

🤔 The findings weren’t surprising to me, based on the overall body of nutrition research, and my experience with clients.

🍠 For most high performance people, I don’t typically recommend going much below 40% of calories from carbs. Eating foods like sweet potato, quinoa, fruit, and pulses exposes your body to a much broader spectrum of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and prebiotics. And, by not overconsuming these whole foods portion wise, you are still able to achieve or maintain leanness.

💪 In my practice I also find that high performance folks who follow moderate carb diets are able to reduce body fat, while seeing marked improvements in cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc. That’s in addition to more everyday energy, better mood, sleep, performance, recovery, and excellent digestive health. I don’t consistently see this with very low carb plans.

We had a BBQ to attend yesterday and I wanted to bring something simple, refreshing and delicious!  Bam, watermelon, cherries and mint. 
A couple years ago my kids asked me how come we’ve never had a watermelon seed spitting contest?  I had to think about that for a moment and then it hit me, we only have seedless watermelon... duh!  So now I always try to pair watermelon with cherries, just in case we need to bring a bit of old time fun to a picnic.  Enjoy!

I just want to make it clear for you, if you think that animal protein will help you achieve your optimal health, you are quite wrong 💚

Where did the protein came from? The cow ate plants which gave her that minerals and proteins! So if you want to gain more muscle and get stronger! Eat more plants! For some people it will not make sense since many of us grew up on the thinking that meat will make us strong and when we stop consuming it we get weak! No! You get weak because you are not eating enough plants! You are not getting enough minerals!!! If you become vegan but you still eat industrial processed food don’t be surprised when you don’t feel strong and full of energy as you thought you would be!

Today’s animal farming practices are so distantly remote from the circle of life. I thought I knew what was going on, but to actually see it was heart breaking 💔😢.

As much as probably everyone loves being in clean and neat environments, not as many of us love and enjoy the cleaning part (at least I don’t 😅). Well this book is a game-changer. Thinking of your house as a reflection of your mind space makes you care deeply more about how “you treat it” and every act becomes an act of love, even chores and cleaning.
While it might sound crazy at first, it actually works. .

Tofu scramble with @gardein chickn strips, broccoli and @daiyafoods cheese.

Tofu scramble spices are:
Cummin, paprika, curry powder and sea salt. Of course I Added nitritional yeast.

Cook scramble until your liking (I like slightly brown) then add the brocolli and chickn strips, mix it all up, add the Daiya, cover and chow down when ready! 👊👊🌱🌿 #vegantrainer

I’ve had a few closing chapters in my life w finishing grad school and physical therapy last week. I’d usually get into a space of frantic *what do I do now I need to be productive* anxiety, but I’m just letting my life flow this week. Thinking I’ll write a blog post, get creative w new recipes in the kitchen, try new workouts, watch bachelor in paradise.... and get back to a morning routine.

As @thatguybamn says, “when you start off right, you end up right!” so I’m startin this morning off w a glass of ACV water as part of my morning routine! ACV helps reset your body’s pH to more alkaline, which helps w digestion and minimizes inflammation. It’s week 3 of Whole 30 and my body feels so damn good 🙌🏼

I wake up early so that I can have time to feed my mind, body & soul all that it needs to function in the day. I first like to pray, giving thanks for being alive and healthy. Have you noticed how little kids show their emotions, ask for the things they want, and just show up as they are. They don't hold anything back or try to hide anything. The world can make us fearful of asking for things, or ashamed to have some of the desires in our hearts, it puts us in a place of scarcity instead of abundance. It makes us take out our emotions in destructive ways instead of just feeling them. I'm constantly trying to remind myself that my Father is the King in the universe. His love is placed on me, not based on me. And, He already knows every desire of my heart. Those desires are there for a reason. Will I ask? Will I listen to the answer I get? There's nothing quite like a good SNACK! 😋

For this week's 🌿 MEATLESS MONDAY 🌿 we wanted to share one of our favourite healthy and easy snacks just in time for back-to-school. 📚🎒 If it’s not crunchy and a little salty, then we search high and low until we find something more satisfying. 😋 Well, search no more - these roasted chickpeas are just delicious! My kids, who love things plain, finished off both testing batches before Adam could even give them a try. 👅

An amazing source of fibre, protein and flavour - feel free to use different seasonings and mix up the flavour combinations! 💪

INGREDIENTS
👅 2  Cups of cooked chickpeas
👅 1.5 Tbsp olive oil
👅 1 tsp garlic powder
👅 Add 1 tsp onion powder
👅 1 tsp chili powder
👅 1/4 tsp (or ½ tsp) cumin
👅 ¼ tsp finely grated sea salt (or to taste)

DIRECTIONS
👅 Set oven to 400º
👅 Dry off chickpeas and discard any skins that have separated
👅 Toss chickpeas with olive oil on baking sheet
👅 Bake the chickpeas for 25 min
👅 Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in small bowl
👅 Remove from oven and toss chickpeas with seasoning
👅 Place back on baking sheet and bake 10-15 minutes longer until hard and crispy, but not burnt
👅 Allow to cool completely on baking sheet before placing in a bowl
