Yesterday I decided to leave my phone in the car and enjoy my day at Hershey Park with my boyfriend and be 100% present. Inside I felt the tug that I should be posting on Instagram, I should be answering someone’s texts that are surely popping up, and I should be thinking about when I’ll practice my beading later.
Sometimes we need those days though to really disconnect and enjoy the ride. Take care of yourself and you will have more to give later.
After yesterday I feel as good as a girl who can pull her extensions up in a ponytail.

"Everybody has a challenge…I’m going to sell hope.” Kimberly Thomas, owner of "Don’t Quit," turned a catastrophic car accident into a clothing line that reminds anyone who needs it to keep going. She shares her stories over in East Liberty, where anyone in need of a positive boost can receive it just from one conversation with Ms. Thomas. She was inspired to create Don’t Quit after her long process of rehabilitation.
Thomas, who dealt with four close deaths in her family following the accident, understood that she had to jump into the business' creation right away. “I’m gonna trademark it. I’m gonna do it…just to be able to tell [someone] ‘whatever the challenge, don’t quit.'” You can find a variety of “Don’t Quit” designs in her store — whether it’s on a t-shirt or a skirt, you can find a simple and stylish “DQ"" or the whole motto, along with consignment pieces. There’s something for everyone. “It will keep the force of encouragement in your mind,” Thomas says. “Your right now is not your forever…it’s not going to last…You have to keep living...At the same time somebody dies, somebody is born,” she finishes with, “This is what the store is about." Don’t Quit’s location is vital to its sales, as for many years it suffered living by a pike, which did not allow for any bus stops or easy entrances. Now on a bustling side street in East Liberty, Don’t Quit’s message is thriving. Location and knowing your customers is everything, but so is a smile and a good conversation. The Entrepreneurs of Pittsburgh page members have learned this from our meeting with Kimberly, and we hope every entrepreneur can incorporate a little positivity into their visitors’ days.
