48. This is my submission for @amusicphotographymagazine.
Yes, I am one of the many who love to take photos at festivals and concerts. The reality is, that getting a photo pass (or just permission to take your professional camera) isn’t always easy. For most festivals it actually feels like mission impossible to get a photo pass if you’re not shooting for a media-outlet, you don’t have friends in all the right places or if you don’t have a large social media following. So, mostly, I end up taking my lowbudget camera (I paid less than €100,-) and make the best of it.
This photo of Brandon Boyd (Incubus) was taken at Pukkelpop festival 2018. Incubus is one of my fave bands and I managed to see them from front row. I only took a couple of shots during their set and couldn’t be happier with the result. Would I have taken this photo with my Canon and a photo pass? Most defenitely not, mainly because this moment happened after the 3rd song. Taking photos with a (crappy) digital camera might limit your options, but if you know your camera and if you know how to use it, I 100% believe you can create some magic.
